Chapter 25: Chapter 25: You are my everything, Angel
“Your ex seems to be intrigued by you. He couldn’t even stop following you.” Kalix leaned against the car window, his elbow resting on the sill and his finger rubbing his chin in anticipation.
His snarky comment got Winter watched Eric standing behind them through the rear-view mirror. As their car moved farther, his figure eventually disappearing and she looked away.
Winter leaned back in her seat, exhaling deeply and closing her eyes.
“Why would you follow me here?” She inquired, oblivious to Kalix’s willingness to visit Greyson International. “I don’t want anyone to become suspicious of us,” she said, leading Kalix to arch his brow and give her a cold gaze.
“I promised to protect you, so you cannot refrain me from coming for you when you dare to make a reckless move” he said as he studied her.
Winter opened her eyes and glared at Kalix sharply. “And you expect me to stay still after whatever you said?” she demanded, perplexed as to why Kalix was stopping her when he had already verified her suspicions.
Kalix knew she’d misread his words and reached out to caress her face with his knuckles.
“I’ve always known you were reckless unbothered of how anyone perceives you, but sometimes taking baby steps is feasible. Do you know what your father is thinking right now after you warned him” he inquired, leaving Winter absolutely taken aback by his words and softness.
She blinked and nodded, indicating comprehension. “He will do anything to kick me out of this country,” she replied, leaving Kalix with a slight smirk on his face.
Winter wonder if she cracked a joke but before she could comprehend, Kalix put his arm around her waist and lifted her to sit on his lap. Her eyes widened at the thought and she swung them around in concern.
“What are you doing?” she gritted her teeth and slapped his shoulder, pleading with him to let her go.
“You seem to be quite acquainted with the way your father treats you, but not me, Angel.” Winter remained motionless in his arms, her gaze fixed on him.
Kalix continued to touch her skin, his eyes sinking into her beauty, and whispered “I will not tolerate him laying his hand on you or our daughter. I will break them in such a way that he will be permanently crippled.”
Winter gaped, his words so frightening that she swallowed, hard. As she continued to look into his eyes, the darkness seemed to draw her in, making her realize that the things he uttered were more than simply a warning; they were a testament to how serious he was.
“Y-You won’t do that,” she murmured, and he grinned, confusing her even more with his composure.
“Try me,” he said, placing his thumb to her lips and gently tracing them.
“When it comes to you and Star, nothing can stop me,” he said, causing Winter to melt into his embrace.
He was at it again, making her feel weak in the knees.
Despite Winter’s best efforts, Kalix’s charm was so effective that she completely forgot about her anger at him.
Kalix, on the other hand, watched Winter melt into his touch before carefully leaning forward and brushing their lips
“You are my everything, Angel”
Winter felt her heart skip a beat as their breaths combined, sending her thoughts into a blur with those sweet words.
She didn’t know how long she’d be able to restrain herself, but knowing how bad things could get with him, she immediately pulled back, making a safe gap between them.
“This wasn’t something we were talking about” Winter tried to divert herself by looking somewhere other than him.
Kalix smiled, tightening his grip around her waist as he continued to admire her. “Go on, talk whatever you want,”
Winter felt her pulse still pounding frantically inside her chest as she tried to relax. Suddenly a notion crossed her head and spoke, “You promise not to let anyone know about us in the contract we sign”
Winter brought up the clause she mentioned before making him sign the contract. No matter how jealous he becomes, he will never act on impulse and expose them.
Kalix nodded attentively. Though he wasn’t going to follow it entirely, he wouldn’t dare to go against it because he knew Winter would use it against him and back off.
“I still believe no one knows about us,” he responded, causing her to roll her eyes in irritation.

“You’re not taking my words seriously, and if you keep doing that, I won’t work with you,” she stated, prompting Kalix to take a step back. After all, he couldn’t go against his ladylove’s wishes because all he wanted was to win her heart.
Just as he was about to react, the phone in his pocket chimed, and Winter hurriedly rose from his lap to watch him answer the phone.
Kalix’s eyes darkened as he stared at the screen, leaving Winter in the dark about who was calling him, but then he said something that got her furrowed.
“Yes, Grandpa,” he answered, sparing a glance at Winter who instantly looked away as if she didn’t care.
“Why aren’t you in the office, Kalix?” the old man exclaimed from the other end. His remarks were so forceful that his visage became completely emotionless.
Winter would not have bothered to look at him, but the sudden change in Kalix’s demeanor made her question if everything was fine and they weren’t arguing.
“I’m on my way,” he said with the same dismissive tone before hanging up.
“It’s fine if you have to get back to work. Just drop me here, and you can go on your way.” Despite Winter’s realization of the gravity of the situation, she regretted saying those remarks in response to Kalix’s grim expression.
She pretended to be strong, but she secretly frightened Kalix. A lot or a little, but she did.
Meanwhile, inside the company, Sylvester looked at Sean, striking him with his deadpan expression. Rather than voice his disappointment in him, the old man chose to confront his grandson instead.
Despite being the chief executive officer, he had no excuse to turn a blind eye to the company’s financial woes. If not for the call he recieved from David Grayson, he wouldn’t have know what his grandson was upto.
Lilac, ignorant of the tension, strolled into the cabin furiously to confront her brother, however she found Sean instead and snapped.
“Sean why didn’t you inform me that Winter and Seren had moved in with brother to his penthouse?”
Sean saw her girl as if she were possessed by a ghost. Despite his pleas to the gods for help, his soul perished within.
Lilac’s brow furrowed as she noticed the horrible expression on his face, then her gaze shifted to side.
Her lips quivered at the sight of the old man who shot daggers at her, leaving her scrambling for words.
“G-Grandpa, what brings you to the office”
