Chapter 192: Chapter 192: I asked her to meet me
“This looks exactly the same,” Stanley muttered, holding up two identical bottles. One was the original Veldix, and the other a flawless replica. Visually, there was no difference.

“Unfortunately, the other one isn’t nearly as dangerous as the one in your left hand,” Sean pointed out, his gaze locked on the bottles.

Stanley studied them a moment longer before setting them down. His fingers drummed lightly against the table as his sharp gaze shifted to Sean.

“So… the boss still can’t let me be alone, can he?” Stanley’s voice was calm, but there was a subtle edge beneath the question.

Sean’s brow furrowed, momentarily caught off guard. But realization dawned quickly, and he tried to brush it off with a casual shrug. “I don’t think so. You clearly told us to keep it discreet,” he countered, attempting to maintain his composure.

But Stanley’s piercing stare didn’t waver. “I know them, Sean. So let’s skip the pretense. Tell me—what’s the boss been up to? I asked him to keep things low-key, but I can feel eyes on me. Doesn’t he trust me?”

“It’s not about trust, Stanley. It’s about protection,” Sean argued, his voice laced with urgency. “He can’t risk losing you.”

Stanley’s jaw tightened. He wasn’t just another stray Kalix had taken under his wing—he was family. A part of something Kalix would never willingly lose.

But Sean’s growing discomfort didn’t escape Stanley’s notice. His gaze narrowed. “You think I haven’t figured it out yet?”

Sean’s confusion deepened. “What do you mean? Be clear.”

“Sean,” Stanley leaned forward, his voice dropping to a tense whisper, “I know the spies who tailed us that day weren’t just a warning for the boss. They were meant for me. And I don’t think our enemies are the same.”

Sean blinked, his shock evident. He had underestimated Stanley’s insight. How had they ever thought they could keep anything from him? Stanley wasn’t just quick-witted—he was a master at reading between the lines.

“They’re watching me, not just him. Which means I’ve stepped on someone’s toes while digging around.” Stanley’s gaze hardened. “And if the boss keeps hovering over me, it won’t be long before they decide to turn their sights on him too.”

“Stanley…” Sean hesitated, conflicted between loyalty to the boss and the undeniable truth Stanley was presenting.

“Listen, Sean. I don’t need a shadow—I need a real ally. Someone who can see the whole picture and not just follow orders blindly.”

Sean’s jaw clenched, but he nodded slowly. “You have me. I just hope you know what you’re doing.”

“I always do and trust me, I can bring the culprits to light,” Stanley replied, a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips. But beneath that bravado, there was a cold, calculating determination.

Because the game had already begun, and Stanley wasn’t just another player—he was the one they were trying to take off the board.

Meanwhile, inside her room, Agnes stared at the text on her phone, the message still glowing on the screen. At first, confusion rippled through her—why would Winter want to meet her now? But soon, a slow, spiteful smile curled at her lips. If Winter wanted a meeting, then this was her chance.

Her mother had warned her countless times not to be reckless, but when it came to Eric, Agnes knew no boundaries. She wasn’t just meeting Winter—she was planning to teach her a lesson.

“Let’s meet, Winter.” She typed the reply, her fingers tapping the screen with barely restrained excitement before hitting send.

“She agreed,” Winter murmured, her voice cutting through the quiet room and immediately catching Kalix’s attention.

They had just finished two rounds of heated passion, and Kalix’s head rested comfortably against her bare chest, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist. But at her words, he looked up, his brows furrowing slightly.

“Who agreed?” he asked, his voice a low, sleepy rumble.

Winter hesitated for a moment. She hadn’t told Kalix the full extent of her plan—how she intended to confront Agnes and shatter the illusions she had about Eric. But now that Agnes had agreed, there was no point in hiding it.

“Agnes,” Winter finally revealed, turning slightly to place her phone back on the side table. “I asked her to meet me, and… she agreed.”

Kalix’s expression shifted from curiosity to mild surprise before he sighed and rolled onto his back, staring up at the ceiling. The warmth of their embrace was replaced by a tense silence.

“I don’t know how you plan on exposing Eric,” he began, his voice calm but edged with concern. “But be careful. Even Agnes can’t be trusted.”

“I know,” Winter replied, a faint, bitter smile tugging at her lips. “But when it comes to Eric, she’s the most gullible person I’ve ever seen—easily manipulated by anyone who knows how to play her.”

Her mind wandered to that fateful day—the screech of tires, the shock of impact, and the chilling realization that Agnes had tried to run her down. All because of Eric. Agnes’s obsession with him was a poison that had blinded her to reason.

But that same obsession could be her weakness.

Winter’s eyes narrowed with a newfound resolve. If she wanted to expose Eric, she didn’t need to fight Agnes directly. She needed to use Eric himself—turn his lies and deceptions against him.

A cold determination settled over her, and she leaned back against the pillows. “Agnes will never believe me if I confront her head-on. But she will believe Eric. Or at least, his own actions.”

Kalix’s gaze shifted from the ceiling to her, a dark curiosity in his eyes. “And how do you plan to do that?”

“Simple,” Winter’s voice dropped to a whisper, yet her tone was laced with steel. “I’ll make him expose himself.”

Kalix’s lips quirked in a half-smile. “Dangerous plan.”

“Not as dangerous as letting Agnes stay trapped in his lies.”

Kalix reached over, his fingers brushing against her cheek, a silent promise in his touch. “Just promise me one thing—don’t put yourself at risk to save someone who wouldn’t do the same for you.”

Winter’s gaze softened, and she leaned into his touch. “I promise. But someone has to end this.”

Kalix’s thumb gently traced her cheek. “Then I’ll be right here—ready to clean up the mess if it gets out of hand.”

Winter chuckled, though a sliver of tension lingered beneath her smile. “Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.”

But even as she said it, she couldn’t shake the feeling that this confrontation would open wounds that hadn’t truly healed—and expose secrets that were never meant to be revealed.

“And now,” Kalix whispered, his voice a low, teasing growl, “I want more dessert.”

Before Winter could react, Kalix shifted, turning her effortlessly and pulling her back against his chest. His warm breath fanned against the sensitive skin of her neck, his lips brushing just beneath her ear.

A shiver danced down Winter’s spine as his hand slid along her thigh, strong fingers curling around it, lifting her leg to hook around his waist.

“Kalix—” her voice came out as a breathless whisper, but her words were cut off as he pressed against her, his body molding perfectly against hers.

Desire flared like wildfire, and in a single, fluid motion, he claimed her again. His slow, deliberate thrusts quickly grew more demanding, each movement sending waves of pleasure coursing through her.

Her fingers clutched at the sheets, her gasp melting into a moan as Kalix’s rhythm grew relentless. He buried his face in her nape, his lips trailing heated kisses along her shoulder, his teeth grazing her skin just enough to leave a delicious sting.

“Winter,” he murmured, his voice rough and breathless, each syllable laced with hunger. His grip on her tightened, his strong arm anchoring her against him, leaving her utterly at his mercy.

Their quiet, intimate calm from moments before transformed into something far more primal—passion surging like a storm, fierce and unyielding.

Winter’s heartbeat raced, her body arching instinctively to meet his every movement, her own desire igniting in response to his. His name escaped her lips in a desperate whisper, a plea and a promise all at once.

Kalix’s pace quickened, his control slipping with every heated second. “I can’t get enough of you,” he breathed, his voice rough with need.

Their world narrowed to the heat of their bodies, the intoxicating rhythm of their desire, and the electrifying connection that seemed to burn brighter with every touch, every kiss, every breath they shared.

And as they reached the peak together, Winter’s mind spun with a mix of pleasure and the lingering thoughts of the confrontation awaiting her.

“You are impossible,” she whispered, feeling weary and drained.

But for now, she was lost in the arms of the man who seemed to set her very soul on fire.

“And still you can’t get enough of me and let me stay inside you until I grow hard.” Kalix kissed her face before thrusting once again.
