Chapter 242: Plain for All to See
Laughter quickly erupted around them as others joined in mockingly:

“Mr. Reid, even we couldn’t stand it—Selina really knows how to brag.”

“Exactly. She even had the nerve to claim the island was hers. You can’t let her get away with that!”

Angelica could hardly contain her excitement. She was just waiting for Logan to personally shut Selina down and humiliate her.

But Logan didn’t even glance at Angelica. Instead, he met Selina’s eyes—then casually asked:

“Mr. Clark, those gifts I sent… who did you give them to?”

James hurried forward, bowing respectfully, “Of course I gave them to Angelica! Don’t worry, Mr. Reid—there’s no way Selina could take what was meant for Angelica!”

Logan’s tone was lazy, almost indifferent—but somehow terrifying:

“And who exactly told you…those gifts were for Angelica?”

Wait—what?

If they weren’t for Angelica… then who else could they be for?

A thought began to slowly creep into everyone’s minds—

No. No way. Selina? Mr. Reid giving gifts to her?

Angelica’s face turned ashen. Her legs wobbled—she could barely stay upright.

James visibly panicked. “Mr. Reid… what are you saying? What does that mean?”

Confusion rippled through the crowd.

Luke let out a sarcastic laugh, “Oh, what’s so hard to understand? It means the gifts were for Selina. Huh, I always thought it was just evil stepmothers… didn’t realize real dads could be just as cruel. Didn’t even ask—just handed over his own daughter’s gifts to the stepdaughter.”

Boom. The room exploded.

The gifts were for Selina?!

How was that possible?!

What kind of relationship did Logan and Selina have—for him to give her gifts on Angelica’s birthday?

James was now fully spiraling.

“No, no—Mr. Reid, I must’ve made a mistake! It has nothing to do with Angelica! I get it now—those earlier gifts were for Selina, and the island is for Angelica, right? Right?”

Yes—that had to be it!

Others started nodding too, trying to rationalize it.

“Well, she is a stepdaughter… if Mr. Reid only gave Angelica gifts, people would say he was playing favorites. Maybe he just gave Selina something small to keep the peace.”

“Yeah, makes sense. Mr. Reid still clearly favors Angelica…”

Logan raised a brow, his gaze cool and unreadable.

“The island?”

He turned slightly.

“Jack.”

Jack stepped forward and presented a document.

“This island was fully purchased by Mr. Reid under his own name. And now, as a gift, he’s officially transferring ownership to—”

He paused deliberately. Angelica, eyes gleaming, stepped forward, ready to accept it.

But Jack’s next words cut the air like a knife.

“—transferring full ownership to Miss Selina. Miss Selina, please come sign.”

Transferring… to Selina?!

Angelica froze mid-step, her hand still hanging in the air. Her face went deathly pale.

Selina’s eyes sparkled with amusement. She walked forward with an easy smile, signing her name with a flourish.

“I remember someone just now saying this island was a gift for Angelica.”

She tilted her head slightly, pretending to be puzzled.

“Angelica, was it fun trying to steal your little sister’s present?”

You bitch—!

Angelica nearly cracked. Her lips trembled, her eyes flooded with tears.

“Logan, you… you’re kidding, right? Today is my birthday…”

Logan looked at her, voice cold and calm.

“Is it really?”

Angelica was struck silent. A wave of terror shot up her spine. Her scalp tingled.

“James,” Luke said lazily, dragging out the words like he was just looking to stir the pot. He looked every bit the troublemaking rich heir, bored and smug.

“I just happened to stumble upon two birth certificates—lucky me.”

“One of them is your biological daughter Selina’s. Born December 29th, twenty-one years ago.”

“And the other one…”

Before he even finished, Luke casually flicked the second document into the crowd.

Everyone instinctively turned their heads—and then gasped.

“Angelica’s birth certificate?! She’s a year older than Selina, born twenty-two years ago… That checks out—wait a second, it says she was born in October!”

“Hold up. So today’s not Angelica’s birthday?”

“It’s Selina’s?!”

“Well, birth certificates don’t lie…”

“Then why the hell is the Clark Family throwing a huge party for Angelica? They ignored the actual birthday girl to celebrate the stepdaughter?”

James’s face turned bright red with shame. He opened his mouth to deny it—

But Luke cut him off without hesitation.

“Why would Angelica lie and claim today’s her birthday? Isn’t it obvious?” Luke said, voice oozing mockery. “She’s got a homewrecker for a mom, and somehow that gave her more status in this family than the actual eldest daughter.”

“She insists on celebrating her ‘birthday’ today so that no one would care about Selina’s. Over time, all of Selina’s gifts and recognition got stolen right out from under her nose. Tell me I’m wrong, Mr. Clark.”

Everyone turned toward James in unison.

James never imagined a birthday party would spiral this far out of control. He stammered, “Y-Young Master Luke! What you’re saying is ridiculous—pure nonsense—”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Clark, I know your memory’s not what it used to be,” Luke said, tone like a whip, “so let me help jog it.”

He stood alone, taking on the entire crowd with a grin.

“When Selina was seven, you gave both her and Angelica a little crown each for their birthday. Remember what happened?”

“Angelica broke hers on purpose, and you forced Selina to give hers up.”

“After that, no one in the Clark Family even bothered giving Selina gifts anymore—what was the point, right? Anything she got would just be taken by Angelica anyway. I’m wrong?”

“First she lost her presents, then her birthday. From that moment on, this day belonged to Angelica. A thief… celebrating a stolen birthday. Feels good, doesn’t it?”

The guests stared wide-eyed in stunned silence.

Even the celebrities and socialites in Angelica’s circle were shaken. No matter how close they were to her, even they couldn’t excuse this.

Stealing a kid’s crown at seven, forcing herself into someone else’s birthday year after year, until everything that once belonged to Selina now had Angelica’s name on it…

Angelica felt like she was about to faint as Luke aired out her past one dirty secret at a time.

This was supposed to be her big day. Her moment.

This was a nightmare.

Tears welled in her eyes as she looked desperately at Logan, clinging to her last hope.

“Logan… You came here for me. You have to be. You set off that firework and drone show just after midnight—how could that not be for me?”

Yes, the fireworks—those couldn’t have been a lie.

Logan raised his eyes, expression ice-cold as he cut her off with brutal clarity:

“I set off fireworks for my wife. What does that have to do with you?”
