Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Change of plans
Beatrix’s legs trembled, but she forced herself to stand her ground. “Sylvester, please, we never meant for things to go this far. Rita—she’s just… she’s young, she made a mistake—”
“A mistake?” Sylvester’s lips curled in a bitter smile. “A mistake is a moment of poor judgment. What you and your daughters did was premeditated manipulation and cruelty.”
Dianna’s fingers tightened around her handbag, desperation flashing in her eyes. “We are family! We can talk this out. You can’t just turn your back on us!”
“Family?” Sylvester’s gaze darkened. “Family is built on trust, loyalty, and love. But all you’ve shown is deceit and betrayal.”
His men stepped forward, and Dianna instinctively backed away, her façade cracking. “What are you going to do?” she whispered.
“Ensuring that neither of you harm my family again.” Sylvester’s voice was ice.
“Your influence, your schemes…they end here.”
Beatrix’s bravado finally crumbled, and she fell to her knees. “Please, Sylvester! Please! Give us one more chance. We’ll make things right!”
But Sylvester didn’t waver. He turned to his men. “Escort them out. They are no longer welcome here. And ensure every financial tie they have to the family is severed.”
“D-Don’t forget my husband sacrificed himself to save your son. You should always be in debt to us!” Beatrix’s voice was desperate, her face pale as she tried to cling to any leverage.
Sylvester’s expression darkened, his gaze turning cold and sinister. “I know. And that’s why he deserves to recover soon—but not in the shadows of people who are using his condition for their personal gain.”
He turned slightly, his voice calm but authoritative. “Gael, we are moving Richard to the Rosewood Mansion.”
“You cannot take Richard anywhere.” Beatrix tried to stop, but a few men blocked her way.
Syvester had already neglected a lot of things when he let himself be guilt-tripped by these selfish people. But now that he knew the truth, he wanted to make everything right.

By the time Kalix and Winter arrived at the company, Sean was already waiting for them, a folder of new leads on Alexander in his hands.
“I’ve got something,” Sean began without preamble. “Gina managed to get in touch with Alexander. They exchanged numbers, which gives us a direct line to monitor his movements.”
Winter’s eyes widened. “Gina did what?”
“It’s risky,” Kalix muttered, though his expression remained calm, his sharp gaze fixed on Sean. “But it’s a smart move if we can leverage it.”
“The number is definitely Alexander’s,” Sean continued. “Niko confirmed it. We’ve got a trace on it now.”
A mixture of pride and worry warred within Winter. Gina was always bold, sometimes to a fault. But stepping directly into Alexander’s orbit was another level of danger.
“Gina can be reckless,” Winter whispered, concern tightening her voice. “But she’s also calculated when she’s serious. Still… I can’t ignore the risk.”
Kalix’s jaw tightened slightly, but he nodded. “We can’t afford any missteps.”
Winter straightened. “Sean, I want Gina protected at all costs.”
“Understood,” Sean replied without hesitation. He made sure of it.
“But this is also our best chance to dig deeper into Alexander’s life. We can trace his contacts, his locations—everything.”
Winter hesitated, her fingers tightening slightly around her coat. “Just make sure Gina stays safe.”
“I will,” Sean assured her and with a final nod, he left the room.
Kalix expected Winter to voice her concerns or maybe even confront Gina by calling her. Instead, she walked to the nearest chair and sank into it, silent.
Kalix’s gaze never left her. After a moment, he joined her, leaning back but remaining alert. Silence stretched between them, charged with unsaid thoughts.

“You’re wondering how Alexander fell for Gina’s move, aren’t you, Angel?” Kalix’s voice was quiet, yet precise.
Winter’s lips quirked in a faint smile. He read her too well. “How long do you think he’ll be fooled?”
Kalix considered her question. “As long as Gina plays it safe. If she keeps her emotions in check and maintains the facade, we’re fine. But the moment she lets her guard slip, Alexander will sense it.”
Winter frowned. “He’s that perceptive?”
“More than you think,” Kalix replied, his gaze sharpening. “Alexander is a strategist. A man who’s managed to stay hidden for so long won’t be easily manipulated. But if the threat seems harmless… he might just let his guard down.”
Winter’s fingers tapped lightly against the armrest, tension radiating from her. “I just hope Gina knows what she’s doing.”
Kalix leaned forward, his voice a low reassurance. “She’s smart. But we’ll be here to protect her if things go wrong.”
Winter nodded in understanding before the two decided to head for their respective works.

“I hope Mr. Roger makes a full recovery under Lily’s care,” Gina teased, walking in alongside Lily.
“In that case, I suppose we won’t be needing the nurses or the doctor anymore,” Lilac chimed in with a playful smile.
The lighthearted banter filled the room, easing the tension. Gina had learned about Roger’s condition through Lily, who hadn’t come home the previous night. Though surprised at first, she quickly understood Lily’s decision to stay by Roger’s side.
But now, seeing the couple in such good spirits, Gina knew it was time to take her leave.
“I think I should head out as well,” Lilac announced, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “I have some work waiting at the office, and I need to check on Grandpa to make sure he’s doing okay.”
Gina nodded in agreement, and together, they stepped out of the hospital room. They made their way through the lobby, the sterile scent of antiseptic gradually giving way to the crisp outdoor air.
As they neared the parking lot, Gina’s phone buzzed. She paused mid-step, her gaze falling on the screen.
“Alexander…” she whispered, shock threading her voice.
Lilac’s head snapped to her, eyes wide with surprise. “Alexander? You can’t keep him waiting,” she urged, a hint of curiosity and concern lacing her tone.
Taking a deep breath, Gina composed herself and answered the call.
“Miss Gina, for a moment, I thought you had given me the wrong number,” came Alexander’s deep, smoky voice from the other end.
Gina’s lips curled into a confident smile, slipping naturally into her poised demeanor. “I would never do that, Mr. Alexander,” she replied, her voice light and teasing. “Not after you’ve piqued my interest so thoroughly.”
“Well, that’s good to know, now that I’ve confirmed it,” Alexander’s deep, smooth voice teased. “In that case, I’d like to meet you.”
The sudden request caught Gina off guard, but she didn’t let it show. Her smile remained steady, her voice calm.
“Anytime,” she replied, her tone a perfect blend of confidence and intrigue.
Beside her, Lilac stood quietly, the name Alexander stirring something familiar in her memory. She tried to piece it together, but the harder she thought, the more it slipped through her grasp.
Before she could delve deeper, Gina’s voice cut through her thoughts.
“Change of plans,” Gina announced, slipping her phone back into her bag. “I’ll head to the company with you.”
Lilac blinked, caught off guard by the sudden decision, but nodded. “Sure, let’s go.”
Moments later, they stepped into the car, the engine humming to life. Gina’s gaze was fixed out the window, but Lilac couldn’t help but glance at her, curiosity burning in her chest. Who was Alexander, and why did his name feel so familiar?
As they exited the hospital’s underground parking area, the city stretched out before them—a bustling maze of glass towers and winding streets.
But while the city was alive with noise and movement, a tense, quiet anticipation settled between the two women, each lost in her own thoughts.
“I don’t know if I should ask this, but… I think I’ve heard that name before,” Lilac finally admitted, her brows knitted in concentration.
The name Alexander had been swirling in her mind ever since she heard it, a nagging familiarity she couldn’t quite place.
Gina shifted in her seat, her curious gaze settling on Lilac. “Maybe from your brother or Sean? They might have mentioned him.”
“No. Not them.” Lilac shook her head, frustration clear in her voice.
Gina’s brow furrowed. Her initial guess seemed reasonable—after all, Kalix and Sean were close, and it wouldn’t be surprising for them to have connections Gina didn’t know about. But if it wasn’t them…
Then, like a light switching on, Lilac’s eyes widened.
“Logan! I remember now. I heard Logan mention that name once!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with a mix of excitement and concern.
Gina’s interest sharpened. “Logan?”
“Absolutely,” Lilac insisted, her mind racing. “It wasn’t just a passing mention. He seemed… cautious. As if Alexander was someone important—maybe even dangerous.”
A slight chill washed over Gina, but she maintained her composed facade. “Well, that just makes things more interesting, doesn’t it?” She murmured, though her fingers tightened slightly on her bag resting on her lap.
Lilac leaned back, still processing the revelation. Alexander was no longer just a name; he was someone with a connection to Logan—someone who might bring more than just intrigue into their lives.
