Chapter 126: Chapter 126: See? Even he needs to get cleaned
“Is that why you reached out to Kalix and proposed a deal to marry Winter off to him?” Sylvester asked, his tone laced with disdain as he mocked Byron.
There was no hiding the contempt in his voice—they had never shared a good bond.
“What if I told you yes? That I approached him with a motive?” Byron replied, watching closely as Sylvester’s words faltered.
Sylvester’s expression darkened, and his jaw clenched in fury.
“Would you believe me if I said I did it because I suspect we share the same enemy?” Byron added, leaving Sylvester stunned by the claim.
Byron took his silence as an opportunity to continue.
“I know you’re aware of why Kalix agreed to help me. But what he doesn’t know… is that our enemy might be one and the same.”
His words plunged Sylvester into a pool of doubt, yet there was something undeniable in them—something that made him want to believe.
“What do you mean?” Sylvester asked, his eyes now locked on Byron—sharp with curiosity, demanding answers.
Byron’s eyes gleamed with a flicker of hope as he quickly motioned Hayes to hand over the file.
Sylvester looked confused at first, but the moment he found a letter inside the file, something inside struck a chord. His gaze snapped back to Byron, now laced with skepticism.
A charged silence stretched between them as a meaningful look passed—one that cleared the fog of doubt and brought a sudden, startling clarity.

Dianna was still nursing her throbbing headache when the door to her room flung open and an infuriated Rita stormed in.
“That Lily is trying to crawl back into our lives again! I found out Roger gave her a ride home the day of the accident,” Rita snapped, pacing like a storm, her mind reeling with fury. The thought of Lily lingering around Roger for who knew how long made her stomach churn—how had she missed it?
And Roger’s recent behavior only confirmed her worst fears. He was changing, growing distant. It was clear he was trying to rekindle the affection he once had for the woman he’d lost touch with—Lily.
Dianna, however, couldn’t care less. Her attention was completely consumed by Kalix and Winter. The idea of them living a blissful, married life while she was left behind, forgotten, made her blood boil.
Still, she forced herself to push the bitterness aside—Dorothy had asked her to believe in her, and for now, she would try.
When Dianna remained silent, Rita frowned.
“Are you still fuming over the fact that you lost your chance with Kalix?” she asked bluntly.
Dianna shot her a glare, her words only adding salt to fresh wounds.
“And you? Still bitter about losing your husband after going through all that trouble just to force your way into his life?”
She didn’t miss the way Rita’s expression shifted at the jab. Dianna knew exactly what Rita had done to secure her place in this house and in Roger’s life. And now, with his former lover back in the picture, it was clear Rita feared losing him for good.
Rita glared at her in return, then crossed the room and dropped onto the couch with a sharp huff.
“I can feel our lives being threatened,” she muttered, “by the very woman we tried so hard to erase.”
“But that doesn’t mean I’ll give up on what’s mine,” Dianna said, and the steel in her voice caught Rita’s attention.
Her brows narrowed suspiciously, instantly alert. There was a shimmering warning beneath Dianna’s words—one Rita didn’t miss.
As much as Rita was obsessed with Roger, she knew Dianna harbored the same fixation for Kalix. The only difference? At least Roger showed her affection from time to time. Kalix, on the other hand, had never spared Dianna a second glance.
Yet here they were—both consumed by men who would never truly be theirs.
“What are you going to do?” Rita asked, her tone wary.

Dianna glanced at her, a flicker of uncertainty flashing through her eyes.
“That’s not something you need to know,” she replied coolly.
Rita frowned, but Dianna didn’t give her a chance to speak again.
“It’s better you focus on keeping your man now that Mom’s laid her cards on the table. Sylvester might give up on me, but you? You still have a chance.”
Her words silenced Rita, who could only watch as Dianna stood there—calm, collected, and quietly unraveling.
Rita knew it was just Dianna’s way of shutting her down—but deep down, a gnawing curiosity stirred. She couldn’t shake the feeling that her sister was up to something… something dangerous.

Back inside the penthouse, Kalix was being pampered by his wife—and much to Winter’s surprise, he was thoroughly enjoying every second of it.
Not only had he asked her to feed him, but he’d also demanded a hundred kisses as compensation for being a “suffering patient.”
After wiping his lips, Winter set the bowl aside on the tray and placed it on the table.
“Kiss, please,” Kalix said, pouting his lips forward, requesting yet another kiss—right after the one they had shared just seconds ago.
Winter squinted at him in disbelief. “I used to think you were this ruthless mafia leader with a heart made of stone,” she muttered. “But look at you now… acting like a spoiled brat.”
Kalix leaned back slightly, his gaze playful as it lingered on her amused expression.
“You say that, and yet you keep reminding me how much I scared you that day,” he replied, his tone light, but with a shadow beneath it.
Winter didn’t want to remember that day. The fear, the uncertainty. But the moment she agreed to marry him, she had accepted that this was their reality—one where safety came with shadows and love came with risks.
Kalix had never hidden anything from her. His life was like an open book. And yet, sometimes… she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was still something she didn’t fully know.
He carried two sides—one she saw in moments like these, soft and teasing, and the other, sharp and dangerous, worn like armor before the world.
And that very contrast made her wonder: did she really know the man she married?
But all of Winter’s doubts melted away when he leaned in once more, lips adorably puckered.
“Kiss, please.”
She let out a defeated sigh and pressed a soft peck to his lips.
Kalix smiled, savoring not just the kiss—but the fact that Winter no longer threw a fit over his antics, unlike those tense moments when they first reunited, years after he’d begun secretly watching over her from the shadows.
His life had once been confined to that darkness, silently following her every step, keeping a quiet record of her world while never daring to step into it. But now, with both his woman and daughter by his side, something had shifted.
He wanted to be more—a responsible man, a present father, a true partner.
Though his underworld dealings had long been cleaned and legalized, the stain of his past still lingered. The business, no matter how polished, carried its own risks. With every gain came enemies, just as plentiful as admirers.
“Better?” Winter asked, pulling back slightly.
Kalix smiled, brushing away the lingering weight of his thoughts. “Better.”
The calm in his voice washed over her like a breath of fresh air, and before she could stop herself, she leaned in to give him one more soft peck before pulling away.
“It’s time to clean you, hubby,” she said playfully as she climbed off the bed and made her way to the bathing area.
Kalix wasn’t allowed to take proper showers yet—not with the wound on his side still fresh and the stitches needing time to settle. The bandage around his shoulder was another matter entirely; the area remained sensitive and would take a few more weeks to fully heal.
So instead of a shower, his doctor had recommended sponge baths to keep him clean without risking infection or tearing the stitches.
By the time Winter had arranged everything, Kalix was already standing in front of her, waiting—his eyes locked on her with that familiar glint of mischief.
A slow grin curled on his lips, and Winter instinctively furrowed her brows in anticipation.
“Why are you smiling like that?” she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
“Nothing,” he replied, voice smooth. “I’m just… looking forward to being cleaned by you.”
Winter shot him a curious look, narrowing her eyes. But Kalix didn’t waver—his grin only widened, clearly enjoying her reaction.
Winter was doubtful—unsure of what was going on in that mischievous mind of his. But the second she began to undress him, her eyes fell on his cock, springing free from his pants and standing at full attention, aimed right at her.
She blinked, momentarily stunned, then sighed internally.
‘How could she forget her husband had a habit of getting aroused just by being near her?’
She shot Kalix a knowing look.
He simply shrugged, utterly unbothered. “See? Even he needs to get cleaned,” he said, gesturing with his eyes toward his very obvious problem.
