They Almost Scared His Soul Away! ( 1 )
Not only was Lu Jueyu pale, but she was also covered in cold sweat. Will she think too much? No, it won’t work. They were getting married in two days and he couldn’t let anything happen.
While Li Chenmo was thinking about what to do to avoid unexpected things from happening, Lu Jueyu was absent-mindedly heating up the food in the kitchen. When the steam hit her face, she came back to her senses and quickly moved the steamed buns out of the stove. She looked at her trembling hands and clenched her fists tightly.
‘Lu Jueyu, you have to calm down. Even if you guessed right, maybe when the plot collapses, the world will not be affected. This is not a novel, this is a parallel world. Your fate is in your own hands.’
After repeating this sentence several times, Lu Jueyu finally calmed down. She took a deep breath before returning to the living room with the food. When Li Chenmo looked at her, she had already returned to normal.
Because of the fright, Li Chenmo observed her intently as she placed the food on the table. When she sat down, he couldn’t help asking, “Jueyu, are you really alright?”
“En. I’m fine.” Lu Jueyu nodded and served him a bowl of porridge.
“If you have something to say to me, don’t keep it to yourself. You have to tell me or I won’t know,” he added.
Seeing his worry, she smiled and said, “Okay. Let’s eat before the food turns cold. ”
After eating, Lu Jueyu gave Li Chenmo a footbath and said, “Brother Chenmo, the candy we bought last time was distributed to the villagers yesterday. So I plan to go to the state-run supply store to buy some more.”
“Are you going alone?” He asked with a frown.
“En, it’s not far. I’ll be back before lunch. I’ll prepare some noodles and bone soup for you before I leave. You and Uncle Li can have it for breakfast tomorrow.” Lu Jueyu said with a smile.
“Aren’t you coming later?” He asked again.
“Since you are at home alone, I will stay and wait for Uncle Li to come back before I go home. I am worried about leaving you alone.” she said, glancing at him.
“Alright.”
After giving him a footbath, Lu Jueyu went to the kitchen, filled the water tank with water in the space, and went to check the bamboo water pipe. Unlike the water pipes of the Lu family, the water pipes of the Li family are longer. Therefore, the water is less than that of the Lu family but it is more than enough for daily use.
She also checked the vegetable patch in the backyard. Father Li grows cabbages and no other vegetables. She went to check the coop and saw an old hen inside. Because of the cold weather, the old hen squatted in the corner. Seeing its listless appearance, she took out a bag of chicken feed from her space and poured it on the chicken feeder. She also changed the drinking water.
As if finding something delicious, the old hen opened its eyes and began to eat. The more it eats, the more energetic it will be. In less than five minutes, half of the feed is consumed. She refilled the chicken feeder, then washed her hands and went to the kitchen.
She checked the food and seasoning inside. Compared with her family, the situation is better. At least, the rice jar is almost full, with salt, sugar, oil, and even a small bottle of sesame oil. Baskets were full of eggs, and several pieces of salted meat hung from beams.
She filled the seasoning jar, took out two catties of sausages, and put them in the cabinet. Since there was no coarse grain in her space, Lu Jueyu didn’t fill up the rice jar. Instead, she filled another jar with white flour. She is satisfied when she sees the jars were full.
As soon as she entered Li Chenmo’s bedroom, she saw that he had fallen asleep. She took the book from his hand, helped him to lie down, and covered him with a blanket. Sitting on the kang bed, Lu Jueyu began to read the book. As she expected, the book was one of the government propagandas.
She lost interest and went to the kitchen to make some cakes. In this era without mobile phones and internet, the way she spends her time is either cooking, making clothes, or sleeping. Since she couldn’t sleep in the same bed with Li Chenmo, she could only cook.
After thinking about it, she chose to make steamed cakes. It’s simple to make, filling, delicious, and has all the ingredients in this era. Not long after, she steamed several bowls of steamed cakes. After the cake was ready, she cut a bowl and left another bowl in the steamer for Li Chenmo and his father. As for the rest, she put them in her own space. She would later give it to her family to taste.
As soon as she brought the cake out of the kitchen, she saw the educated youths come back. They were all taken aback when they saw her. After a while, they all greeted her with an awkward smile, “Sister-in-law.”
Lu Jueyu didn’t bother to correct them. After all, in two days, she will be called sister-in-law by others due to her status as a married woman. She looked at their flushed cheeks, noses and ears. She also noticed some mud on their wet shoes. It seems that they went out to work.
“Have you eaten?” she asked with a smile.
“We have eaten.” One of them said hastily.
As soon as the words fell, there was a gurgle sound coming from his stomach. He blushed and covered his stomach in embarrassment.
“You return at the right time. I just made a steamed cake for Brother Chenmo. Come in and have a taste.” Lu Jueyu said, and put the steamed cake on the table.
After finishing speaking, she entered Li Chenmo’s room without saying anything.
