Chapter 31: Night Visit
Hearing Father Lu’s response, Lu Chen went to the kitchen. As soon as he entered the kitchen, he smelled the aroma of bone soup and felt his saliva pooling.

“Jueyu ah, are we having dumpling soup for dinner?” He asked, looking at the neatly arranged dumplings on the table.

Hearing Lu Cheng’s voice, Lu Jueyu turned her head and said, “En, it will be ready in a while.”

Lu Cheng almost forgot that he was here to get hot water, and asked, “Jueyu, is there any hot water? There are guests, and they look very cold.”

Every time Lu Jueyu cooks, she prepares a pot of hot water. If she needs to wash something, she can use warm water instead of cold water. So she nodded and said, “I’m going to make tea, just wait a moment.”

After washing her hands, Lu Jueyu went to get a pot. She scooped some tea leaves from a small jar to the pot, and poured hot water onto it. The tea is from her space, and the quality is very good. Those who like to drink tea will know that the Lu family’s tea is a rare Dahongpao if they have tasted it. In addition to Dahongpao, she also has Baihao Yinchan, Wuyi Narcissus, Tieguanyin, Pu’er, Longjing, and even Tienchi flower tea which was classified as herbal tea.

“Second brother, help me bring the pot.” With that said, Lu Jueyu took out a few bamboo cups from the cabinet and a small brazier near the stove, and went to the living room.

When she went in, she was surprised to see that the educated youths were trembling from the cold. She placed the brazier beside them, handed each of them a cup, and set the rest on the table. Lu Cheng followed behind her, poured tea into their cups, and said, “Have some tea to warm your body.”

These educated youths are all from cities far from the village. Their journey took several weeks and they suffered a lot due to the weather. When they arrived at the county town, the production team had no cars. As a result, they could only sit on the bullock cart in the cold weather and their bodies shivering constantly.

They thought they would have to endure for a few more hours before they could drink hot water. To their surprise, the first house they visited offered them hot tea. Everyone thanked Lu Cheng and drank tea. The moment they drank the tea, their eyes widened in surprise. The tea tastes really good, unlike the tea that ordinary villagers drink.

Han Yuheng took a sip of tea which warmed his body, and said, “Uncle Lu, I’m sorry to disturb your rest for visiting so late.”

Hearing his polite words, Father Lu waved his hands and said, “It’s okay, Team Leader Han is here to visit at this time, is there something urgent?”

Han Yuheng glanced at the educated youths and said, “Uncle Lu, I will be honest with you. These are educated youths sent by the central government, and they will receive education here. Currently, we don’t have any vacant houses for them to live in. So, I want to know if you can let one or two of them stay in your house? The production team will give you work points for the rent. As for their food, you don’t need to provide them.”

Father Lu looked at the soft and tender educated youth and felt a little headache. Although they have spare rooms in their house, it’s not easy living with strangers. What’s more, these educated youths often have arrogant behavior. Most educated youth come from towns or big cities, and they also grew up in wealthy families. Most of them are unwilling to go to the village to receive peasant education. Therefore, their behavior is rude to the villagers.

Seeing Father Lu’s hesitation, Han Yuheng quickly said, “Uncle Lu, they won’t stay for long. It will only be a month or two at most. They will move out as soon as the house is completed.”

Before Father Lu could make a decision, Mother Lu came out of the bedroom and sat down opposite Han Yuheng. She looked at the educated youth one by one, like she was picking cabbage in the market. Her sharp eyes and serious expression made the educated youth feel pressure. Not to mention these young masters and ladies, even Han Yuheng was fidgeting under Mother Lu’s gaze. When he was a child, he was beaten by Mother Lu and suffered many times, which made him unconsciously afraid of her.

“Aunt Lu.” He greeted her politely.

There are six educated youths, four men and two women. Mother Lu observed them for a while, then looked at Han Yuheng, and said, “Team Leader Han, it’s okay to let them live in my house. We have a spare room now, but I only accept girls, and the rent will be decided by the production team. There is no problem for us to help, after all, this is for the revolution.”
