Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Don’t they look perfect
Kalix was in the middle of his work when Dianna walked into his office unannounced.
“Don’t you know how to knock?” His cold, sharp words halted her in her tracks.
He didn’t even spare her a glance, his focus remaining on the file before him. But his dismissive tone cut through her pride like a blade.
Dianna sighed, displeasure evident on her face.
“What’s with your behavior toward me, Kalix?” She finally asked, unable to hold back any longer. “I’ve watched you act indifferent, treating me like I’m nothing. Why?”
She had thought patience would make him acknowledge her. That if she proved her devotion, he would see her. But no matter how much she tried, he only seemed to drift further away.
Did he even realize how much she admired him? How she had once looked forward to being his wife? Yet, his cold indifference never wavered, and just when she thought she had a chance unless Winter stepped in, blocking her path to him entirely.
Kalix finally paused, his piercing gaze lifting to meet hers.
“My office isn’t a place for personal conversations. And as far as I remember, we were never close to begin with,” he said, his tone clipped and final. “I suggest Miss Dianna focus on work and nothing more.”
A clear, unmistakable line had been drawn between them.
Dianna’s expression twisted in frustration as she stepped closer, refusing to back down.
“You might never acknowledge me, but remember…Grandpa Sylvester will always consider me over Winter,” Dianna said, her voice laced with confidence.
Kalix’s eyes darkened, his expression unreadable.
Leaning back in his chair, he let out a low chuckle. A smirk curled on his lips, but the malice in his gaze was enough to keep her on edge.
“He can consider whoever he wants,” he said smoothly. “But the decision is always mine. And just because I’m tolerating you now doesn’t mean I will continue to do so. Cross the line again, and you’ll find yourself thrown out.”
Dianna clenched her jaw, his piercing gaze cutting through her seething rage.
“You won’t do it,” she hissed through gritted teeth.
Kalix tilted his head, amusement flickering across his face. “I can do anything, Dianna. Remember, I was just a bullet away from shooting your sister. And after the stunt you tried to pull on Winter the day before yesterday, I wouldn’t mind doing the same to you.”
Dianna stood frozen, her breath catching in her throat. Her confidence wavered, and for the first time, fear slithered down her spine.
So they both knew. How foolish of her to think Winter had been oblivious.
But unlike Winter, Kalix wasn’t the type to offer second chances. He didn’t believe in warnings, only in consequences.
The only reason he had held back for both Rita and Dianna was because of Sylvester. Out of respect for what their father had once done for him, Kalix had given them a chance.
But every chance had its limit.
And for Kalix, that limit was the people he loved.
A single scratch on them, and he would burn the perpetrator alive.
Yet despite that, she and her sister had dared to defy him.
While Kalix was busy confronting Dianna outside, Winter had already set her eyes on them. She was trying to analyze what was happening between them, but she wasn’t skilled enough to read their minds or lips.
“Don’t they look perfect even while talking to one another?” Mia whispered, breaking through Winter’s thoughts.
Her eyes were dreamy as she admired the pair, unable to hold back her excitement.
“You know, everyone in the office is rooting for them,” she added, causing Winter’s lips to twitch in annoyance.

Winter shot Mia a glance and forced a smile. Normally, she wouldn’t be bothered by such remarks, but now that Mia had mentioned how much people admired Kalix and Dianna together, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy.
“You think, unlike our boss, Assistant Sean would also have someone in his life?” Mia suddenly mused, shifting the conversation.
Following Mia’s gaze, Winter saw where she was looking and there she was, now admiring Sean from a distance.
“Don’t tell me you have a crush on Sean?” Winter asked, surprised at how Mia’s eyes were practically drooling over him.
‘Gina would skin her alive,’ Winter thought to herself, but she chose not to say anything. Instead, she watched as Mia blushed in response.
Winter then noticed that with Sean’s arrival, Dianna had already exited the room. However, on her way out, she didn’t hold back from shooting daggers in Winter’s direction.
“Why is she looking at us like that? Did she catch us eyeing her man?” Mia whispered, shuddering as goosebumps crawled over her skin. She quickly resumed her work, but Winter, on the other hand, continued to dwell on her words.
‘Her man? Who is her man? I don’t see anybody,’ Winter thought, suppressing a smirk.
Her eyes refused to leave Dianna’s until the woman finally turned and walked away.
Heaving a sigh, Winter turned to resume her work but caught a glimpse of Kalix’s eyes on her through the glass walls. Her heart skipped a beat.
‘If only they knew their boss only had his eyes on me,’ she mused, a small smirk curling on her lips as she looked away.

[Inside]
“You told Miss Winter everything?” Sean asked, surprised by Kalix’s words. He had never expected him to open up to Winter, let alone consider his advice.
But he was glad that he did. And now the real question was, what next? What did she think of everything?
Kalix remained quiet, his eyes fixed on the woman he admired from his office. A faint smile curled at the corner of his lips.
Sean’s lips twitched at the sight of his completely whipped boss, shamelessly admiring his woman while making his own life miserable.
‘If only my life were as easy as his,’ Sean mused bitterly.
“She refused to kiss me unless I talked. What else was I supposed to do?” Kalix said casually.
“…”
Sean’s jaw dropped like a broken robot.
Kalix’s shamelessness was unraveling layer by layer, and every time he spoke, Sean felt as if reality was slapping him in the face.
The reality of his utterly shameless boss whom he had clearly underestimated all his life.
“Any updates?” Kalix asked, smoothly changing the subject.
Sean exhaled and nodded. “You were right to suspect Dianna and Agnes. They went to the same university and have known each other since then. But it was only after Miss Winter’s identity was exposed to them that they reconnected.”
Kalix nodded in understanding. “And what about the ex who was following Winter?” he asked, his gaze firmly locking onto Sean.
Sean let out a sigh. The obsessed lover was back to intimidating him.
“He hasn’t made a move yet,” Sean responded.
Ever since they discovered that the man tailing Winter and Hayes to the company had been sent by Eric, Kalix’s curiosity about him had only grown.
But one thing that kept him at bay was the fact that Winter had never truly been affected by Eric. The slap she had given him, the one Kalix had heard about, still made his heart swell with pride.
“Keep tabs on Agnes. I wonder why she hasn’t made a move yet,” Kalix said, his voice laced with suspicion.
Sean nodded, making a mental note of his orders before retreating, leaving Kalix alone with his thoughts.
Kalix leaned back, his fingers tapping against his desk as he pondered the man who still had his eyes on Winter.
“Eric Spencer… Who the hell are you?”
