Chapter 205: To Him, She Was Just Adorable
Owen’s face turned beet red. “Why wouldn’t I dare? I just thought…”
Before he could finish, the kitchen doors swung open—
Selina’s expression darkened immediately. She had expected Ambrosia’s management to be a mess, but she hadn’t imagined it would be this bad.
The kitchen was in complete chaos—dirty, disorganized, with food ingredients scattered on the floor. The scene was filthy.
Everyone’s expression changed.
“Mr. Logan asked to inspect the kitchen, and I didn’t believe Ambrosia would be so shameless. But I didn’t expect the Reed family to be so shameless!”
“With food this unsanitary, no wonder we got sick! They better pay for this!”
“And the Reid Family still has the nerve to call themselves elite in City A? Owen cutting corners like this just to make a quick buck—he’s ruining the hotel’s reputation!”
Logan’s eyes narrowed slightly. He was more than satisfied with this unexpected bonus.
No one knew Ambrosia better than he did. With the rot starting at the top, it was only a matter of time before Owen’s cost-cutting and shortcuts were exposed.
Still, he hadn’t expected Mrs. Reid to be the one to blow the lid off.
Selina feigned ignorance, covering her mouth in mock shock. “No wonder Owen. didn’t want us to come back here. After seeing this, how will Ambrosia keep doing business?”
The two police officers reported the situation. “Ambrosia must shut down for a period of inspection and rectification.”
Owen trembled with panic. “It’s a misunderstanding! These ingredients were meant to be thrown out! Not for the customers! I swear!”
Selina’s tone was ice-cold. “You sure know how to talk, Owen. Everything’s always a misunderstanding, huh? So accusing Logan of poisoning you earlier… that was a misunderstanding too?”

With that, the surrounding guests began murmuring again, their stares filled with disgust:
“The evidence is right here, and they’re still saying it’s a misunderstanding? What, does he think everyone’s his parents—gonna believe anything he says?”
“Seriously, does Mr. Reid and Mrs. Reid have a screw loose? Instead of appreciating such an outstanding eldest son, they pamper a foster kid and hand him a business their real son built from the ground up?”
“If Ambrosia were still in Mr. Logan’s hands, it’d be one of the top-tier establishments in City A by now—what a shame.”
“And this poisoning accusation? Please. They treated Mr. Logan like trash for years, and now that they’re scared he’ll retaliate, they get a stomachache and try to blame him? Shameless.”
Daniel and Amelia’s faces turned red, then pale. They hadn’t expected things to spiral like this.
Owen was nearly fainting from rage and humiliation. Ambrosia’s closure was now official, and he had become the punchline of every cruel joke.
Everyone was saying he, the adopted son, couldn’t hold a candle to Logan…
It couldn’t be. There was no way. How could he possibly be inferior to that nobody who crawled out of the gutters?
As the crowd dispersed and Selina’s goal was achieved, she lost interest in the scene.
She strolled up to Owen and spoke slowly: “Well, now everyone knows you’re useless. If you’d just kept a lower profile, maybe you wouldn’t have embarrassed yourself so badly…”
Selina’s voice was deliberately cruel. “Maybe this is just fate, don’t you think?”
Owen couldn’t take it anymore. With a loud ugh, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“This is just fate”—those were the words he’d most often used to mock Logan.
Logan being abandoned? Fate. Owen being adopted? Fate. Logan being unloved? Fate. Owen being the family’s pride and joy? Also fate.
But now, Selina had thrown those exact words back in his face.
“Owen! Owen!” Amelia rushed to him in a panic, face full of concern.
Daniel, having just been publicly humiliated by Owen, now acted like the perfect doting father, shouting for a doctor as if nothing had happened.
They never once cared about Logan.
Selina scoffed. “So fake.”
She turned and said casually, “Well, that was fun. Let’s go.”
Jack swallowed hard as he watched her walk away. The image of Selina making Owen spit blood from pure rage still fresh in his mind, he murmured with a trace of fear, “Sir… don’t you think Madam is a little… fierce?”
Logan gave him a lazy sideways glance—one filled with enough menace to make it clear that if he said another word, he might not live to see tomorrow.
“Fierce?” he said slowly. “She’s adorable.”
Jack: “…”
Was the difference in aesthetic preferences between people really this huge?
Once they were back in the car, it came as no surprise when Logan received a call from Grandpa Reid.
Logan’s tone was flat. “Poisoning? Grandpa, you must be joking. Why don’t you ask the Reid Family’s doctor yourself?”
Selina blinked. So, Grandpa Reid was coming to lecture them?
Logan suddenly let out a laugh, as if he’d just heard the most ridiculous joke. “You’re right. I suppose caring for the family failure is everyone’s responsibility.”
Grandpa Reid roared on the other end—his voice loud enough for Selina to hear clearly. “Fine! Logan, you better hope I never find proof you were behind this!”
Logan’s lips curved into a calm smile. “Be my guest.”
Then, without hesitation, he hung up the call and turned to Selina with a half-smile. “Mrs. Reid, if they do find out I poisoned them, what do you think will happen?”
Selina swallowed nervously. “Mr. Reid, a clear conscience fears no accusation. Even if they investigate, it won’t come back to you.”
“Oh?” Logan’s eyes glinted with amusement as he pulled a small device from his pocket—a tiny camera. He toyed with it between his fingers. “But, Mrs. Reid, your every move at the dinner table was caught on tape.”
The camera’s playback showed her clearly—sprinkling a white powder into the fish soup with practiced ease.
Selina’s eyes flew wide open. “…”
Wait a second—where the hell did that camera come from?!
She was sure she’d checked all the surveillance positions when they arrived!
Her face flushed bright red, and realizing there was no escape, she decided to go full throttle. She squared her shoulders and declared boldly, “Mr. Reid, I did it to help you! We’re on the same team now, so you better keep my secret!”
Logan’s pale gray eyes lifted slightly. “Then maybe Mrs. Reid can explain how the poison you used somehow escaped every medical test?”
“Oh, that…”
Selina’s eyes sparkled mischievously, clearly not planning to spill the secret.
“Just a little trick. Which is why you should never cross me, Mr. Reid. Otherwise, I could poison you and you’d never even know.”
Jack, sitting in the front seat, shuddered. Was the boss sure he found this woman “adorable”? She was terrifying!
Logan withdrew his gaze, still utterly unbothered.
Mrs. Reid guarding her secrets was like a little squirrel defending her nest. Dangerous, but somehow… endearing.
Beep beep beep. Suddenly, Jack’s phone buzzed.
His expression turned serious at once, as though the phone had become a ticking time bomb. “Sir…”
Selina leaned over curiously. The caller ID flashed on the screen—and her brows arched in surprise.
If she wasn’t mistaken… that number belonged to Angelica.
The ringtone kept blaring.
Selina blinked. “Not answering?”
Logan’s eyes remained calm. He turned slightly. “Do you want to answer it?”
