- Chapter 110 - Chapter 110 The Mystery of His Origins
Chapter 110: The Mystery of His Origins Chapter 110: The Mystery of His Origins A few hours later, Logan carried Selina out of the bathroom, her body limp with exhaustion, teetering on the edge of sleep.
She mumbled softly, “Don’t forget… to settle the score with the Clark Family…” Logan’s lips curled into a faint smile.
Still complaining in her sleep-what a little grudge-holder.
He leaned down and whispered, “Don’t worry, Mrs.
Reid.
Tomorrow, I’ll go with you to the Clark Family.
Let’s make sure James loses sleep over it too.” Only then did Selina settle down, her breathing evening out.
Logan glanced at his phone, tucked her in, and quietly left the room.
Even he had to admit-there was something despicable about what he was doing.
Despising the Carter Family on one hand, yet needing their name to keep her by his side.
But it didn’t matter.
Whether she believed he was the Carter heir, married him for that status, or had some other reason-it didn’t matter.
As long as she stayed.
… Study.
Jack had been waiting for a while, finally speaking up with hesitation.
“Sir, the old master called you several times.” Logan narrowed his eyes, then lazily dialed back.
His voice was icy, detached.
“Grandfather.
What do you need?” It had been a long time since Grandpa Reid had spoken to this grandson.
He immediately put on the airs of a patriarch.
“Calling me back this late?
What were you doing earlier?” Logan replied casually, his tone indifferent.
“It’s the middle of the night, of course I was sleeping.
Are you that bored, Grandpa?” “You-!” The sound of a hand slamming onto a desk echoed through the phone.
Taking a deep breath to suppress his irritation, Grandpa Reid forced his voice to remain steady.
“Logan, I heard Amelia gave you trouble today.
I’ve already reprimanded her.
I also heard there was… a knife involved.
You’re not hurt, are you?” Logan’s smirk turned sharp, his brief good mood evaporating completely.
The Reid Family caring about him?

What a joke.
And sure enough, Grandpa Reid quickly added, “But no matter how dissatisfied you are with Amelia, she’s still your biological mother.
You should show her some respect.” Logan let out a cold, cutting laugh.
“Respect?
Oh, you mean like handing over the South City land to her precious adopted son?” “Let’s not pretend here, Grandpa.
We both know that Amelia’s beloved son is nothing but a useless waste.
How much more of the Reid fortune do you plan to let him squander?” Grandpa Reid choked on his words, his breath hitching.
“Logan, don’t push it too far!
Your Grandma Perry’s birthday is coming up.
All she wants is to see the family getting along.
We’ve already wronged Anna-we can’t disappoint Grandma Perry too!” “As an illegitimate child, you shouldn’t be making waves.
You don’t want to upset the old lady, do you?” Logan twirled a pen between his fingers, his voice dripping with lazy mockery.
“Grandpa, don’t you feel the slightest bit ashamed saying that?
Between an illegitimate child and an adopted son, who’s the real embarrassment to Grandma?
Shouldn’t you be the one who knows that best?” “Logan!” Grandpa Reid’s voice rose, filled with fury and an undercurrent of guilt.
“I’m your grandfather!
Is this how you speak to me?
What kind of manners is this?!” Logan chuckled, tapping the pen against the desk.
“I don’t know.
I carry the blood of the Reid Family-guess I inherited the bad manners from the top down.” Grandpa Reid’s face must’ve turned purple with rage on the other end.
After a tense pause, he tried to reel himself back in.
“Logan, you’re my grandson.
Of course, I care about you more.
But your brother has been part of the Reid Family for years now.
Your parents can’t just abandon him.” “Why are you being so petty?
It’s just a piece of land.
What’s the harm in giving it to him?” “The Perry Family loves that child too.
You know we owe them a debt.
Anna’s death-you, as the illegitimate child, share some of that responsibility.
So even if it’s for the Perry Family, you should learn to be more considerate!” Logan let out a cold, mirthless laugh.
When threats didn’t work, Grandpa Reid resorted to emotional manipulation.
Unfortunately, Logan was born without that particular weakness-especially when it came to the Reid and Perry families.
What did the Perry Family’s affection for that adopted son have to do with him?
And because they wronged Anna, he’s supposed to treat the Perry Family better?
But did the Perry Family ever care about Anna?
They’d been hoping for the real Perry heiress to die early so Amelia-the mistress-could take her place.
Everyone in the Perry Family, except for the old matriarch, had always cared more about Amelia, the adopted daughter.
Now, they were obsessed with Amelia’s adopted son.
Logan’s eyes narrowed.
“Funny, Grandpa.
My life seems to have a lot in common with Anna’s.” -Lost by his family as a child, only to return and find he’d been replaced.
Grandpa Reid’s face tensed, his pupils trembling slightly as he struggled to mask the guilt creeping up his spine.
“Logan, losing you when you were young was… unavoidable.
After all, you’re an illegitimate child-your very existence was a disgrace!” Then, as if suddenly remembering something, Grandpa Reid’s voice turned pointed.
“It was an accident.
Haven’t you already investigated it thoroughly?” Logan’s gaze darkened.
That’s exactly what bothered him.
He had investigated-and according to the evidence, it really did seem like an accident.
But how could his experiences be so eerily similar to Anna’s, yet the conclusion was so neat and tidy?
Clearly, asking Grandpa Reid would get him nowhere.
Logan’s voice grew cold, his words a sharp warning: “If that useless adopted brother of mine wants the South City land, tell him to come and take it.
But if he’s not capable, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Grandpa Reid flinched, as if struck.
He opened his mouth to argue, but Logan hung up without waiting for a response.
Jack entered the study cautiously.
“Sir, the news about you being determined to acquire the South City land has been leaked.
There’s already movement from Mrs.
Perry’s side.” Logan’s lips curled into a faint, disdainful smile.
“Idiots.” Jack couldn’t help but agree-wasn’t that the truth?
Logan had dug a trap, and Amelia had jumped right in without hesitation.
… Meanwhile, at the Reid Family estate.
Grandpa Reid set his phone down, his face a mixture of fury and unease.
Logan was becoming harder and harder to control.
He must never find out the truth from back then.
Otherwise, the entire Reid Family might not survive the fallout.
“Butler Lewis.” The old butler stepped forward promptly.
“Yes, sir?” “Tell Amelia to stop playing games and keep her mouth shut.
No slip-ups-whether it’s about her past with Anna or Logan’s background.
Not a single word can get out.” “Especially with Grandma Perry’s 70th birthday coming up.
Amelia needs to behave herself.
If Logan uncovers anything from her, tell her she’s out of the Reid Family for good.” Butler Lewis bowed slightly.
“Understood, sir.” … The next morning.
Selina woke up with her whole body aching.
As flashes of the previous night flooded back, her face froze.
“…” She’d been drunk.
She’d clung to Logan, asking all sorts of questions about the Carter Family-and then she’d… “thrown herself at him.” But what happened after that?
Why couldn’t she remember?
Did she and Logan… do that?
“Mrs.
Reid, awake?” Logan’s voice came lazily from beside her.
She had no idea how long he’d been standing there.
Selina’s neck stiffened as she slowly turned her head.
Logan raised an eyebrow, amused by the shifting expressions on her face.
“Thinking about something… inappropriate?” Selina’s face turned bright red.
“W-Who’s thinking inappropriate things?!
You-you-I…” Logan’s dark gaze drifted to the faint red marks along her neck, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Relax.
I’m not so desperate that I’d take advantage of a drunk woman.” Selina finally exhaled in relief- Until he added casually, “But…” But?
Logan dipped his finger into a bit of ointment and gently dabbed it along her collarbone.
“But since the drunk one was the first to throw herself at me, I didn’t exactly say no.”
