Chapter 102: Chapter 102: You left me with no choice, Agnes
Agnes forced herself to sit up in bed. Her body ached from the impact of the collision, yet fear gripped her heart at the thought of Winter knowing everything.
“W-what are you doing here?” she stammered, trying to feign innocence.
Winter chuckled, unimpressed. “You don’t know how you ended up here? Or should I rephrase it for you?”
Agnes swallowed hard, her limbs growing weak.
“Alright, since you insist,” Winter said smoothly, her gaze sharp. “You were keeping tabs on me, and when you spotted me, you decided to ram your car into me. But guess what? I jumped out of the way, and you ended up crashing into a tree instead. Do you recall anything now?”
Agnes remained silent, her lips pressing into a thin line.
Winter’s smirk faded and eyes instantly looming with darkness. Her life wasn’t a game for someone to toy with, but someone as careless as Agnes needed to learn in the cruelest way.
“I-I didn’t do anything,” Agnes denied, her voice shaking. She averted her eyes, refusing to meet Winter’s piercing gaze. “You’re lying.” she snapped.
Winter tilted her head in amusement, something she already seen coming. “Sure, keep telling yourself that. But how are you going to deny what’s already circulating everywhere?”
Confusion flickered in Agnes’s eyes before she caught the sinister glint in Winter’s and a shiver ran down her spine.
Without another word, Winter pulled out her phone and pressed play. The screen lit up with a news broadcast, the reporter’s voice crisp and damning:
“Agnes Greyson was caught on camera attempting to run down a pedestrian in an intoxicated state before crashing into a tree.”
Agnes’s breath hitched as the video played before her, exposing the truth she desperately wanted to deny.
“Isn’t that your car? Or are you still going to lie?” Winter turned off the screen, her gaze locking onto Agnes, who showed no sign of faltering.
“You’re lying,” Agnes insisted, her voice rigid with denial.
Winter let out a quiet sigh, a flicker of pity crossing her eyes when a sudden knock at the door interrupted the tense silence.
Moments later, a police officer along with his team stepped inside leaving Agnes shocked.
“Miss Agnes Greyson, you have been charged for reckless driving and also trying to hurt Miss Winter.”
Agnes’s eyes widened in terror, her face instantly draining of color. She looked as pale as a ghost, frozen by the officer’s words.
Winter glanced at her, unfazed. “You left me with no choice, Agnes,” she said simply, stepping aside to make room for the officer.
“Don’t touch me!” Agnes protested, her voice sharp with desperation. But the officer merely gestured to the female constable, who stepped forward and snapped handcuffs around Agnes’s wrists before dragging her out of the ward.
“Winter, tell them to stop! I didn’t do anything!” Agnes cried out, her pleas echoing down the hallway. But no matter how much she screamed, no one was there to listen.
Meanwhile, Winter stepped out of the hospital just as Agnes was being escorted away. She knew it wouldn’t take long for Agnes to realize the gravity of her mistake—sooner or later, her wealthy parents would pull strings to set her free. But for once, Winter had fought back without bearing the blame. And that, at least, was a small victory.
Taking a deep breath, she slid into the waiting car and the moment she settled inside, her eyes locked onto Kalix.
“She is doomed,” he remarked coldly, not a hint of remorse in his tone.
Winter knew that if she hadn’t intervened, Agnes wouldn’t have left the hospital on her own two feet. This was the least Kalix could do because she had asked for it. And for now, that was enough.
“You don’t have to go to the police station alone. I’ll come with you,” Kalix stated firmly.
He knew that news of Agnes’s arrest had already reached her parents. And while he had no doubt they would pull every string to free her, he didn’t want Winter to face them alone.
“I don’t think that’s necessary,” Winter replied, her tone indifferent. “She’ll be out on bail soon anyway.”
Dorothy would never allow her precious daughter to spend even a single night in a shabby cell. It was only a matter of time before she was released.

But what intrigued Winter more was how they planned to salvage Agnes’s reputation now that her name was plastered all over the internet.
Pulling out her phone, she scrolled through the flood of comments under every post bearing Agnes’s name. The world was already judging her, and Winter couldn’t help but feel a flicker of satisfaction.
A smirk tugged at her lips as she quickly opened a new tab and typed a message.
“I owe you this.”
With a single press of the send button, she shoved the phone back into her pocket, leaning back against the seat as the car rolled forward.
Meanwhile, Gina smirked as she read Winter’s text, her gaze flickering to the television screen before she switched it off.
Seeing Agnes being torn apart all over the news filled her with immense satisfaction. The woman who had once tormented them was now facing public humiliation, and Gina couldn’t help but revel in it.
Without wasting a second, she dialed Lily, who was out grocery shopping. The call barely rang before Lily answered, her voice laced with shock.
“Gina, am I seeing this right? Is Agnes really-”
“You’re seeing it right, Lily,” Gina confirmed, unable to hide the amusement in her tone. “Her face is plastered all over the channels. Not only is the media dragging her, but even her fans are turning against her. Everything she built on lies is crumbling.”
They both knew exactly the kind of woman Agnes was. Watching her downfall unfold before their eyes felt like poetic justice.
“Well, this calls for a celebration! What do you want to eat?” Lily asked, her excitement bubbling through the phone. “I’m still picking up some things, tell me what extra I should grab.”
After losing their jobs over Agnes’s petty insecurities, this was the least they could do to lift their spirits. Not that they missed their old agency, after all, they had already moved on to a better one but the thought of Agnes’s tarnished reputation dragging that agency down with her was the cherry on top.
Gina listed a few things, and Lily quickly noted them down before ending the call. But just as she tucked her phone away, a deep voice startled her.
“When did you start drinking?”
Lily’s head snapped up, her eyes widening at the sight of Roger standing behind her.
Of all places, of all moments—he just happened to show up now?
The man who had occupied her thoughts since their last encounter was standing right in front of her, and she had no idea how to react.
Lily’s mind momentarily went blank, but the amused glint in Roger’s eyes only left her more confused.
“What are you d-doing here, Roger?” she asked, snapping out of her stupor and quickly looking away.
Roger frowned slightly at her avoidance, but he didn’t dwell on the disappointment for more than a few seconds.
“I stopped by to grab a drink, and fortunately, I ran into you,” he said smoothly. His gaze sharpened with curiosity as he added, “Now tell me, Lily, when did you start drinking? As far as I remember, you couldn’t even stand the smell of it.”
There was a certain persistence in his tone, as if he wasn’t going to let it go so easily. But Lily wasn’t in the mood to explain herself at least not to him.
Without another word, she turned and continued with her shopping, pretending as if his presence didn’t rattle her.
“That’s none of your business, Roger,” she said, glancing to the side where he effortlessly kept pace with her.
Roger sensed the distance in her tone, and a pang of disappointment settled in his chest. She hadn’t been this cold when they were friends. Then again, he couldn’t blame her not when years had passed, and people have the tendency to change.
“By the way, I forgot to get your number last time,” he said casually.
The second the words left his mouth, Lily froze.
Her eyes snapped to him, brows furrowing. “And why do you want my number?”
Her voice was sharp, guarded, like she was bracing for something.
“Because we were friends,” he muttered cautiously, his gaze flickering over her face, noting the defensive glint in her eyes.
Lily stared at him for a few seconds, processing his words. Running into Roger had been unexpected enough, but now he was asking for her number? That wasn’t an option, especially not when he had a wife waiting for him at home.
“That’s not possible,” she said firmly. “As far as I remember, we weren’t that close before, nor are we close now. But if you still insist, I can give you my business number. That’s the only place you’ll be able to reach me.”
Roger fell silent for a moment, considering her response. He watched as she pulled out a card, but the second his eyes landed on the name printed on it, a flicker of amusement crossed his face.
“Oh, that’s great,” he said smoothly, taking the card without hesitation. “I’ll be sure to keep this safe.”
Lily kept a keen eye on him, watching as realization dawned on his face. Now that he knew where she worked, she hoped it would be enough to keep him at a distance.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me,” she said coolly before walking past him.
Roger didn’t stop her. Instead, he simply watched her retreating figure, amusement flickering in his eyes.
