Chapter 803: Anger and Disappointment ( 1 )
Thinking of Lu Jueyu’s words, Aunt Li sighed and said, “Forget it. If he wants to keep in touch with her, then I will let him.”
She entered the house and entered Li Shu’s room. There was nothing in the room except a small Kang bed, a cabinet, and a small table.
Opening the cabinet, she took out all the clothes and put them into cloth bags. When she finished grabbing her last set of clothes, she saw a small envelope at the bottom of the cabinet. She took out the envelope and opened it. Inside was a stack of candy wrappers.
Counting the wrapping paper, there were only fifteen. Over the years, the number of candies that Li Shu had received could be counted with hands, and most of them were given to Shitou. In the end, she only ate fifteen candies in twelve years.
When this conclusion appeared in Aunt Li’s mind, she felt ashamed. She used the excuse that Li Shu was a burden and they had no food to feed her. In fact, she was the one who ate the least in their family.
Aunt Li held the candy wrapper, her eyes were red, and tears fell from the corners of her eyes. Even though she regretted her decision, what was done was done. There was nothing she could do to repair their broken relationship.
It took her a while to calm down. She quickly packed Li Shu’s clothes and put them on the Kang bed. She will send these clothes to Doctor Xie’s house tomorrow.
At the same time, in the county town, Li Sang did not know what his mother had done to his daughter and was eager to go back to visit the children. Since he did not give money to Chen Lina and her family, he returned the money to the factory so that he would not be in debt.
As for his marriage to Chen Lina, he received a letter from the government declaring the marriage invalid. At first, he was confused as to how the government had so much free time to interfere with his marriage.
But after reading the letter, he realized his ex-wife was classified as a dangerous criminal and sentenced to lifetime imprisonment. Since they had no reason to meet again in this life, the police chief deliberately revoked Chen Lina’s marriage to him.
The government constantly urges citizens to have more children to increase the population. Therefore, it is understandable that they urge him to find another partner and have more children.
Although Li Sang’s thought was simple, Doctor Xie’s nephew had to put in a lot of effort to dissolve his marriage with Chen Lina. He did this not to help Li Sang, but to sever the relationship between his niece and that crazy woman.
Since his niece admits that Li Sang is her father, he should not have a relationship with Chen Lina. As long as there is a divorce, Li Shu is no longer Chen Lina’s daughter. That’s the reason why he put so much effort into dissolving Li Sang’s marriage.
Holding this letter, Li Sang felt mixed emotions. He did feel sad, but more than anything, he felt relieved. The manager learned about his family situation and gave him three days off. Now, he is on his way back to Xie Village.
When he arrived home, the sun had begun to set and the sky was dyed with brilliant colors. Entering the house, he looked around and found no one around. He didn’t think much of it because the children might be playing outside.
When he walked into the house, he saw his mother sitting in the living room in a daze. Seeing her like this, he walked over quickly and said, “Mother, what’s wrong?”
Hearing her son’s voice, Aunt Li came back to her senses. Seeing her son, her eyes shone with joy, “Ah Sang, why did you come back suddenly?”
“Mother, my manager gave me three days off. So, I came back to spend time with you and the children.”
“Mother, where are the children?” he asked.
Hearing his question, Aunt Li avoided his gaze and said, “Shitou is going out to play with his friends.”
“What about Da Niu? I went to the hospital and they told me she was discharged from the hospital today. You shouldn’t let her go out when she is just getting better,” Li Sang said with a frown.
Aunt Li knew that she could not hide this matter from her son for a long time. But knowing how much her son loved Li Shu, she hesitated. She couldn’t imagine how her son would react if he knew she had driven away his daughter.
Sensing something strange about his mother, Li Sang asked worriedly, “Mother, is there something wrong at home?”
After a long silence, Aunt Li finally spoke, “Ah Sang, this is about Da Niu…”
“Mother, has something happened to Da Niu?” Li Sang asked when he saw his mother’s hesitation.
Aunt Li clenched her hands nervously and said, “She…she will live with Doctor Xie from now on.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Li Sang was stunned. He looked at his mother blankly, unable to understand her words.
“Mother, what do you mean by this? Da Niu is my daughter. She should live with us, not with Doctor Xie,” Li Sang said.
“Ah Sang, listen to Mother’s explanation,” Aunt Li said with a hint of pleading.
Li Sang already knew that he would be disappointed with his mother’s explanation. But he still had a glimmer of hope in his heart, hoping that this was not his mother’s doing.

He took a deep breath and asked, “Mother, tell me, what’s going on?”
Aunt Li felt her hands trembling. So, she clenched her fists and said, “Ah Sang, we don’t have enough food at home. So, I asked Da Niu if she would like to live with Doctor Xie. After all, she is his adopted granddaughter. She has the responsibility to take care of him.”
