Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife - Chapter 666
Chapter 666: Memory Loss
Mother Chen was very frustrated when she saw her daughter so relaxed. She sat next to her daughter and said anxiously, “Lina, you were so reckless just now. How could such a secret be exposed to everyone? Do you want to go to jail?”
Chen Lina looked at her mother and said, “What can they do to me? Even if I hadn’t given birth to that bitch, I had raised her for so many years. When she makes me angry, can I teach her a lesson?”
Mother Chen patted her daughter’s arm gently and said, “Aiya! It’s not because of this.”
“Then what else?” Chen Lina asked with a frown, clearly not thinking that she had done something wrong.
Mother Chen looked at her daughter with a look of ‘hating an iron for not being a steel’, and said, “Didn’t you say you exchanged the children? That’s a crime of kidnapping ah! If someone reports it to the authorities, you will end up in jail!”
Hearing her mother’s words, Chen Lina widened her eyes angrily and said, “Let’s see who dares to report me! Let’s see how I…”
Patting her daughter on the back, Mother Chen interrupted her, “This child! Do you think you haven’t caused enough trouble and you want to cause more trouble for me?”
Chen Lina frowned and looked at her mother, complaining, “Mother, why did you hit me?”
“You!” Mother Chen was so peeved by her daughter’s behavior that she was speechless.
She took a deep breath and let out a long sigh before she finally looked at her daughter, and said, “Lina, doesn’t your cousin work in the city? How about you go stay with her for a few days and come back after things calm down?”
When Chen Lina heard her mother’s words, she refused instantly, “I won’t go! Mother, do you want me to bow my head to that bitch and ask for her help? Don’t you know that she hates me because I took away her credit for saving Li Sang when we were young?”
“It’s been so many years since that incident. She must have forgotten and forgiven you,” Mother Chen said with uncertainty.
“Mother, she is already twenty-five years old and not married yet. If it weren’t for the fact that she still had feelings for Li Sang, she would have married that man who pursued her in the city,” Chen Lina said sourly.
She is obviously much prettier and smarter than her cousin. Therefore, she didn’t understand why her cousin, who looked so dull, could live a good life and be pursued by so many men from a good family, but she was trapped in this small village, married to a man like Li Sang.
Seeing that her daughter rejected her suggestion, Mother Chen could only sigh helplessly and said, “Since you don’t want to look for her, then we can only act according to the situation. I hope no one will report you to the authorities. Otherwise, even if we spend all the money in the family, there is no guarantee that I can save you.”
Looking at her mother’s worried eyes, Chen Lina smiled and said with confidence, “Mother, don’t worry. If this happens, I can go to the city to live with my cousin for a few years. When everyone forgets about this, I can come back.”
“This is the only way.” Chen’s mother said worriedly.
Just as the mother and daughter were contently planning everything, Li Shu was looking at Doctor Xie and a police officer who were sitting beside her bed, while Song Yan was standing on the other side. He was here to keep her company, just in case.
He suspects his young patient has amnesia, but she refuses to let anyone know. If she does have amnesia, some tests will have to be done to make sure there is nothing wrong with her brain. If a blood clot occurs, it can become a more serious condition if not treated in time.
The police officer looked at Li Shu’s injuries before he asked, “Little comrade, can you tell us what happened to you?”
Song Yan stood aside and carefully observed Li Shu’s expression. A frown appeared on his face when he noticed her pupils constricted and she hesitated to answer the question.
Not knowing that someone was observing her closely, Li Shu lowered her gaze to hide the panic in her heart. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to tell the police, but she didn’t remember what happened to her.
Her last memory was a man’s faint voice calling her name before she died. The moment she opened her eyes, she found herself back to her younger self and lay in the intensive care unit.
The police officer thought that Li Shu was worried that she would be beaten if she spoke out, so he softened his tone and said, “Little comrade, don’t be afraid. We will make sure that you won’t be harmed in any way.”
Doctor Xie looked at Li Shu and said, “Xiao Shu, tell the police what happened that day. Grandpa Xie will definitely protect you. No one can hurt you anymore.”
Hearing his words, Li Shu was in a dilemma. Thinking it would be better to tell them that she didn’t remember anything, she opened her mouth.
But before she could say anything, she heard her attending doctor say, “I’m sorry, officer. It seems my little patient still doesn’t remember anything. If she remembers anything, I will contact you.”
Seeing Song Yan’s solemn look, the police officer could only nod his head and said, “In that case, if there is any new information, please let us know.”
“Definitely,” Song Yan nodded and sent the officer to the door.
After coming back, he sat down by the bed and held Li Shu’s hand. Feeling the coldness of her hands, he sighed and said, “Xiao Shu, why didn’t you tell me that you lost your memory? When did you start experiencing memory loss? Does it start from the day you wake up?”
