Not long after leaving Liu Hua’s house, Dong Li and Dong Huang walked past a group of idle villagers. They sit under the banyan tree chatting or playing chess. Some are eating red bean cake while mending clothes.

When the villagers saw them coming from Liu Hua’s house, one of them sneered and said, “Only children without parents would play with illegitimate children.”

Hearing this, Dong Li only glanced at her, but Dong Huan became furious. To her, Xiao Xi is not only her friend but also her little brother. As a good sister, she would not let anyone bully him.

When Dong Huang was pulled back by her brother, she still wanted to continue scolding those aunts. But when she saw her brother’s gloomy expression, she wisely kept her mouth shut.

Seeing Dong Li protecting his sister, the villagers who were scolded by Dong Huang pointed at them and said, “You little bitch, how dare you scold me?! Where is your manner? Ah I forgot, you don’t have parents to teach you this!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Dong Li looked at her coldly and said, “Auntie, as an elder, you must be careful in your words and deeds. This is a public space, and many children will learn bad things from you.”

The villagers looked at him and the middle-aged woman with interest. From Dong Li’s words, he meant that his sister learned how to curse from someone like that middle-aged woman.

Therefore, the middle-aged woman was partly at fault even if she was being scolded by Dong Huang. What’s more, they could see that Dong Li seemed to be blaming the woman for causing his sister to go astray.

Without waiting for the middle-aged woman to retort, Dong Li added, “Also, my sister and I are not orphans. We were born to our biological parents, and now we have adoptive parents.”

“Compared with other children, we are much luckier because we have two pairs of parents who love us very much. So, Auntie, you’d better use your brain before you speak.”

“Stop talking nonsense and spreading rumors that harm others. It’s not good if your children learn from your bad behavior. I believe you don’t want your children to grow up to be ill-mannered, uneducated people who end up in jail because they don’t know how to talk like humans, right?”

“As for Aunt Liu Hua’s family matters, it’s their own business. What does it have to do with you? Have they harmed you with their personal family matters?”

“If you have the guts, don’t sit here and say bad things about people behind their backs. Since you think you are right and they are wrong, why not scold them directly on their face?”

After saying that, Dong Li took her sister’s hand and said seriously, “Xiao Huang, let’s leave quickly. Otherwise, we might get bitten by a mad dog if we stay too long.”

The villagers were stunned by his words and didn’t have time to react. After a long time, they realized that he was actually scolding the middle-aged woman with polite words.

When the middle-aged woman realized that she had been scolded as a stupid, jealous, and rude mad dog, Dong Li and Dong Huang were already nowhere to be seen.

While the villagers were still discussing how he scolded that woman so badly using those polite words, Dong Li pulled his sister under the tree. He squatted in front of her and looked into her eyes.

Feeling that her brother was angry, Dong Huang didn’t dare to say anything. She avoided her brother’s gaze and pursed her lips until she could hang up the oil bottle in her little mouth.

After saying that, he stood up and left.

When Dong Huang saw her brother leaving, she quickly chased after him. But her small steps are not as good as her brother’s long strides. Within minutes, she was left behind by more than ten meters.
