Chapter 187: Settling the Accounts
Wait a minute—Selina is the owner of AS Grand Hotel, so what does that make Angelica?!
Angelica’s throat tightened, a flicker of shock and frustration flashing across her face.
Zara was in complete disbelief. “Vice President, what did you just say? What’s Selina’s relation to AS Grand Hotel? Boss?!”
Vice President Wilson looked confused. “What’s the matter? Do you all know our Boss?”
Selina let out a soft chuckle. “Mmm, not only do they know me, but Angelica was kind enough to treat me to a 1.2 million meal just now~”
Angelica’s breath nearly stopped, her face turning pale with fury.
Selina is the owner of AS Grand Hotel?! She had been eating in her own restaurant this whole time and didn’t need to pay a dime—yet she let Angelica foot the bill without revealing her identity!
Gavin was growing impatient. “Vice President Wilson, I recall that AS Grand Hotel doesn’t allow full buyouts. So how did Angelica manage to ‘book the entire venue’?”
Vice President Wilson quickly clarified, “Young Master Hill, there was no full buyout at all. Mr. Reid only made a reservation for two seats. These two ladies were the ones claiming it was a private booking.”
Shh—
The surrounding guests immediately cast Angelica disdainful glances.
So it wasn’t a private booking? Logan had only reserved two seats? This was beyond embarrassing—it was a complete act of self-importance!
Selina blinked innocently. “Oh my, what’s going on here? I thought Mr. Reid cared about you so much. Turns out it wasn’t even a private booking?”
Angelica’s expression darkened as humiliation surged through her.
First, she found out Selina owned AS Grand Hotel, dealing her a heavy blow.

Then, it was revealed that Logan hadn’t even fully booked the place for her.
Her entire act was completely exposed!
Selina leaned in slightly, lowering her voice so only Angelica could hear. “Angelica, showing off means nothing. As long as I haven’t divorced, you’ll always be the homewrecker trying to climb the ranks. Got the guts to make it official?”
That one word—”official”—stabbed right into Angelica’s heart like a dagger.
“Selina, I’d advise you not to go too far. I don’t think you’d really want to know the extent of my past with Logan.”
Selina remained indifferent. “If Logan truly had something going on with you, I’d just divorce him. Did you think I was the type to cling to a man?”
She smirked. “Oh, and Angelica, I should thank you for contributing 1.2 million grand in revenue to AS Grand Hotel.”
Angelica was so furious that her chest tightened. Just as she was about to retort, her expression suddenly shifted. She quickly forced a soft, pitiful look.
“Selina, I was happy to treat you. Even if you tricked me into spending all that money, I won’t hold it against you.”
Selina raised an eyebrow, wondering why Angelica was suddenly putting on an act.
Then she heard Zara exclaim loudly, “Mr. Reid? Angelica, it’s Mr. Reid!”
Selina’s back stiffened, and she turned her head—meeting Logan’s gaze in an instant.
Gavin’s heart sank.
Why did Logan have to show up now?
Angelica was an expert at playing the victim—just when Selina and Logan were in a rough spot, this was the worst possible timing.
He was about to say something when Logan had already stepped forward.
Zara, now emboldened, pouted indignantly. “Mr. Reid, thank goodness you’re here! If you were any later, Angelica would’ve been bullied to death!”
Angelica elegantly shook her head. “Zara, I already told you, I did it willingly.”
“But Angelica, you’re too kind! I can’t just let this go!” Zara fumed, then turned to Logan to complain. “Mr. Reid, Selina is actually the owner of AS Grand Hotel! But she pretended to be clueless, tricked Angelica into treating her, and ordered the most expensive dishes to rip her off! She took full advantage of Angelica’s kindness!”
Logan’s gaze landed on Selina.
He hadn’t seen her all night—he had been thinking about her ever since she left.
Now, finally seeing her again, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of helplessness at her completely unfazed expression.
“How much did Angelica spend?”
Zara, thinking Logan was about to stand up for Angelica, eagerly replied, “A full 1.2 million! Mr. Reid, don’t you think that’s outrageous?!”
Selina clicked her tongue internally. Why was Logan asking that? Was he actually planning to reimburse Angelica for 1.2 million grand?
To her surprise, Logan let out a light chuckle.
“Miss Angelica, I’m curious—how exactly did Selina pretend to be pitiful and trick you into paying for her meal?”
The crowd froze, and an eerie silence filled the room.
Angelica felt an ominous sense of foreboding creeping up her spine.
“Mr. Reid, Selina manipulated Angelica!” Zara shrieked.
Logan completely ignored Zara and turned his gaze toward Angelica. “You invited her, didn’t you?”
Angelica gritted her teeth. “I… did.”
Logan nodded, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. “Then that means Miss Angelica had already prepared herself to cover the bill, doesn’t it?”
Gavin immediately understood. Seems like Logan wasn’t as unreliable as he had thought.
“Mr. Reid is absolutely right,” Gavin said with a smirk. “Angelica, you tried to use Selina to build up an image of being generous, but then turned around and got upset about spending money. So, no matter what Selina does, she’s in the wrong?”
The surrounding guests murmured in agreement.
Yeah, if you invite someone to eat, isn’t it expected that you’ll pay? How does it make sense to complain after the fact about how much they ate?
Sure, Selina was the owner of AS Grand Hotel, but if Angelica hadn’t tried to show off by offering to pay, how could Selina have possibly “tricked” her out of her money?
Angelica was so enraged she nearly spat blood. “That’s not what I meant… I was happy to treat Selina, no matter how much it cost. Zara simply misunderstood.”
Logan gave a noncommittal hum before shifting his gaze to Selina.
The cold indifference in his voice softened into something far gentler.
“I haven’t had lunch yet, sweetheart. Care to join me?”
The single word—sweetheart—sent an electric shiver down Selina’s spine.
Logan’s voice was husky and low, carrying the intimate warmth of a lover’s whisper.
Selina glanced at Angelica’s now unsightly expression and raised an eyebrow. In a particularly good mood, she hummed lightly.
“Sure, if Mr. Reid is treating.”
Logan, ever the gentleman, gestured with a slight bow.
Watching the two of them walk away, Zara swallowed nervously.
“Angelica… Mr. Reid knows Selina? The way they act—it’s almost like…”
Something about their atmosphere felt off—they didn’t seem like mere acquaintances. There was something intensely familiar, even intimate, between them.
Angelica’s fists clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms. She nearly cracked a tooth before she forced a smile.
“Of course they don’t know each other…” she said through gritted teeth. “Mr. Reid is probably just being polite to Selina for my sake. After all, he sees the entire Clark Family as his benefactors.”
Zara, ever gullible, bought it immediately.
“Angelica, you’re amazing! You’re lifting the whole Clark Family up! Selina should be thanking you!”
Angelica’s vision darkened with rage.
She had to remind herself—no matter how arrogant Selina acted, it wouldn’t matter.
Logan’s savior could only be her.
As long as she had this life-saving debt hanging over his head, anything she wanted was within reach—including the position of Mrs. Reid!
Angelica pulled out her phone. “Mom, get the design drafts ready. I’m going to collaborate with Reid Group… Don’t worry, I’m Mr. Reid’s savior—he wouldn’t dare refuse me over something this small.”
…
Inside the private dining room.
Selina rested her chin on her hand.
“Mr. Reid, before we eat, let’s settle a little debt first.”
Logan’s lips curled into a faint smile. “What kind of debt does Mrs. Reid want to settle?”
Selina pulled out her phone and opened the calculator app.
“I want to calculate AS Grand Hotel’s daily revenue and figure out how much money I lost today because your savior falsely claimed a full buyout of the restaurant.”
She tapped in a number and slid the phone toward him.
“All of this, Mr. Reid, you need to compensate me for. I just wonder… are you willing to pay so much for your so-called benefactor?”
Logan glanced at the number—then, without hesitation, pressed a contact on his phone.
A call began to ring.
