- Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Throw Them Out
Chapter 11: Throw Them Out Chapter 11: Throw Them Out The living room fell into an eerie silence, the atmosphere seemingly frozen in place.
Mrs.
Hayes’ face turned visibly pale, her lips trembling as she stammered in a panicked tone, “Logan, I…
I didn’t mean it that way…” Selina raised an eyebrow, a trace of mockery flashing in her eyes.
Moments ago, this very Mrs.
Hayes, so eager to slap her, now cowered before Logan.
A classic two-faced hypocrite-truly a master at tailoring her attitude to her audience.
Logan narrowed his eyes slightly, a suffocating pressure radiating from his gaze.
“Oh?
Then, Mrs.
Hayes, what exactly do you mean?” That single sentence landed like a heavy hammer on Mrs.
Hayes’ heart.
She flinched, hastily stammering, “Logan, Selina…
someone like her doesn’t deserve you!
She…
she caused her mother’s death.
The entire Clark family says she’s a cursed star, born to bring misfortune!” Her words gained momentum, and her tone grew more self-assured.
“She’ll ruin you too!
My daughter, on the other hand, has always been the Hayes family’s lucky charm.
Only with her can you ward off disaster and thrive!” Logan’s thin lips curved into a brief, icy smile.
Before Mrs.
Hayes could continue, that cold chuckle silenced her, leaving her frozen in place.
She swallowed her remaining words nervously.
“Logan, I…
I’m only doing this for your own good…” “A cursed star?” Logan’s voice was so calm it bordered on icy detachment.
“Mrs.
Hayes, do you think I’d be afraid of a so-called curse?” For a moment, both Mrs.
Hayes and Butler Wilson broke out in cold sweats.
Of course.
The entire Reid family, from top to bottom, feared Logan, believing him to be a harbinger of misfortune.

How could he possibly care about such baseless superstition?
Logan didn’t spare them another glance, his voice cutting like a blade.
“See her out.” “See me out?” Mrs.
Hayes flinched at the words but quickly suppressed her fear and began pleading again.
“Logan!
You can’t be so heartless!
My daughter is more understanding and talented than Selina.
How can you bear not to marry her?
She’s loved you wholeheartedly since she was a child.
What will she do if you abandon her now?” Selina scoffed at that, her tone tinged with playful amusement.
“Mrs.
Hayes, your logic is truly fascinating.
By your reasoning, as long as someone admires Logan, he’s obligated to marry them?
Should he spend his whole life doing nothing but getting married?” Mrs.
Hayes choked on her retort, nearly losing her breath in frustration.
How dare this Selina-a nobody-mock her, an elder of Logan’s?
Fury surged within Mrs.
Hayes.
She raised her hand in a fit of rage, shouting, “Shut your mouth!” As the slap descended, Selina sidestepped lightly, effortlessly dodging it.
However, the force of the motion caught her necklace, snapping it.
Without the necklace to conceal it, the scar where her neck met her chest was exposed for all to see.
Mrs.
Hayes’ eyes lit up as though she’d uncovered a shocking secret.
She shrieked excitedly, “Logan!
Look!
She has a scar on her chest!
How could someone like her be worthy of becoming Mrs.
Reid?
Marrying her is a complete joke!” Butler Wilson chimed in, his disdain barely veiled.
“Exactly, young master.
The matriarch selected so many accomplished debutantes for you, each far superior to this woman.
Bringing someone with such a scar to a gala would utterly disgrace the Reid family!” The two of them carried on, their faces twisted in contempt, as if Selina’s scar were an unforgivable sin.
Logan’s expression darkened abruptly, a chilling aura radiating from him.
His voice dropped, cold and menacing, brimming with murderous intent.
“It seems Mrs.
Hayes has grown too comfortable and forgotten who I am.” Then, in an icy tone, he commanded, “Jack!” The ominous tension finally struck Mrs.
Hayes, her face turning ashen in an instant.
She shook her head frantically, her voice a panicked jumble.
“Logan, no!
That’s not it!
I was only doing it for your own good!
Please, listen to me-let me go!
Let go of me!” Jack, clearly losing patience, stepped forward and grabbed her with one hand, his voice cold and unyielding.
“Mrs.
Hayes, excuse me.” Selina stood frozen, watching as the once-imposing Mrs.
Hayes was dragged out, sobbing and pleading.
The swift and decisive action left her stunned, barely able to process what had just occurred.
Before she could gather her thoughts, Logan’s piercing gaze shifted to Butler Wilson.
The chill in the air intensified, sending a shiver down her spine.
Wilson’s face stiffened, his bravado barely masking his fear.
His voice quivered ever so slightly.
“Young Master, I’m one of the matriarch’s people!
If you dismiss me, the matriarch-” Before he could finish, Jack lunged forward, his hand gripping Wilson’s neck with a force that brooked no resistance.
Logan’s lips curved upward slightly, the smile as cold as it was sharp.
His tone was casual, yet each word carried an unmistakable weight.
“Butler Wilson, it seems you’ve forgotten who runs this household.
Stirring up trouble with Mrs.
Hayes is one thing, but if there’s a next time, I won’t hesitate to send you into early retirement-permanently.” Wilson’s face drained of color, sheer terror flickering in his eyes.
“I…” Logan’s gaze swept over him, cold and oppressive.
Jack released his grip at the perfect moment, his tone indifferent but laced with menace.
“Butler Wilson, please leave.
Out of respect for your position with the matriarch, our master won’t act against you-for now.
But if you fail to learn your place, I assure you, he won’t hesitate to teach you the meaning of regret.” Wilson clenched his teeth, casting a venomous glare at Selina, but he dared not linger.
Turning abruptly, he stumbled out, his steps so frantic they resembled an escape.
After Wilson left, Jack bowed slightly and retreated from the living room, leaving Selina and Logan alone.
Logan remained where he was, his narrowed eyes gleaming with an inscrutable light.
The faint curve of his lips was both mocking and unreadable.
His voice was low and cool.
“What happened today was an accident, but rest assured, they won’t have another opportunity to step foot in Sapphire Valley Villa.” Selina finally snapped out of her daze, replaying the events in her mind.
The sheer weight of the revelations made her head spin.
It turns out that Logan is unwilling to get married not only because of his own hidden illness, but also because of the oppression from the elders in the family.
Coupled with all these open and secret struggles, it seems that the heir of the Reid Family is not as glorious as she imagined.
Logan’s gaze landed on Selina, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Noticing her pensive expression, he tilted his head, his voice tinged with amusement.
“Miss Clark, Mrs.
Hayes just accused you of being a mistress.
Aren’t you curious why?” Selina stiffened, instinctively shaking her head.
“No, not curious at all!” As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized her response was too quick, almost as if she had something to hide.
Scrambling to cover up her awkwardness, she added hastily, “Of course I’m not curious!
I know Reid Family’s Young Master well enough to know you’d never be a cheating scumbag.
And since you’re not, there’s no way I’d ever be a mistress.
Given that, there’s no need for you to explain.” She feigned nonchalance, but her heart pounded in her chest.
Family feuds in powerful households were dangerous waters; knowing too much could be a death sentence.
Her marriage to Logan was nothing more than a transaction.
She couldn’t afford to meddle in matters beyond her role.
Logan chuckled softly at her response, his gaze carrying a hint of amusement.
“Miss Clark, you didn’t seem so timid when you were hitting people earlier.” Selina’s smile froze for a moment.
First, she’d kicked Ryan; then, she’d slapped Mrs.
Hayes.
Was Logan going to think she had a violent streak?
Taking a deep breath, she quickly adjusted her expression, lowering her head and adopting a contrite demeanor.
Her tone softened.
“Mr.
Reid, I’m actually very timid.
I’d never dare start trouble on my own.” She paused, then added, “It’s just that Mrs.
Hayes went too far.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have acted.
And I only slapped her once.
My hand’s still red-it really hurt.” Logan glanced at her fair palm, a flicker of sly amusement flashing in his eyes.
From the way she had kicked Ryan earlier, it was obvious Selina wasn’t new to physical confrontation.
Her clean, decisive movements suggested training, completely at odds with the timid persona she was trying to project.
This so-called country bumpkin Clark heiress was far more complex than the rumors suggested.
Logan’s gaze unconsciously drifted to her neck, where the broken necklace had once concealed the scar he couldn’t forget.
Her demeanor just now reminded him of someone.
Selina noticed Logan’s gaze and immediately realized her necklace was gone.
She quickly bent down to pick it up, eager to put it back on.
But before she could act, Logan reached out and took it first.
He held the necklace in his palm, inspecting it briefly before speaking in an even tone.
“What happened today was my oversight.
Since the necklace is broken, it’s only right that I replace it.
Coincidentally, I recently acquired a blue diamond necklace with an excellent cut.
I’ll have Jack deliver it to you.” Selina swallowed nervously, shaking her hands frantically.
“That’s not necessary, really.
There’s no need to trouble yourself.” Logan paused for a moment, then replied meaningfully, “Miss Clark, you’re my wife.
Is it so wrong for a husband to gift his wife a necklace?” Selina suddenly realized she’d talked herself into a trap.
She opened her mouth, but no words came out.
She was completely at a loss.
