Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Soon everything will be ours
David’s sudden decision to exit the conference hall without providing a clear explanation raised significant doubts among investors and board members regarding his reliability. Despite the surprise everyone felt at his denial, Eric also struggled to comprehend David’s change of heart.
A man who had been eager to lead the company suddenly alters his decision, leaving everyone astonished.
“It was surprising to see him exit the conference hall so abruptly,” Eric remarked during the call.
There was a contemplation occurring in his mind that raised many questions.
‘What was he looking at on that phone? And why did he alter his opinion immediately after seeing it?’ he thought.
“It’s fortunate that he chose to withdraw on his own; otherwise, we would have needed to devise a new strategy to deal with him,” a voice on the call interrupted his thoughts.
“That place is yours, and remember, no one—absolutely no one—can take it away from you.” Eric’s eyes darkened as he listened to the words. His voice carried a fervor that brought back memories of all the struggles he endured to reach his current position, and he was determined not to let anyone take it from him.
“I know, and don’t worry, soon everything will be ours,” he said with the same malice that made the person on the phone smile.
Eric understood that he had a significant journey ahead of him; nonetheless, he was resolute in his pursuit of his goals and would not rest until he achieved them.

Outside Daisy Dream School, Winter embraced her daughter for the fifth time, unwilling to release her every time she prepared to enter the school gates.
She had been crying all the time, and Seren, like a sympathetic child, kept stroking her back, coaxing to the point that her arm began to pain.
Mrs. Brook, the teacher in charge of handling Seren, watched the woman anxiously, but soon another sniffing sound reached her ears, prompting her to dart her head to the side.
“This is so touching,” Sean said, wiping his tears away with his handkerchief as he gazed at the two lovely souls in front of him.
Mrs. Brook abruptly sensed her incongruity. Nevertheless, she persisted in reassuring the young man beside her.
“Mom, please don’t cry. It’s not like I’m going off to war or anything,” Seren said, clearly done with the coaxing tone, as she pulled her mother away.
Winter sniffed and swiftly grabbed a tissue from her purse, then carefully adjusted her makeup.
“I am not concerned about you, but for the students who will be studying with you. I just hope you don’t get into a fight with anyone, much less break their bones or teeth in the process,” she said, looking at her daughter, who simply grinned, ignoring her worries.
However, the other two people standing nearby were in complete astonishment. Sean was aware that Seren had a mischievous side, but he never anticipated her to physically confront her classmate in such a way, especially for someone so seemingly innocent.
However, weren’t these traits passed down to her from her parents? He chided.
After returning to normal, Winter stood up and faced Mrs. Brooke, the middle-aged woman Kalix had assigned to monitor Seren.
She appreciated that he opted to respect her concerns about Seren’s freedom; however, she also wished for her daughter to be safeguarded in case any issues arose.
“I apologize for the interruption, Mrs. Brooke. I was simply too overwhelmed.” Winter’s comments made the woman’s lips twitch.
“It’s alright, Miss Winter, but for the moment we should go inside.” The class would soon start,” the lady politely expressed, and shortly after, she and Seren walked inside the school.
The duo quickly approached the parked car, and as soon as Kalix caught sight of Winter’s tear-filled eyes, his gaze darted to Sean, causing him to flinch in place.
“That’s not me, boss,” he quickly replied in defense, causing Stanley to chuckle at his predicament.
They both understood the extent of their boss’s protectiveness over Winter, and witnessing her in tears signaled impending chaos.
Kalix remained silent, his gaze fixed on her as they drove to the J&K International. However, he secretly yearned to spend more time with Winter.

Maintaining their professional demeanor, Winter exited the car away from the office building and chose to take the common elevators for the staff to approach the main office.
Dianna Thames, the person in charge of the interview the day before, was her intended boss.
Back then, Winter worked for a firm; however, it wasn’t as renowned as the one she was in now, but one thing that made her comfortable was the lack of people knowing about her.
Winter wanted to work not because Kalix wanted her to, but for the sake of her own independence. She wanted to do what she liked without being a burden to anyone. Regardless of the circumstances, she was determined to put forth her utmost effort and establish a reputation for herself through her abilities and creativity.
“Hi,” a voice suddenly drew her attention to the side, where a lady with specs smiled and waved slightly at her.
“Are you new here?” Mia inquired.
She had certainly encountered Winter the day before, alongside the other candidates who attended the interview. However, she did not anticipate that she would be the one chosen.
Diana Thames, the manager of the finance department, posed a formidable challenge; however, her endorsement of Winter transformed Mia’s perception of her. A person who was rarely impressed by others recognized the exceptional quality of Winter, which was remarkable in itself.
Winter offered a faint smile as she met the girl’s inquisitive gaze, feeling a bit overwhelmed, yet she couldn’t help but nod in reply.
“I am Mia,” the girl said as she introduced herself.
“Winter,” she uttered without revealing her entire name. She favored it that way, as it allowed her to feel more confident and liberated from the weight of her family name.
Winter had just taken her seat when she received a call from Diana asking her to come to her office.
Gathering her courage, Winter quickly made her way to Diana’s cabin. She sensed that her job here might not be easy, yet she resolved to put forth her best effort, fully aware that she couldn’t disappoint Kalix.
‘Kalix? Why should I be concerned if he gets upset or not?’ Winter pondered as she stood at the door.
Recently, she found herself thinking about him far more than usual. His actions have gradually begun to provoke her thoughts, yet she reminded herself that she would not succumb to any of it, aware that reopening her heart would ultimately lead to another shattering experience.
Winter took a big breath and knocked on the door, stepping inside, but Diana’s piercing stare cautioned for a second.
‘Why does she have to glare at me all the time? It’s not like I am threatening her or something. Winter pondered and slowly made her way towards the huge rectangular table.
“Winter, you are five minutes late.” Her words got Winter to look at her watch, but what surprised her was the words she said next.
“Do you believe that being the daughter of the Grayson family will save you from the consequences?”
