Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Why had Sylvester dropped by?
“Is she okay?” Sean asked.
Stanley, who had woken up just in time to see Sean leaving for work, stopped him with urgent news. “Lilac showed up at our door completely drenched and heartbroken,” he informed him.
Hearing this, Sean immediately tensed. If Lilac was upset, they were all in trouble—especially him.
“She is, but you should be more worried about yourself once she wakes up,” Stanley added, making Sean gulp. Without wasting another second, he grabbed his bag and sprang to his feet.
“Then I suppose it’s time for me to leave,” he said, clutching his bag and turning toward the door.
“Where do you think you’re going, Sean?”
The sudden voice made him freeze. His face paled as he slowly turned, dread pooling in his stomach. Standing by Stanley’s room door was Lilac, her expression dark with fury.
Stanley, watching from the side, barely had time to react before Lilac took off her slipper and launched it straight at Sean.
“Lilac! What are you doing?!” Sean yelped, dodging the attack before bolting across the room.
“You sneaky little liar! Come here!” Lilac shouted, possessed by rage as she sprinted after him, already removing her other slipper for another throw.
Lilac had always believed that Sean wasn’t someone who would keep secrets from her. But now that he had, he had no choice but to face her wrath.
“I said stop, Sean, before I decide to chop off all your hair and make you go bald!” Lilac warned.
Sean skidded to a halt instantly. He knew better than to test her patience, but facing her without any backup was just as dangerous as stepping into a lion’s den from where death was inevitable.
Slowly, he pulled the bag off his face and peeked at Lilac, who looked no less than a raging bull. Yet, despite her fury, seeing her so upset made his chest tighten with guilt.
“First, promise me you’ll let me speak,” he requested.
Instead of answering, Lilac grabbed a pillow from the nearby couch and hurled it at his face.
“Ouch!” Sean yelped.
Lilac had sworn she wouldn’t talk to any of them for a month or maybe even two. No matter how much her brothers tried to coax her, she had vowed never to forgive them.
Yet, despite all her promises, she found herself doing the opposite.
Stanley watched her anxiously, but she didn’t spare him a glance. She simply walked around the couch and sat down, her emotions simmering beneath the surface.
She was furious. She wanted to cry. But after enduring emotional turmoil the entire evening, she forced herself to hold it in.
Sean noticed her silence and cautiously approached, moving like a student trying not to provoke an already angry teacher. He hesitantly sat next to her, only for Lilac to shoot him a glare that had him immediately jumping back, maintaining a safe arm’s-length distance.
“Here, drink some water first,” Stanley offered.
Lilac glanced at the glass of water, then at Stanley. The tension in the room felt thick, the awkwardness between them refusing to fade. Yet, despite it all, she sighed and accepted the glass, taking a small sip.
“What reason do you have, Sean?” She finally asked, setting the glass aside. “Tell me, what made all of you keep the truth about my parents’ deaths from me?”
Her blank, piercing stare bore into Sean, making him shift uncomfortably.
He had only been following Sylvester’s orders, but deep down, a part of him knew that they had waited too long to tell her.
Now, as he sat there, struggling for the right words, he realized there was no justification that could erase the betrayal she felt. No matter how he tried to explain, the truth remained that they had failed her.
Just as Sean was about to confront Lilac, the doorbell rang, interrupting them midway.
Stanley walked over to open the door, revealing two familiar faces.

As if the heavens had finally granted him backup, Sean, like a desperate child, bolted toward Kalix and hid behind him.
“Boss, help me! She said she’d make me go bald!” he whined.
Roger ignored Sean’s rant and walked straight to his sister, his expression calm yet unreadable.
Kalix, on the other hand, shot Sean a seething glare.
Sean smiled awkwardly, realizing his mistake, and quickly straightened up, silently trailing behind Kalix as he followed Roger inside.
Lilac, refusing to acknowledge either of them, stood up to leave.
“Lilac Andreas, is this how you greet your brothers?” Kalix’s deep voice cut through the room, making her pause mid-step.
Roger, ever the composed and wise one, spoke next. “Lilac, don’t you want to know why we are here?”
Despite the fury simmering in her chest, Lilac met her brother’s gaze, searching for something… remorse, maybe even guilt. She let out a slow breath before finally returning to her seat.
“Just because you both came here for me doesn’t mean I’m forgiving either of you,” she stated firmly. Then, her gaze shifted to Roger, sharp with disappointment. “At least not you, brother. I understand that Kalix is the most mysterious and unapproachable one among us, but you? We’ve always shared our problems with each other. And yet, you lied to me. Why?”
Her voice cracked slightly, and tears brimmed in her eyes as the weight of betrayal settled over her once more.
She wasn’t a child anymore. She wasn’t too young to not understand.
And yet, they had kept her in the dark as if she were.
“Who says I’m unapproachable?” Kalix suddenly asked, breaking the tension in the room.
Lilac’s lips twitched. She wanted to yell at him, to make him see that he was the most unapproachable person she knew. But instead, she settled for a fuming glare.
“You think gawking at me is going to help you loosen up?” Kalix scoffed. “Even Seren is more mature than you.”
“I’m glad,” Lilac shot back. “Because if she were anything like you, handling two Kalixes would be impossible.”
Roger chuckled, shaking his head. “Speaking of Seren, I was thinking we should visit her soon. I haven’t had the chance to meet her yet,” he said, his lips curling with excitement.
Lilac, who had been moments away from exploding like a balloon filled with too much air, instantly deflated, her irritation vanishing as she clapped her hands in excitement.
“Yes! It’s been a while,” she agreed eagerly. Then, with a mischievous smirk, she added, “You know, brother, she’s such a cutie, unlike someone who always walks around with a deadpan expression. No one would believe she’s his child.”
Kalix snorted in response, unbothered by the jab.
Arguments never lasted long between the siblings. They had their own unique way of working through them, no matter how heated things got.
Lilac knew she could never stay upset with them forever. But deep down, she still felt a twinge of neglect. They had all been able to bear the burden of the truth, while she had been left in the dark.
And now, she needed time to make peace with it.

Winter was surprised to wake up alone in bed, but a small note from Kalix kept her from worrying. With a pleasant smile, she started her day.
What surprised her even more was the silence from Dorothy and her husband. Not once had they tried to reach out, nor to scold her, not to blame her for dragging their daughter into this mess.
Still, she hadn’t forgotten her grandfather’s warning.
He had told her to stay alert.
Dorothy and Agnes weren’t the type to let things go easily. And now that Winter had exposed their true nature to the entire nation, the conflict between them was bound to escalate.
After finishing breakfast, Winter and Seren stepped outside, only to find an unfamiliar car waiting under the canopy.
While Winter was confused about who might have lost their way, Seren squealed in excitement.
“Grappie!”
Winter’s eyes snapped to her daughter before following her gaze to the car.
The moment the window rolled down, she caught a glimpse of the old man inside, his face glowing with a warm smile as Seren eagerly climbed in.
“Miss, Master would like to give you a ride,” a voice spoke, startling Winter.
She turned to see Sylvester’s driver standing by the car, politely gesturing for her to get in.
Winter hesitated, but she didn’t dwell on it for too long. She had been meaning to thank Sylvester for what he had done for her.
With a reluctant sigh, she walked over and slid into the car and moments later, they pulled away from the property.

Kalix was in the middle of a conversation when a call from Butler James interrupted him. Excusing himself, he quickly decided to leave.
“Wait a second, let me join you,” Roger said.
Now that everything had settled between them, both brothers, along with Sean, left for work. Meanwhile, Stanley stayed behind with Lilac since she claimed she wasn’t feeling well.
Of course, they all knew it was just an excuse to avoid going home and facing Slyvester. But no one pressed her on it and simply let her be.
As they stepped out of the elevator and walked across the lobby, Roger turned to Kalix.
“I heard you recently signed a model to represent your company?”
Kalix gave a brief nod.
“I’d like to work with her too. Can you send me the details?” Roger asked.
Since he worked in the entertainment industry, Roger was always eager to collaborate with different talents. So when he expressed interest in Gina, Kalix wasted no time in instructing Sean to forward the details along with her manager’s contact information.
Roger shot him a proud smile before getting into his car and driving off.
Kalix, however, remained skeptical the entire time, his thoughts lingering on one thing.
