Chapter 903: Zongzi
Li Chenmo nodded when he heard his wife’s words and said, “We can celebrate by ourselves and it won’t be tiring.”

She placed salted duck egg yolks, shiitake mushrooms, braised pork, shelled mung beans soaked overnight, glutinous rice soaked in seasonings, chopped chinese sausages, and peeled roasted chestnuts on the kitchen table.
She sat on a chair, picked up two bamboo leaves, and overlapped two-thirds of them. She uses her hands to shape the leaves into conical shapes.
First, she stuffed some glutinous rice into the bottom. Then she added two more pieces of pork with some rice in between, two slices of shiitake mushrooms, a duck egg yolk, some chopped chinese sausage, and a piece of peeled roasted chestnut.
She then spreads a thin layer of shelled mung beans over the filling and adds more glutinous rice until the cone is almost filled.
When she filled the cone, she didn’t use too much force when she stuffed the rice and filling. So, the rice had room to expand. She then carefully folds the tail of the leaf to cover the top of the cone, then folds the tail of the leaf around the cone.
When the Zongzi formed a triangle and all the rice was wrapped in bamboo leaves, she tied the leaves with two pieces of kitchen twine.
She placed the wrapped Zongzi on the tray so that it could catch the marinade juice seeping out of the leaves.
Lu Jueyu is used to cooking and has dexterous hands. In less than a minute, she can finish tying a Zongzi. Just like that, five hours later, she finished making 300 Zongzi.

But because of the hot weather, she decided to cook just one pot outside and cook the rest in her own space. After cooking four pots of Zongzi, she took a bath and slept for a few hours before the two of them left the space.
