- Chapter 145 - Chapter 145 Rejecting Her Apology Gift
Chapter 145: Rejecting Her Apology Gift Chapter 145: Rejecting Her Apology Gift “Sir, Miss Bella just called.
She has two tickets to the Gordon art exhibition and wants to offer them to you and Madam as an apology.” Jack wasn’t sure how the Hayes Family had the audacity to call after everything that had happened.
But as an assistant, it wasn’t his place to question orders-only to relay them.
Logan’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“Bella?” Since his grandmother’s birthday banquet, he hadn’t heard that name.
The Gordon art exhibition… A scoff left Logan’s lips.
“Reject it.” Jack had already expected this response.
After all, most people didn’t know, but he did-Gordon and Mr.
Reid had a personal connection.
If Logan wanted to attend, he certainly didn’t need Bella’s tickets.
…
When Bella received the rejection, her smile stiffened slightly.
“…I see.
Understood.” She hung up and sighed helplessly.
Sitting across from her in a high-end shopping mall café, Rose Hayes curiously leaned in.
“What’s wrong, Bella?
Selina didn’t want the tickets?” Bella had been in a sour mood all afternoon.
After some prying, Rose had found out that she had offended Selina and was trying to find a way to make amends.
When Bella mentioned owning two Gordon exhibition tickets, Rose had suggested using them as a peace offering.
But judging by Bella’s expression, it was obvious the plan had failed.
“What?
You’re kidding.” Rose looked utterly disdainful.
“Selina has no taste whatsoever?
Does she even know who Gordon is?” Gordon.
A living legend in the art world.
He had won countless international awards since childhood and mastered every artistic style.
His exhibitions were rare, and every attendee was either rich or powerful-even the President had personally attended several times.
Even a prestigious family like the Hayes had only managed to secure two tickets.
And yet Selina turned them down?!
Unless… she had no idea who Gordon was.

Rose sneered.
“Bella, she’s just a clueless country bumpkin.
It’s wasted on her.” Bella bit her lip.
But deep down, a sense of superiority bloomed within her.
She was right… Selina had grown up in the countryside.
Forget Gordon’s paintings-she probably didn’t even know his name.
That’s why Logan had rejected the offer so quickly.
He must’ve been embarrassed that Selina wouldn’t even understand the art.
But Bella was different.
She had been immersed in high-society culture from birth-what could Selina possibly compare to?
Bella sighed with feigned pity.
“You’re right.
Not everyone can appreciate art.
It’s not her fault-she was raised in the countryside.
It’s only natural she wouldn’t understand Gordon’s work.” …
Sapphire Valley Villa.
Jack had just hung up when he noticed Selina rushing downstairs, not even bothering to change.
Logan paused, fingers still idly twirling a pen.
“Mrs.
Reid, going out?” Selina grabbed her bag in a hurry.
“I won’t be home for dinner.” Logan’s expression darkened slightly.
But when he spoke, his tone remained gentle.
“Alright.
Be careful.” Selina’s heart warmed.
Logan was so good to her.
What had she done to deserve such a great husband?
Jack could sense Logan’s mood shift and hesitated before asking quietly, “Shall I have someone follow Madam?” Logan’s gaze lingered on Selina’s disappearing figure.
For a moment, the possessive urge in his chest burned fiercely.
But he took a breath-forcing it down.
“…She doesn’t like being followed.” If he liked her, if he wanted to protect her, he had to give her space.
Logan closed his eyes briefly, restraining the violent possessiveness clawing at his chest.
No rush.
He had time.
…
Selina had just taken a call from Justin upstairs.
Gordon was in City A and wanted to meet for dinner.
Naturally, she was thrilled and rushed out immediately.
She stood outside the shopping district, eagerly waiting.
Before long, a tall, ethereal figure entered her sight, walking alongside Justin.
Selina’s eyes lit up.
She ran over excitedly.
“Uncle Gordon!” Gordon, a man in his early forties, carried an undeniable air of elegance and artistic arrogance.
His features were marked by time, but his presence was calm, refined-almost otherworldly.
Seeing Selina approach, he merely gave a small nod.
“Still so naughty” Selina was still buzzing with excitement.
“Uncle Gordon, what brings you to City A in person?” A subtle flicker of emotion passed through Justin’s gaze, but he said nothing.
Gordon glanced over Selina’s shoulder before smiling lightly.
“I heard you got married.
Where’s your husband?
Why isn’t he here?” Selina froze for a moment.
Uncle Gordon and she hadn’t seen each other in ages, and yet the first thing he asked wasn’t whether she was doing well- He asked about Logan?
Scratching the back of her head, she replied, “He’s at home.
I… never told him about you.” Gordon frowned slightly.
“Selina, you’re married now.
Why are you still acting like a child?
There shouldn’t be secrets between husband and wife.” Selina huffed.
Oh, so now keeping secrets is a problem?
Logan was clearly hiding his connection to the Carter Family from her- Why was she the only one who wasn’t allowed her own little secrets?
But Gordon quickly moved on from the topic.
“So, how did you and this Mr.
Reid meet?” Selina blinked.
“Why are you so interested in him?” Gordon’s throat tightened.
Of course, he was interested-because Gavin told him that Logan looked almost identical to that man from four years ago.
The moment Gordon heard that, he had booked the earliest flight to City A.
But he couldn’t tell Selina that.
Instead, he smiled gently.
“Because he’s you husband.
Naturally, I should know more about him.” Selina shrugged.
“Oh… we met at the Marriage Bureau entrance.
Nothing as romantic as you’re imagining.” Marriage Bureau entrance?
Gordon and Justin exchanged glances before subtly shaking their heads.
It seemed Selina hadn’t remembered anything.
Was that a good thing… or a bad thing?
Perhaps it was for the best.
That man had clearly hurt her deeply.
If Logan wasn’t that man, then there was nothing to worry about.
But if he was… Gordon wasn’t sure what would happen once Selina’s memories returned.
His chest tightened with a wave of concern.
“Come on, let Uncle Gordon buy you some clothes.” …
The three of them arrived at a luxury shopping mall.
Justin ran into a business associate and stepped away for a brief chat, leaving Gordon to drag Selina into a boutique.
He had barely begun to ask how she had been living in City A these past two years when a familiar female voice reached their ears.
“Cousin, who are you giving the Gordon exhibition tickets to?
His art shows are impossible to get into-you can’t waste them.” Selina blinked.
Wow.
Uncle Gordon really was famous.
Even shopping, she could hear people gushing over him.
Another woman sighed in exasperation.
“I guess I’ll just go alone.
As for the other ticket, I haven’t decided yet.
I originally bought them as an apology gift, but… sigh.” Selina paused mid-step.
That voice… why did it sound so familiar?
It sounded a lot like Bella… Then, a sharp, condescending voice followed.
“Cousin, why are you still thinking about Selina?!
Giving her the ticket is a waste.
She’s just some country bumpkin-what does she know about art?” Gordon, who had been casually flipping through clothing racks, suddenly furrowed his brows.
“?” Were these two… insulting his Selina?
Saying she didn’t understand art?
Saying she didn’t deserve to attend his exhibition?
How ironic.
Because Selina… was one of the exhibition’s organizers.
