Chapter 230: Stepping Out of the Love Triangle
“Logan… Amanda just had a moment of poor judgment. In the future, she’ll—”
Logan smirked, eyes cool. “Miss Angelica, are you trying to plead on Amanda’s behalf?”
Amanda looked at Angelica with desperate hope.
Angelica couldn’t just let Amanda take the fall—Amanda was her right hand. “Logan, Amanda will find a way to make it up to Selina. It’s not like she actually caused any real harm…”
“I’m not saying she should go to jail.”
Logan’s tone stayed detached. “But she’s no longer fit to be your assistant. Or stay in the industry at all.”
Angelica felt a chill run down her spine.
He was forcing her to cut off her own arm.
Amanda had always handled the dirty work behind the scenes. Without her…
“No, no way!” Amanda’s eyes went wide as she frantically shook her head. “Angelica, please, help me! You know how much you need me—how important I am—you can’t just let me go…”
Angelica bit her lip, about to beg for Amanda, but Logan cut in lightly.
“Someone needs to take responsibility for this. If Amanda won’t, then it’ll be you, Miss Angelica.”
The hospital room fell dead silent.
Angelica’s face darkened—Logan owed her his life. And now he was threatening her?
If Amanda didn’t take the fall… she would.

Angelica took a deep breath, then suddenly turned to Amanda with resolve. “Logan’s right. You made a huge mistake, and losing your job is already the merciful outcome. Resign. I’ll find a new manager.”
Amanda’s knees buckled. “Angelica?” she whispered in disbelief.
Angelica had sacrificed even her own mother before—what was Amanda in comparison? “It’s jail or resignation. Any sane person would know which one to pick. Right, Amanda?”
Amanda saw there was no way out. She collapsed to the floor in a daze.
Logan had seen enough. He turned to leave, but Angelica called out to him.
She bit her lip. “Logan… my birthday party’s coming up. Will you come?”
Logan paused. “Angelica, I’ve already fulfilled both conditions I promised you. You still want me there?”
Angelica didn’t hesitate. “Of course, Logan, I—”
“Fine.”
Logan cut her off calmly. “Just don’t regret it, Miss Angelica.”
Angelica watched him leave, fists clenched.
Regret? Not a chance.
She was going to hold on to Logan, no matter what. She’d seen enough in the industry to know: fake stories, if marketed well enough, could become real.
She wasn’t Mrs. Reid now—but what if everyone believed she was?
Where would that leave Selina?
At least for now, Logan was still willing to attend her birthday—and all because she was his so-called savior.
Angelica’s eyes turned cold. That secret had to stay buried. Selina was in the way… way too much in the way.
…
Selina had just gotten into the car when her phone rang. It was Angelica.
“Selina, what a shame. Looks like I’ve won again today. Honestly, why do you keep going against me like this?”
Selina didn’t bother playing nice. “You won? Angelica, you already threw two people under the bus to save yourself—Katie and Amanda.”
“What happens next time your schemes fall apart? Who’s taking the hit then? James?”
Angelica’s face darkened instantly, her voice tight with rage. “So what? At least Mr. Reid thinks I’m innocent. He’s still coming to my birthday party…”
Then, with a smug, mocking tone, she added:
“Oh right, I almost forgot—it’s your birthday too, isn’t it? Did Logan even say a word about it? Some ‘Mrs. Reid’ you are. Honestly, maybe you should just get a divorce and step aside.”
Selina let out a dry chuckle, totally unfazed. “Divorce? Sure. I’ll walk away with half of Logan’s assets. Just don’t cry when that happens, dear sister.”
“Selina, you—!”
Selina didn’t let her finish. Click. She hung up the call without hesitation.
But her face didn’t match her tone—she wasn’t as calm as she sounded.
Their birthdays were on the same day, yet Logan only remembered Angelica’s?
Her phone buzzed nonstop with headlines like ‘Mr. Reid & Superstar Angelica: Wedding Bells Soon?’ as if their relationship was perfectly natural. Celebrities lined up to send congratulations.
A bitter feeling welled up inside her, turning into a surge of impulse. “Turn the car around. Take me to Sapphire Valley Villa.”
Thirty minutes later, she arrived. Without a word, she headed straight for the study on the second floor.
She clearly remembered putting the prenup in the drawer, but after searching for half an hour, it was nowhere to be found. Frustrated, she started to stand—only to bang her head hard on the edge of the desk.
Bang—
Her vision spun. She lost balance and fell straight into a strong pair of arms.
“You hit your head? Let me take a look.”
Logan had rushed back the moment he found out she returned to Sapphire Valley Villa. Just as he walked in, he saw her hit her head. “You’ve got a bump. I’ll get some ointment.”
Selina’s face went pale from the pain, but when she saw who it was, she forced herself to hold it in. “You’re trying the wrong tricks—I’m not Angelica. That crap doesn’t work on me.”
Thinking of Angelica’s arrogant words, and the rumors flooding the internet, her chest tightened with sour frustration.
She used to be willing to fight Angelica head-on. But now? She didn’t want to be the glue holding their drama-filled relationship together. If backing out was the only way, so be it.
“I and Angelica—”
“—have nothing to do with me.”
Logan looked down. He could tell she was truly mad.
He didn’t try to explain. Instead, he gently asked, “What are you looking for? I’ll help you.”
Selina froze for a moment, then replied flatly, “The prenup. I want to see what procedures I need to file for divorce.”
The air in the study went still.
Logan felt like the ground had just dropped out from under him. His voice dropped to a whisper, full of tension. “No.”
Selina’s temper flared instantly.
When she didn’t want a divorce, Angelica schemed nonstop. Now that she did want one, Logan showed up to block her. What was this—some sick game?
“You think saying ‘no’ is enough? Divorce is my choice. My freedom. You don’t get a say.”
Logan’s voice was low, controlled. “Without my consent, it’s not happening.”
Selina suddenly stopped, something clicking in her mind. Then she smiled.
“Fine. We don’t have to divorce. Plenty of couples stay married on paper and live totally separate lives. A thin little marriage certificate won’t hold me down. And just so you know—even with a husband, I’ve still got plenty of people lining up to chase me…”
Beep beep beep…
As soon as the words left her mouth, her phone rang.
She glanced down at the caller ID and raised an eyebrow. “Speak of the devil. See? There’s one now. Mr. Reid, maybe step aside a little?”
Logan looked down and saw the name: Jacob.
