Chapter 190: Selina Turns the Tables
As soon as Selina finished speaking, the entire private room fell into dead silence. Everyone exchanged glances, too stunned to say a word.
On one side was Angelica—the woman who had saved Logan’s life, the “white moonlight” he had searched for over the past four years. On the other was Selina—his newlywed wife, seemingly unloved, yet holding the rightful title of Mrs. Reid.
Two women, standing off against each other. Who would come out on top?
Angelica maintained her gentle smile. “Selina, dear sister, what are you talking about?”
Selina remained calm. “I think you know exactly what I’m talking about. Everyone here knows what’s on your mind—there’s no need to play dumb.”
The crowd nodded in agreement. Angelica’s admiration for Logan was evident to all.
Angelica sighed dramatically. “Selina, do you really want me to be honest? I held back because I didn’t want to make things too harsh for you as my sister.”
“You and Logan getting married was an accident. I’m not saying you’re not a good match, but I am his savior. If he had met me first, tell me, would he have married you, or would he have married me?”
Selina let out a cold laugh.
Angelica’s words seemed reasonable on the surface, but in reality, they were meaningless.
Who said a man must marry the person who saved him? Who said meeting someone first automatically made them Mrs. Reid?
Selina casually tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Hmm, makes sense. But the fact remains—you were late. That just means you and Logan weren’t meant to be.”
That single phrase—”weren’t meant to be”—made Angelica’s face twist with embarrassment.
Taylor, unwilling to see his goddess lose face, snapped in frustration. “What are you so smug about? Even if you’re Mrs. Reid, Logan doesn’t care about you! Angelica is at least his savior—Logan will protect her for the rest of his life!”
Several women in the room couldn’t hold back their disdain either.

Logan was the ultimate dream man for many of them. If he had married a woman recognized as the city’s top socialite, they might have accepted it. But the fact that Selina had taken the position of Mrs. Reid? That was infuriating!
“Yeah, we’ve never even heard about Mrs. Reid before! Logan clearly doesn’t care about you. If he did, why has he never brought you to any of his gatherings?”
“Miss Clark, a person should know their place—”
“Are you lecturing my wife?”
A cold, emotionless voice interrupted the jeering.
Everyone’s expressions froze as they instinctively turned toward the doorway.
Logan stood there, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room. His presence alone sent a chill through the air.
But when his eyes landed on Selina, warmth flickered within them. “What are you doing here?”
Selina clenched her jaw. He actually dares to ask why I’m here?
Logan is out drinking with Angelica, but I’M the unreasonable one for showing up?!
But the moment she caught sight of Angelica’s expression, a thought sparked in her mind.
She suddenly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Logan’s, her voice soft and aggrieved.
“Logan, of course, I came to take you home. But the moment I walked in, I heard your friends talking about me…” She cast an innocent glance around the room. “It seems like they have quite a few opinions about me.”
Logan’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. He knew she was acting, but he still found himself coaxing her. “Ignore them.”
Angelica watched the two whispering to each other, an uncontrollable bitterness surging within her. She discreetly shot Taylor a look.
Taylor immediately smirked. “Logan, we don’t have anything against Mrs. Reid. It’s just that you’ve been hiding her too well. You got married and never even introduced her to us—we thought your marriage was just for show.”
Selina narrowed her eyes.
Angelica’s green tea tactics weren’t stopping, huh?
She tightened her grip around Logan’s arm and spoke before he could.
“That’s not Logan’s fault. It’s not that he’s hiding me on purpose—” She sighed dramatically, then smiled sweetly. “He just loves me too much. He treasures me so much that he wants to keep me all to himself. That’s all.”
The room fell dead silent.
Taylor and Angelica’s faces turned green.
That’s not what we meant at all!
Selina let out an exaggerated sigh. “Actually, I don’t want it to be like this. I’d love to meet Logan’s friends too, but he’s always so afraid someone will try to steal me away…”
Logan: “…”
Selina continued, her voice light and teasing. “I didn’t expect to run into all of you at the bar. Perfect timing! Now we can all get acquainted, so the rumors don’t spiral out of control—things like ‘repaying a life-saving debt with marriage’ and whatnot. That would be terrible for my relationship with Logan, don’t you think?”
She turned her head and flashed Logan a sweet smile. “Logan, don’t you agree?”
A faint chuckle flickered in Logan’s eyes. “Mm.”
Selina sighed as if just realizing something. “Oh dear, I’ve said so much all at once. My apologies! I was just too excited to share our love. I hope no one minds?”
Everyone: “…”
She’s already flaunted her relationship—what’s the point of asking now?
Selina scanned their expressions, clearly satisfied. She then turned to Logan with a radiant smile. “Logan, let’s go home.”
Logan’s gaze softened slightly. It seemed Mrs. Reid had finally cooled off.
As the two of them turned to leave, Angelica’s face grew darker and darker. Her fists clenched tightly at her sides as she raised her voice unwillingly. “Logan!”
Selina halted mid-step, arching a brow. “Angelica, do you still need something from Logan?”
Angelica took a deep breath, suppressing her irritation. “Logan, we share such a deep bond. It was just a casual night out for drinks, yet Selina treated it like a battlefield, making everyone uncomfortable. Don’t you think she’s being unreasonable?”
The room fell into a stunned silence.
Did Angelica just say Mrs. Reid was being unreasonable?
Not just anyone would have the audacity to say such a thing to Mr. Reid’s face…
But Angelica was different—she was his savior, after all.
Selina tilted her head slightly, her gaze drifting toward Logan.
The man’s expression remained calm, his eyes unreadable. At Angelica’s words, he finally lifted his gaze, his voice indifferent. “Is that so?”
Angelica bit her lip. “We’re just friends. Even if there were something more between us, that still wouldn’t—”
“I don’t think Selina did anything wrong,” Logan interrupted, his tone as steady as ever. He paused briefly before his gaze swept coldly across the room, sharp as a blade.
“If Selina felt she had to be on guard… perhaps it’s time you all reflect on what exactly you did to make her feel that way.”
Angelica’s face turned deathly pale in an instant.
Her entire body trembled—she hadn’t expected Logan to dismiss her so outright, to not even spare her the slightest dignity.
The rest of the group subtly shrank back, their stomachs twisting with unease.
What had they done?
They had openly cheered for Angelica to kiss Logan…
If Mr. Reid knew about that, wouldn’t they be doomed?
Everyone had assumed that Angelica was truly special to Logan—that she was someone he cherished. That’s why they had spoken so freely, trying to curry favor with him.
But now… it was painfully clear.
Logan didn’t care about Angelica at all.
Without sparing another glance at the room, Logan shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over Selina’s shoulders. “Let’s go.”
Angelica watched them walk away, her fists clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms. Her teeth gnashed together in pure hatred.
Selina!
She couldn’t wait any longer. She had to ruin Selina—right now.
Outside the bar, Logan led Selina to the car, opened the door, and eased her into the backseat before sliding into the driver’s seat himself.
Selina propped her chin on her hand, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “Logan, you drank at the bar, yet you’re still driving? That’s not very responsible of you.”
Hearing the way she sweetly called him “Logan,” the man’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. “I didn’t drink.”
Selina blinked in exaggerated surprise. “Really? Your life-saving angel invited you out for drinks, and you didn’t even have a sip? How rude of you.”
