Chapter 220: An Unbreakable Bond
Logan’s gaze was calm and unreadable. “Or do you think I’m incapable of handling something this minor?”
Amanda’s expression froze instantly.
Angelica also understood what Logan meant, and her face darkened.
What he was saying was clear—
Even if Selina had really hired someone to hurt her today, with him around, he could suppress the public opinion. There was no need to lie to prove Selina’s innocence.
Angelica’s expression twisted in disbelief. She had calculated every move—except for Logan’s favoritism!
Why? She was the one who got hurt, who lay in the snow for two hours!
Why was he still siding with Selina?!
She was his “lifesaver,” wasn’t she?!
Grinding her teeth, Angelica suddenly put on a gracious face.
“I knew Selina must be innocent. Logan, I’m okay. Let everyone go back and not let this ruin the mood.”
Logan glanced at her, tone flat. “I’ll have someone investigate this thoroughly and give you an answer.”
Then, he took Selina’s hand and walked out.
The room fell into dead silence. After a long pause, someone finally asked, “So… was Mrs. Reid the one behind it?”
No one dared to answer. No one wanted to cross Logan.

Amanda scoffed, “Who else could it be but Selina? Sure, there’s no proof she did it—but there’s no proof she didn’t. Mr. Reid didn’t even ask—he just walked out with her…”
“Enough, Amanda!”
Angelica cut her off with a solemn tone.
“That’s the end of it. I don’t want to pursue it any further.”
She turned to the others with a sorrowful, guilty expression.
“I believe in my sister Selina… But rumors spread so easily. I hope no one talks about what happened today.”
She added with a soft, forlorn voice, “It’s understandable that she resents me—after what happened this morning. She’s the legitimate daughter of the Clark Family… If she’s labeled as someone who tried to harm her own sister, it wouldn’t just hurt her—it would hurt the entire family. Please… just forget it happened.”
People around her looked uncomfortable—
Was she really going to swallow all this pain just to protect Selina?
She nearly died today and still couldn’t get justice. What kind of world was this?
Amanda sobbed dramatically, “Angelica, are you just going to walk away after nearly dying?!”
Angelica shook her head with quiet grace. “Let it go. And Amanda, don’t bring it up again. If Uncle Clark hears about this and blames Selina, she’ll only resent me more.”
Everyone exchanged glances. So that was it… it was over?
But with Mr. Reid shielding Selina like that, Angelica couldn’t keep pushing—it would only backfire, making even her “lifesaver” status meaningless.
Letting it go really was the best move.
Still, poor Angelica…
Lowering her eyes, Angelica subtly signaled the ski instructor with her lips.
…
Meanwhile, Selina looked down at the warm hand holding hers.
“Mr. Reid, do you believe me?”
Logan looked down at her, his tone calm.
“I know my little one. You’re not that kind of person.”
Selina’s heart skipped a beat.
She wasn’t afraid of not being able to prove her innocence—just that no one would believe her before the truth came out.
But in the face of doubt, Logan had stood firmly by her side.
And somehow, her mood didn’t seem so bad anymore.
Early the next morning, several cars pulled up to the gates of the mountain estate to take the guests back down.
Amanda supported a frail-looking Angelica, shooting a venomous glance ahead. “Some people actually have the nerve to show their face in front of Angelica!”
Selina narrowed her eyes. “Logan said he’ll find the real culprit. What’s got you so pressed?”
“Don’t get cocky. Our Angelica—”
Amanda didn’t get to finish her sentence. A scream suddenly rang out from behind them.
“Ahh! Stop him! Get out of the way—!”
Selina’s head snapped up just in time to see the ski instructor charging toward them, wild-eyed and brandishing a knife.
Chaos erupted instantly. People screamed and scattered, scrambling to get away.
“Angelica!”
“Miss Clark!”
“What do we do now?!”
In the chaos, the instructor lunged and seized Angelica, pressing the blade to her neck with a crazed expression. “Shut up! All of you, shut up!”
Amanda froze in terror. “W-What are you doing?! Don’t be stupid! Put the knife down!”
“What am I doing? What does it look like?! If I’m going to prison, then this bitch is going down with me! I told you—I wasn’t the one who planned it! But you all ignored that and let Selina go, now you’re throwing me under the bus?! Angelica, if you can’t even tell right from wrong, then maybe you shouldn’t be alive either!”
Amanda stomped her foot in panic. “Angelica, I told you we shouldn’t have let Selina go! She’s the real culprit, and now look—she hides behind Mr. Reid while you, the victim, are the one getting hurt!”
“Selina, do you even have a conscience? If you do, tell him to let Angelica go!”
Others chimed in: “Yeah, Miss Clark, please, tell him to let her go.”
Angelica, surprisingly calm, spoke up. “If you let me go now, the most they’ll charge you with is attempted murder. You might not even get a long sentence. But if I die, that’s a whole different story.”
The instructor scoffed, eyes bloodshot. “Too late. Nothing you say matters now. Someone’s going to die today—!”
“Angelica, look out!”
“Oh my god, Mr. Reid—!”
Just as the knife was about to strike, Logan appeared out of nowhere, spinning forward and kicking the man down in one swift motion, shielding Angelica behind him without a scratch.
Angelica burst into tears. “Logan, thank you… I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t—Logan!”
“Logan!”
Both Selina and Angelica shouted at once. The ski instructor, not giving up, lunged forward again with the knife.
Selina didn’t even have time to react.
But Angelica did.
Without hesitation, she threw herself in front of Logan.
Everything happened so fast that no one could react in time.
She collapsed into Logan’s arms, blood pooling beneath her, her body limp.
Jack quickly tackled the instructor, disarming him. The area fell into a stunned silence.
Selina, still held back by the crowd, looked up in shock at the scene before her—the man and woman locked in a bloody embrace.
Angelica wobbled in Logan’s arms, barely conscious.
“Angelica!” Amanda ran forward in panic. “Oh no, what do we do?!”
“Angelica!” Logan caught her as she nearly slipped from his arms, pressing his hand firmly over the wound. “We’re going to the hospital—now.”
Logan took a deep breath.
Angelica had saved his life again.
Without another word, he picked her up and rushed her to the car.
As he passed Selina, he didn’t even glance in her direction.
