Chapter 221: Smeared Online
Logan got in the car as fast as he could, and the vehicle sped off, kicking up snow in its wake.
Selina instinctively took a step forward, wanting to follow, but quickly realized how awkward that would be. Why would she even go after them?
Angelica and Logan had the kind of bond that no one could get between — a life-saving connection between the savior and the protector. Logan kicked over the ski instructor for Angelica, and Angelica got injured to protect him, as if no one else could come between them.
“You saw that, right? Mr. Reid cares most about our Angelica.”
Amanda’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “Some people think just because they’re wearing the title of Mrs. Reid, they’ve got his heart. What a joke.”
Selina narrowed her eyes. Sure, she’d felt a bit hurt moments ago — but that didn’t mean just anyone got to mock her.
She fired back without hesitation.
“Ms. Amanda, if you were on the brink of death right now, I’m sure Logan would carry you to the car too. Want to try?”
Amanda’s face went stiff. “You—!”
Luke stepped in, clearly fed up.
“Ms. Amanda, are you done? Yesterday you were saying Angelica couldn’t be without you and insisted Selina get off the car. But today Angelica’s suddenly fine to leave without you? I guess Angelica’s condition depends on how many seats are available, huh?”
Luke had been holding in his annoyance for a while.
Yesterday, Amanda claimed only three people could sit in the car, and that she had to stay close to Angelica because of her health — so Selina had to get off.
But today, when the car could only fit two, Amanda said nothing — as if Angelica’s illness had magically vanished overnight.
Amanda snapped, “You all—whatever! I have nothing to say to a murderer! Selina, just wait. Mr. Reid won’t cover for you this time!”

With that, she stormed off with a group of people.
Luke clenched his fists.
“God, she’s so punchable. It’s been a while since I hit someone. Why do fools like her keep showing up—wait, Selina, are you okay?”
Selina stood frozen in the snow, dazed, looking like a lost squirrel. Her eyes were blank, fragile.
Luke was completely freaked out. Was this still the same woman? The confident “fox spirit”? She’d never looked like this before.
“Angelica’s gonna be fine, alright? That knife didn’t even go in that deep. And it’s not your fault the ski coach went nuts. Don’t listen to Amanda — Logan definitely believes in you!”
Selina blinked slowly, coming back to her senses.
Yeah… Logan would believe her.
But deep down, she was sure Angelica planned the whole thing.
Still, Angelica had spent two hours lying in the snow, nearly in shock. And now, she’d gotten stabbed.
Who would believe Angelica risked her own life just to frame someone?
Luke looked around and muttered, “Let’s just head down the mountain. Once Angelica’s at the hospital, we can fly back to City A with Logan.”
Selina nodded, expressionless.
…
At the base of the mountain, Logan was still at the hospital, so Luke took the lead and booked a hotel.
Selina dozed off not long after checking in. Hours later, in a half-dreaming state, she heard her phone ringing. She groggily answered, “Hello…?”
A warm male voice came through the line.
“Do you want me to help suppress the online rumors?”
Selina blinked in surprise. “Damien?”
Across the city, award-winning actor Damien stood in front of a floor-to-ceiling window.
“Haven’t been online, huh? Check Twitter.”
Selina glanced at the clock — it was past 11 p.m. She’d slept nearly ten hours straight.
Opening Twitter, the trending topics hit her like cold water.
[Angelica injured in ski accident]
[Angelica hospitalized]
[Angelica & Logan: Mutual Redemption]
[Reid Group CEO saves beauty in distress]
[Angelica takes knife for Mr. Reid]
…
Several of the top ten trending topics were about Angelica. Selina casually clicked on one, and at first, the comments were focused on Angelica’s injury. But as she scrolled, the conversation quickly shifted — it had become a one-sided smear campaign against her.
Selina frowned. “Did Angelica pay for bots?”
Damien nodded. “She did. All those promo accounts under her studio are in full swing. By the time I noticed, the posts had already gained traction. Now that it’s trending, pulling it might make things worse. But if you want, I can have my team take it down.”
Selina narrowed her eyes. “Don’t waste the money. Even if we remove it, Angelica will just buy her way back to the top.”
She skimmed through the comment section:
[Angelica got injured while skiing. She was stuck in the snow for two hours and even got stabbed. She still hasn’t woken up!]
[I’m praying for Angelica. How did something like this happen on a ski trip?]
[Go watch the video Amanda posted!!]
Selina’s eyebrows arched. She tapped into Amanda’s profile — and sure enough, there was a video.
In the hospital, Amanda sat in front of the camera, eyes red from crying.
“Angelica didn’t want this to go public. I was going to keep quiet, but her injuries have only gotten worse. She’s had to pull out of her drama, variety show, and upcoming interviews. And if the scars don’t heal, she might lose endorsement deals too.”
“With everything piling up, I just couldn’t stay silent. Angelica’s injury wasn’t some freak accident. The attacker was a ski coach, and he admitted it himself — Selina hired him to assault her!”
Amanda wiped away tears, her voice trembling with fury:
“Angelica was lucky not to be ruined for life. But her life is still in danger, her career’s in shambles, and she still doesn’t want to blame the person who did this to her. Why?!”
“Selina, do you even have a conscience? Angelica is your sister. It’s bad enough that you’ve tried to kill her more than once — but now you’re hiring people to finish the job? Angelica may be willing to forgive you. I’m not.”
“Lastly, thank you to Mr. Reid. Thank you for saving Angelica — twice. You carried her out of the snow when she couldn’t even stand. And Angelica took a knife for you… maybe that’s the only thing she could ever give back.”
The video ended, but the comment section had already turned into a battlefield — and Selina was the target.
[Selina wants Angelica dead?! That’s pure evil.]
[I KNEW that witch was trouble. Angelica grew up under the same roof and probably suffered for years!]
[Hiring someone to kill her own sister?! Angelica wouldn’t hurt a fly — and Selina tried to end her life?]
Many of the insults were too vile to repeat.
Selina nearly laughed — Angelica, kind? Who was really pulling the strings here? Who was the one hiring hitmen? Between what happened four years ago and now… yeah, it was time to settle this.
Beyond the attacks on her, the comments were also filled with gossip about Logan.
[Let’s be honest, Mr. Reid and Angelica make a perfect couple…]
[A superstar and a CEO? It just makes sense. Remember when Angelica left Mr. Reid’s office wearing different clothes and smudged makeup? Her studio said they were “just friends,” but come on.]
[Exactly. If you ask me, they’ve been together for a while. Look at this trip — everyone brought their family, and Mr. Reid brought Angelica? What more proof do you need?]
