Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Will you miss me?
Winter returned to work, but instead of heading straight to her desk, she found herself walking toward Kalix’s office.
Standing before the door, she took a deep breath and knocked. Silence.
Her brows furrowed. Was he not in?
Without dwelling on it, she pushed the door open, only to find the space empty.
A strange wave of disappointment washed over her. She wasn’t sure why—it wasn’t like she expected him to always be there. He was the boss, after all. He had responsibilities, meetings, and things to handle.
Shaking off the feeling, Winter turned back and returned to her desk, burying herself in work.
When lunchtime approached, she hesitated. Instead of heading out immediately, she found herself waiting—waiting for a call she wasn’t even sure would come.
“Aren’t you coming?”
Winter looked up to find Mia standing beside her, ready to leave for the office canteen.
Her gaze flickered briefly to the man standing next to Mia. Jerry. She had seen him around since the day she joined, but they had never spoken.
Noticing her look, Jerry gave her a small wave. Winter returned it with a polite smile before shifting her attention back to Mia.
“You go ahead. I’ll join you later.”
Mia exchanged a knowing glance with Jerry before the two of them left.
Just as Winter turned back to her desk, her phone buzzed. A call.
She didn’t even need to check the name.
“Come to my office,” Kalix’s deep voice commanded before the call abruptly ended.
Winter huffed at his curt tone, but she couldn’t help the small flutter in her stomach as she stood and made her way to his office.
The moment she stepped inside, her eyes widened in surprise.
Kalix was already seated on the couch, a spread of food laid out on the small table before him. Various dishes—some of her favorites—were neatly arranged as if he had planned this in advance.
“Come. Let’s have lunch,” he said as soon as he saw her.
Winter approached, still processing the unexpected sight.
“I thought you were taking me out for lunch,” she remarked, arching a brow as she sat beside him.
Kalix met her gaze with a knowing look. “Oh, so Lilac can tag along and ruin our alone time? No, thank you. I prefer having you to myself.”
Winter couldn’t help but smile. She had already suspected as much when she saw the food waiting in his office.
“You do realize she’s your sister, right?” She teased, picking up a fork and plate.
Kalix shrugged, leaning back comfortably. “Yes. And I also know how bothersome she can be.”
Winter didn’t speak much as they both focused on their meal. The silence between them was comfortable, yet charged with an underlying tension.
“Did you come to my office earlier?” Kalix asked suddenly.
Winter paused mid-bite, meeting his gaze for a few seconds before nodding. “I wanted to talk to you.”
Kalix studied her intently, curiosity flickering in his dark eyes. Then, as if piecing it together, he asked, “Was it about what happened at Seren’s school?”

She wasn’t surprised that he knew. She had already assumed as much, given that Stanley had been there by the time she left.
“Yes,” she admitted, setting down her fork. “But now that I think about it, I realize it wasn’t you.”
Her words made the corner of Kalix’s lips curl into an amused smile.
“But I doubt you don’t know who it was,” she added, watching him closely.
Kalix leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. “It was Grandpa,” he revealed, his tone carrying a hint of admiration. “He threatened Thames International with bankruptcy because their chairman’s son dared to lay a hand on his great-granddaughter.”
Winter exhaled sharply. She should have known.
Kalix had been informed about the incident at Daisy Dream Academy, but before he could step in, his grandfather had already handled it. And, in true Andreas fashion, he had done so swiftly and decisively.
“Don’t look so surprised,” Kalix murmured. “We’re all very protective of the people we love.”
Winter didn’t respond, but his words lingered in her mind as they resumed their meal.
By the time they finished, Winter stood up, intending to leave before anyone caught a glimpse of them together. But before she could reach the door, Kalix’s voice stopped her.
“I won’t be coming home tonight.”
Winter turned, brows furrowing. “Why?”
“I have business in Country J. I’m flying out this evening.” He stepped closer, his eyes never leaving hers.
A strange sensation twisted inside her chest. Tight. Uncomfortable.
“What happened?” The question slipped from her lips before she could stop herself.
Kalix’s eyes glimmered with something she couldn’t quite place—satisfaction, warmth, maybe even hope. Her concern was rare, and he clearly noticed it.
“Nothing you need to worry about,” he assured her. “I’ll be back in two days.”
But the uneasiness within her didn’t fade. She knew he wasn’t obligated to tell her anything, yet the idea of him being gone unsettled her in a way she didn’t understand.
“What about Star?” she asked, reaching for an excuse. “She’ll keep asking for you.”
Kalix stepped forward, closing the distance between them in a single, deliberate move.
“I’ll talk to her,” he murmured. His hand lifted, fingers grazing her cheek in a slow, almost reverent touch.
Winter’s breath hitched. A shiver ran down her spine.
His thumb brushed against her skin, his touch igniting something deep within her.
Her lashes fluttered, and she instinctively closed her eyes for a moment.
Then, Kalix leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her cheek.
His breath was warm against her skin as he whispered, “What about you, Angel? Will you miss me?”
His voice was low, almost teasing, yet laced with something more—something dangerously intoxicating.
Winter’s pulse pounded in her ears as she opened her eyes, meeting his intense gaze.
But she said nothing.
Because she didn’t know the answer.
Or maybe she did—but she wasn’t ready to admit it.
“I-I think I should go. Someone might see us together,” Winter whispered, but despite her words, her body refused to move.
Kalix’s expectant gaze pinned her in place, his smoldering eyes holding her captive.
“Will you miss me, Angel?” He asked again, his voice husky as he leaned in, his nose brushing against hers in a teasing caress.
Winter’s knees buckled at the overwhelming sensation.
Before she could respond, his lips captured hers in a slow, intoxicating kiss, leaving her mind in a hazy daze. When he pulled back, his deep emerald eyes gleamed with amusement.
“I will miss you like crazy,” he murmured before pressing another lingering peck against her lips.
Heat coursed through Winter’s veins, setting her entire body ablaze. She tried to resist, to stay in control, but the more she fought, the faster her resolve crumbled.
Kalix had a way of unraveling her—of pulling her into the fire with him.
Before she even realized it, she was kissing him back.
“Why would you do that?” she breathed, fingers tangling in his hair as she deepened the kiss.
Kalix smirked against her lips. “Because I knew you’d lose it,” he teased.
“Very bad, Kalix,” she murmured, fisting his hair as her tongue slid into his mouth, meeting his in a desperate, feverish dance.
With a low growl, Kalix gripped her waist and guided her backward until her back met the wall. His body pressed against hers, firm and unyielding, as his lips claimed her with unrestrained hunger.
His kisses were searing, filled with an insatiable need that made her head spin.
Kalix was a man who always took control, and right now, he was devouring her like a starved man lost in the desert.
The thought of being away from her for two days was unbearable. His body ached for her, his heart longed for her, and every second away would feel like torture.
And then, between heated kisses, he whispered words that made her entire world tilt.
“I love you, Angel.”
Winter froze.
Their lips parted, and his deep emerald eyes bore into hers with raw sincerity.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her breath uneven, but his sudden confession knocked every ounce of air from her lungs.
‘Did she love him?’
The question echoed in her mind, loud and suffocating.
She craved his touch, melted under his kisses, but when it came to matters of the heart, she always found herself tongue-tied—trapped between fear and uncertainty.
His confession was unexpected, and though she desperately wanted to understand her feelings, everything inside her felt like a tangled mess.
Kalix studied her expression, reading the confusion in her eyes, and instead of pressuring her, he smiled.
“Take your time, Angel,” he murmured, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I don’t expect an answer right away. But one day, you will know. And I’m willing to wait.”
Winter’s heart skipped a beat.
And before she could process anything else, his lips were on hers again, pulling her back into the depths of a passion she couldn’t escape.
