Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Angel, can I ask you something?
Meanwhile, inside the Rosewood mansion, Dianna was doing her best to convince Sylvester that the news was true. The photos and videos she had seen were undeniable proof.
“I don’t understand why Kalix refuses to see through her deception, Grandpa! I was there with her when we met Kingstone. I had no idea she bribed him, but the photos and videos from the restaurant don’t lie,” she ranted.
Dianna wanted Winter behind bars, but Kalix’s blind loyalty left her fuming. They had solid proof against Winter, yet he stubbornly believed in her innocence.
“How can we be sure you’re not the one who framed Winter in this situation?” Lilac’s voice cut through Dianna’s tirade.
Dianna shot her a glare. “You think I’d let Kalix walk into that building just to frame Winter?” she snapped.
Lilac shrugged. “If your sister had no problem targeting their daughter, why wouldn’t you do the same? You’ve spent years trying to get Kalix’s attention, after all.”
Dianna’s expression twisted in anger. She hadn’t expected Lilac to be so blunt.
But instead of engaging with her accusations, she turned back to Slyvester.
“Grandpa, public outrage is growing. If we don’t put Winter behind bars, this will only get worse,” she pressed.
Sylvester was well aware of the scandal, and it shook him to the core. His grandson was injured, and the woman he loved was being blamed for fabricating evidence. Every news channel was circulating the accusations, and the families of those who suffered in the collapse were demanding justice.
And yet, despite everything, he couldn’t bring himself to go against Kalix. He knew that if he did, his grandson would cut ties with him.
“I think we should trust whatever Kalix plans to do. I’m sure he has thought this through,” he finally said, putting an end to Dianna’s relentless argument.
“But Grandpa—” Dianna tried to speak, but Sylvester was already on his feet, vacating the room.
She watched his retreating figure until the sharp clicking of heels reached her ears. Her expression darkened.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a shame. Even Grandpa thinks sister-in-law is innocent,” Lilac mocked, smirking as Dianna’s face twisted with fury. Without another word, she turned and walked away.
Dianna stood frozen in defeat, but she wasn’t someone who gave up easily.
Spinning on her heels, she stormed into her room and grabbed her phone, quickly making a call.
“No one is believing me!” she yelled, her blood boiling with rage. The thought of Winter getting away with everything made her want to hurt her with her own hands.
But the voice on the other end of the line was calm and steady.
“Don’t worry. Even if no one believes you, the public will demand answers.”
Dianna exhaled sharply, her fingers gripping the phone tighter. She knew that whatever they had planned would eventually work in her favor.
Patience, however, was not her strong suit.

Meanwhile, back in the penthouse, inside Kalix’s room, Winter helped him with dinner. It was just a simple bowl of porridge, but it gave him enough energy to regain some strength.
Kalix hadn’t stopped for a second, relentlessly searching for a way to postpone addressing the media. However, he knew that the longer he delayed, the more public outrage would grow.
“What are you going to do now, brother? Dianna refuses to keep her mouth shut and keeps trying to convince Grandpa to believe her lies,” Lilac said over the phone.
Kalix listened in silence. He knew no one would believe Dianna, but her desperation to manipulate Grandpa was something he couldn’t ignore.
“What about Rita? Anything suspicious about her?” he asked.
Kalix doubted both sisters, and ignoring either of them would be foolish—especially now that they had crossed the line.

“I don’t think Rita has anything to do with this,” Lilac stated. “She’s hardly been home. Ever since Brother Roger mentioned the divorce, she’s been doing everything she can to change his mind. Plus, she was at Brother’s company in the morning and at home the following day.”
While Sean was monitoring Dianna’s movements, Kalix had asked Lilac to keep an eye on Rita. So far, the elder sister seemed uninvolved—for now.
But Dianna? Her actions were growing more suspicious by the second.
After some time, Kalix ended the call and stepped into the room, only to find Winter waiting for him.
As much as he wanted to hold her, he knew Winter wouldn’t do anything to hurt him. But seeing her targeted for something she hadn’t done made his heart clench in pain.
He had always known that the world would eventually find out about them, but he had wanted it to happen on his terms—not like this.
Now, as he thought of a way to silence the media, he realized he needed a plan that would put an end to the speculation once and for all.
Winter noticed Kalix standing by the balcony door and quickly moved to help him.
“You should rest,” she said, guiding him to lie down on the bed.
Kalix watched as she walked around to the other side and settled next to him.
Careful not to put pressure on his wounds, he remained on his side, his eyes fixed on her—never wavering for even a second.
There was no way he would let anyone lay a finger on her. Even though he had managed to drop the arrest warrant, as a responsible citizen and leader, he knew he had to address the concerns of the families affected by the accident.
“Angel, can I ask you something?”
The moment Kalix spoke, an uneasy feeling washed over Winter. Still, despite the sudden tension, she didn’t hesitate. Instead, she gave him a small nod.
“Ask me anything you want,” she said without a second thought.
She knew the situation outside was spiraling out of control, and if helping Kalix meant easing the burden on his shoulders, she was willing to do whatever it took.
Kalix’s gaze, on the other hand, darkened with intensity, making Winter’s heart pound with anticipation.
But nothing could have prepared her for the words that left his lips.
