Chapter 28: Chapter 28: You’re dealing with the wrong person
Sitting in his office, Eric tried to concentrate on his work; however, Winter’s thoughts kept swirling around in his head. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy at the notion of Winter departing with someone, even though he had always assumed she was single.
Yes, Eric kept track of her life, even if he never witnessed it firsthand. He knew Byron was there for her, but he ceased offering assistance once Winter refused to accept any of his help.
Eric was glad that Winter was doing well even while she was alone, but there was a gap in his heart that would never go away knowing that she had given birth to a child after sleeping with a stranger.
“Did she start seeing someone after she got back?” he asked, a profound scowl appearing on his face.
Winter had just been in Country P for five days when she found out about Byron’s accident. Finding a partner in that amount of time is simply not feasible for her.
“Then who was the person she left with?” the question arose again.
Eric was in the process of organizing his thoughts when a phone call disturbed his trance. He growled as soon as he saw who it was.
Agnes had become too clingy lately, and contacting him every hour was grating on his nerves. He took up the phone and hurriedly turned it mute before banging the screen on the table to avoid viewing the flicker.
Eric was in no mood to talk to Agnes, but his ignorance irritated her.
“Why isn’t he answering my calls?” Agnes clenched her teeth, glancing at the phone. When Eric failed to respond after another attempt, she dismissed it with contempt.
Agnes was upset when Eric left her alone in his apartment in the morning. She intended to spend more time with him, but he vanished before she could wake up.
It was often difficult to grasp what was going on in his head, and now that Winter has returned, he has begun to act coldly toward her.
‘It’s all your fault, Winter. Why did you even return to our lives?’ she sneered mentally.
Her car soon came to a standstill in front of Drameframe Studio, where she was scheduled to photograph a magazine cover. However, upon her arrival, she discovered Gina Morus, another well-known model, and her competition, scheduled to photograph for the same magazine.
The shot was originally scheduled for separate times, but owing to changes, they had to do it on the same day, which upset Agnes even more.
“Tell the team to schedule my photoshoot first.” Agnes stated, “I don’t have an entire day for this bullshit.”
Because of her popularity and connections, even the company she would work for would cave in to her demands.
Agnes presents herself to the world as a kind, innocent model, but no one outside of her small group of friends knew how obstinate she really was.Being the daughter of a well-known businessman provided numerous benefits, and she was well-versed in handling them.
When she stated those words, her assistant agreed and left the room, only to return moments later with a forlorn expression.
“Ma’am, they denied it because Miss Gina would not consent to the agreement. She stated she’d stick to the schedule—” Her assistant suddenly shuddered and lowered her gaze when she saw her brooding eyes.
Agnes was unfamiliar with rejection, and when the team denied her demands, it did not sit well.
“Let’s see how they don’t agree,” she sneered and grabbed her phone, quickly making a call.
Outside, Gina was busy showcasing her talents, giving the best shots and impressing the photographer. She was a rising model, and with her professionalism, she was poised to control the modeling world soon.
As the photo shoot continued, someone from the team approached the photographer and whispered.
Gina was left perplexed as the shoot abruptly came to a halt.
She knew there was another model in line for the photoshoot, but she didn’t know who it was. But when she spotted the photographer’s awful expression, something sparked.
“What’s going on?” Gina inquired, and the man offered an apology.
“Miss Gina, there is a change in the schedule.” His comments led her to frown, but before she could process her thoughts, her gaze went to Agnes approaching them.
“I’ll do the photoshoot,” Agnes replied nonchalantly while standing in front of them. Her eyes were degrading towards Gina; that didn’t go unnoticed.
Redirecting her attention to the man, Gina saw him lower his eyes in defeat. She understood that the influence Agnes wielded over them was not something they could fight for. Furthermore, Gina was not someone who would raise problems for her team or her agency.

“Okay,” she responded, taking a step aside to allow Agnes to pass her.
Gina stared at the girl, but a smile quickly appeared on her face.
“Ah!”

“You must be joking.” Winter couldn’t stop laughing when Gina told her about the photoshoot turmoil. “Agnes ended up spraining her leg,” she asked.
“I wish you were there to witness her scheme unraveling. She messed up all by herself.” Gina, too, found it uncontrollable to hold her laughter.
After allowing Agnes to go with the photoshoot first, she ended up tangling her leg in the wire lying on the floor and tripping, landing on her face and spraining her leg.
Despite the eventual cancellation of her shoot, Gina continued to give it her all before finishing her portion.
“By the way, where are you now?” Gina inquired now that her work was over and she desired to spend some time with her friend.
“In the hospital,” Winter said, and without waiting another second, she grabbed her purse and dashed to the hospital.
Meanwhile inside the hospital, Agnes was enraged. Not only did the whole falling incident humiliate her, but she couldn’t deny that Gina had triumphed over her.
The way she gazed at her made her blood boil with fury. She dared to mock her with those playful eyes.
“You’re dealing with the wrong person, Gina Morus. Just wait and see how you ruin your career now.”
She pulled out her phone and made a call, her eyes sparking with wickedness as she spoke.
