Chapter 210: Logan Broke His Promise
The next morning, just as Selina woke up, she received a message from Luke saying that Logan was already at the base of the mountain and would be arriving shortly.

She quickly got up to wash and dress, stealing a glance at the see-through bathroom and swallowing hard.

No, she had to stop overthinking this!

Downstairs, Luke was already grinning and waggling his eyebrows at her from afar.

“Well? How was the room? Satisfied?”

Selina coughed twice. “…”

Luke’s smirk deepened. “It’s super private, no one will disturb you. Even the courtyard is perfect for some… quality time—”

“Wow, is that Mr. Reid’s car?” someone suddenly shouted, cutting Luke off.

Luke turned excitedly. “That’s Logan’s car! Selina, come on, let’s—”

Before he could finish, a female voice shrieked from the crowd, “Look! There’s a woman in Mr. Reid’s car!”

“What? Let me see—wait, isn’t that Angelica?!”

Selina’s head snapped around. Angelica?!

“Oh my god, Mr. Reid and Clark Miss look so perfect together. Isn’t it obvious they’re meant to be?”

“They are! A lifesaver and the grateful protector—it’s the perfect ship!”

Luke’s brows furrowed. What the hell? Selina was standing right there, and these people had the nerve to talk about Logan and another woman like that?

Before he could say anything, someone murmured, “Uh… White Miss, Mr. Reid is married.”

But Miss White clearly didn’t care. She scoffed and said boldly:

“So what? I heard it was Grandma Perry who pressured him into that marriage. Mr. Reid probably just picked some random woman—there’s no way he actually likes that Mrs. Reid.”

“But Clark Miss is different. I heard that four years ago, when Angelica went abroad, it was Mr. Reid who quietly supported her. You think she could’ve made it this far in the entertainment industry without someone powerful backing her?”

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

“Wait, you think Mr. Reid is her backstage support?”

Miss White nodded smugly. “Of course. Everyone in the industry knows Clark Miss is the real future Mrs. Reid. No one dares cross her. Look, Luke invited a few friends to celebrate his ski resort opening, and they brought family—but Mr. Reid brought Clark Miss instead of his wife. What does that tell you?”

Luke clenched his fists. What the hell was Logan thinking bringing Angelica?!

Miss White kept on rambling. “If you ask me, Clark Miss is the one Mr. Reid truly wants. As for that wife back home—divorce is just a matter of time—ah!”

A splash of water hit Miss White square in the face.

She screamed in outrage. “Are you insane?! What the hell is your problem?!”

Selina calmly lowered her hand. “Cursing me to get divorced—would you say that might be a problem?”

Miss White snapped, “I wasn’t cursing you, I was talking about that useless Mrs. Reid—some cheap little—”

“Oh? Is this the kind of upbringing the White Family teaches?”

A smooth, elegant voice cut through from not far off.

Jacob strolled over in a light windbreaker, smiling gently. “Miss Clark, we meet again.”

Selina pressed her lips together. Why was Jacob here too?

Miss White stiffened, still looking defiant, but her friend urgently pulled her arm.

“Stop! Luke and Carter Young Master are here—and I think this lady is the actual Mrs. Reid.”

Miss White’s face twisted, and after a pause, she sneered, “Ugh, so what if she’s Mrs. Reid? Let’s go.”

Luke was fuming. “What the hell is wrong with these people? Gossiping behind someone’s back like it’s a sport. White Family, huh? I’m kicking every last one of them out!”

Jacob, however, remained composed, his smile mild.

“If you drive them out, it’ll only leave more to gossip about. Why not just give Mr. White a gentle warning and remind him to keep his daughter in check?”

He turned to Selina with a polite smile. “What do you think, Miss Clark?”

Because of Logan, Selina couldn’t say she liked or disliked Jacob. She simply didn’t care much for him and turned to leave without a word.

But as soon as she turned around, she came face to face with Logan and Angelica walking side by side—and froze on the spot.

Angelica was standing very close to Logan, so close it almost looked like she was leaning on his shoulder from afar.

“Thank you, Mr. Reid. My luggage was a bit heavy… Could you give me a hand?”

Logan took the bag without a word.

Selina saw the whole scene—and felt a wave of dizziness hit her temples.

Angelica offered a soft, apologetic voice.

“Mr. Reid, Selina has never liked me very much. If she sees us arriving together, she might misunderstand. You should go talk to her—I’ll head upstairs on my own.”

Then, with a sigh of faux helplessness: “Selina, I didn’t expect to run into you here. I insisted on coming with Mr. Reid. Please don’t be mad at him.”

It felt like something had lodged in Selina’s chest—tight and painful.

Luke had clearly said everyone could bring their spouses or family.

Everyone brought a partner or a child.

But Logan… brought Angelica?

That was one thing—but they also arrived together in the same car, and now he was carrying her luggage?

No wonder people misunderstood.

And Angelica’s little “apologies” were nothing but veiled boasts, dripping with smugness.

Selina suddenly stopped in her tracks. Before Logan could even speak, she turned on her heel—and walked straight over to Jacob.

Jacob cast Logan a glance full of subtle amusement. “Miss Clark, care to join me for breakfast?”

Logan’s brow twitched. That scene rubbed him the wrong way.

Selina smiled sweetly. “Sure.”

So Logan could cozy up to Angelica, but she couldn’t have breakfast with Jacob?

She walked toward the dining area without a second thought. Logan made to follow, but just then, his phone rang. With a slight frown, he answered.

By the time the call ended, Selina was nowhere to be seen.

…

Thirty minutes later.

Jacob’s smile was warm and impeccably polite. “Miss Clark, would you like to go skiing together?”

Selina had only agreed to breakfast with him out of spite. Now that Logan was gone, she just felt exhausted and had zero interest.

“I think I’ll pass.”

Jacob narrowed his eyes slightly, the smile not quite reaching them. “Alright, if you insist.”

She turned to head back to her room—but just then, Logan appeared, holding two sets of ski gear.

Tall, sharp, and composed, Logan looked even more striking in his windbreaker.

He came to a stop, the center of attention, and his gaze landed directly on Selina.

Selina quickly looked away, pretending not to see him.

Jacob chuckled knowingly. “Looks like Miss Clark is going skiing with Logan after all. I won’t interrupt.”

Selina tilted her head slightly. Logan came… to ski with her?

That’s right—before the trip, he promised to teach her how to ski.

She was still mad, but also didn’t want to miss the chance. She hesitated for a second.

“Logan!” A bright female voice interrupted.

Selina turned—Angelica was beaming, rushing over to Logan.

Before anyone could react, she snatched one of the ski suits from his hand and smiled sweetly.

“Logan, thank you! I didn’t expect you to even prepare ski clothes for me!”
