Chapter 68: Chapter 68:He is exactly my type
“Am I your personal maid or something? You keep asking me to feed you,” Winter muttered, bringing another bite close to his lips.
Kalix smirked before taking the food from her fingers. “You’re going to be my wife. It’s better you get accustomed to your wifely duties—both in and out of the bedroom.”
Winter furrowed her brows at his words. She should have objected, but for some reason, she didn’t. Something about the way he said it made her feel… accustomed to the idea.
‘Will it really be that bad? Now I have to take care of two kids instead of one.’
Shaking off the thought, she continued feeding him.
“I won’t bother asking how you found out I left the house since Stanley was with me,” she said, narrowing her eyes at him. “But why didn’t you panic when you couldn’t reach me?”
She watched him closely, patiently waiting for his response.
There was a subtle flinch in his expression—a tiny shift she wouldn’t have noticed if she weren’t paying attention. She knew with Stanley around, there was no real reason for him to be worried. So why had he dropped everything and come after her just because she hadn’t answered his calls?
Kalix held her gaze, his thoughts swirling behind dark eyes.
‘How was he supposed to tell her it wasn’t just about not reaching her—but that someone had threatened to harm her?’
“Will you believe me if I say I missed you so much that I changed my mind?” he asked, a faint grin tugging at his lips.
Winter rolled her eyes and set the plate back on the table. “I am not doing it again,” she muttered and got up to leave.
It was useless to expect Kalix to be serious for once. But before she could take a step away, he pulled her back, making her land on his lap.
“I’m telling the truth, Angel. Namiss kita,” he murmured, bringing his lips dangerously close to hers.
Before he could capture them, Winter placed a hand on his chest, stopping him.
“We’re not doing this, Kalix. I need to sleep now that I’ve fed you,” she said firmly.
His arms loosened around her waist, and without another word, she stood up and walked out of his room, leaving him behind.
Kalix kept his gaze on the door, his mind struggling to process her indifference. He knew Winter was upset because he hadn’t given her the answer she wanted. But he felt withholding the truth was for the best—he didn’t want her to be cautious or afraid.
He had promised to protect her. And he would continue to do so, without making her feel trapped.
Exhaling, he stood up and walked onto the balcony, his phone already in hand.
“Tighten security,” he ordered. “I want eyes on every damn soul that even dares to look at my family.”
Ending the call, he kept his gaze fixed on the dark night, his jaw tightening with silent determination.

The next morning, Winter and Kalix left for work after dropping Seren off at school. However, throughout the drive, Winter remained unusually quiet.
To an outsider, it might have seemed normal. But for Sean and Stanley, the silence in the car was suffocating.
The tension between the couple was palpable, but what unsettled them more was their boss’s demeanor. Kalix, who had been like a blooming flower in the presence of his sun, now radiated a dark, brooding aura.
He looked no less than a sullen child being ignored by his mother.
“Why do I suddenly feel hot?” Sean muttered, loosening his tie as the tension inside the car became unbearable.
Stanley pursed his lips and focused on the road, but despite his efforts to act normal, he couldn’t ignore how grumpy their boss had been sitting in the back.
It was going to be a long ride.

Ignoring the man behind her, Winter made her way to her desk, while Kalix continued toward his office, acting nonchalant. But Sean wasn’t fooled. If anything, he was more concerned than ever about the couple’s strained dynamic.
Following Kalix inside, Sean watched as he took his seat in his executive chair.
“Is everything alright, boss?” he asked cautiously, only to be met with a seething glare that made him flinch.
Kalix’s mood was already sour from Winter’s cold indifference, and now Sean was only rubbing salt in the wound by bringing it up.
“Schedule,” Kalix said in a deadpan tone.
Sean immediately straightened, scrambling to present the day’s agenda.
“Make sure you visit the studio and check that everything is running smoothly,” Kalix added, handing him a tabloid.
Sean pursed his lips but nodded faintly. Without another word, he turned and left the room, giving his boss the privacy he clearly needed. But little did he know, even in his absence, Kalix found no peace.
Not when all he wanted was to hear from her.

“It’s not like I scolded you so badly that you have to keep everything to yourself,” Lily’s voice broke through Gina’s chain of thoughts.
The hangover drink she had this morning had helped clear her headache, but what truly left her tongue-tied was the absence of the man she had hoped to see today.
Gina knew there was a photoshoot scheduled, and while she had been looking forward to it, deep down, she had also been eager to see Sean. But he wasn’t here.
She had learned that he had flown out for work and wouldn’t be back for two days. The thought of not seeing her man made her mood instantly sour.
“You wouldn’t understand, Lily. I wish I could see him all the time,” Gina groaned, getting up from her seat in frustration.
Lily squinted her eyes. “Don’t tell me you’re actually serious about that assistant. Gina, you’ve never been into anyone—let alone pursuing someone who isn’t even your type.”
Gina shot her a look of disbelief. “Who said he isn’t my type? He’s exactly my type! The only problem is, he’s ridiculously frigid whenever I’m around.”
Lily simply shook her head. She knew Gina’s fascination with men never lasted long. But still, a small part of her couldn’t help but wonder—what if this time, she was serious?
