Chapter 267: Completely Not Jealous
Logan watched Selina racking her brain, piling on compliments about Rowan. He suddenly leaned down.

“Mrs. Reid, do you know Rowan’s real identity?”

In the design world, most people used an alias when releasing work—Rowan was obviously not a real name. And she didn’t know who he truly was.

But did that matter?

She just wanted Logan to feel what it was like to have a rival.

“Of course I do!” Selina lied with confidence. “Rowan’s real identity is the CEO of a publicly listed company. Took over at eighteen. Ruthless, brilliant. Nobody believed in him at first, but now he’s the top dog—what he says goes.”

Logan raised a brow, amused.

If her eyes hadn’t betrayed her, he might’ve believed she really knew.

“Rowan” was the name Logan used years ago when he first returned to the Reid Family and quietly submitted a few jewelry sketches. Back then, he’d met a stubborn, passionate teenage girl—barely fifteen—who begged to learn design. So he’d taught her a bit.

Later, he heard the girl was doing well and let it go, never asking her name.

He didn’t expect to find out like this… that the clingy, curious little student who’d pouted over every sketch was now his wife.

Selina swallowed hard.

Wait. Everything she said… it kind of described Logan. Was he going to misunderstand?

“I mean, I might be exaggerating a little, but you can’t deny Rowan is one of the best out there.”

Logan smiled faintly. “True.”

Selina frowned. Why didn’t he look the least bit jealous? She was praising another man to his face, and he just… smiled?

Was she not trying hard enough?

She cleared her throat. “Since you asked if we’ve ever met, I’ll tell you.”

“We have. It was snowing. I wasn’t dressed warmly. He took off his coat and draped it over my shoulders—Logan, what are you doing?”

Snowflakes drifted from the sky. Logan handed her his coat.

“Nothing. Go on.”

Selina paused, then added seriously, “He confessed to me. I turned him down, but… he was the first person to ever say he liked me. He means a lot.”

Logan: “…” He didn’t remember confessing. Unless… Mrs. Reid had a thing for him seven years ago?

He pinched his brow. “You were what—fifteen? That Rowan of yours sounds questionable.”

Selina nearly choked. “…”

Why wasn’t he jealous about someone confessing to her? Why was he focused on the guy’s intentions?

Just as she was about to argue, a few sheets of paper were placed in her hands.

She looked down—and froze.

They were design sketches. All wedding ring drafts. Ten pairs in total. Each with a different aesthetic.

But the sharp lines, the unique flow—she recognized them instantly.

They were Rowan’s.

All of them.

How could it be Rowan?!

Why were Rowan’s design drafts in Logan’s hands?!

Selina’s face froze in shock. Her voice stuttered.

“Y-You… You and Rowan…”

Logan raised a brow, calm as ever.

“Oh right, I forgot to mention—I’ve been working with Rowan for years.”

Technically true. Designing for himself counted as “collaboration,” didn’t it?

Selina’s jaw nearly hit the floor. Panic was written all over her face.

Wait, wait!

If Logan knew Rowan… then all the stuff she just said—

She cringed internally.

She’d gone on about how “Rowan” was a handsome, young CEO… claimed he’d confessed his love to her… If Logan and Rowan ever compared notes, she was done.

Swallowing hard, she hesitated for a long beat before asking carefully,

“So… have you two ever met?”

Logan let the silence stretch, enjoying the suspense. When she finally started to sweat, he smiled.

“We usually just communicate by email. I’ve never actually met him.”

Selina let out a huge sigh of relief.

And then—

“But,” Logan added, brows furrowing, “if he really did confess to you… maybe we should skip these drafts. I don’t want a guy who had eyes on my wife designing our wedding rings.”

Selina’s relief snapped back into panic.

“No—no way!”

That was Rowan!

Her mentor. Her idol. The one who’d inspired her to start designing in the first place. A chance to wear a ring personally designed by Rowan? She’d dreamed of this for years!

Terrified Logan might actually reject the designs, she scrambled to explain, her voice cracking.

“Logan, I was young and dumb back then. Maybe it wasn’t even a confession—I probably remembered wrong. Yeah! Definitely remembered wrong. Rowan and I were completely proper! I never liked him, and he never liked me! So this ring…”

Logan gave a low chuckle, tone relaxed.

“Alright then. Mrs. Reid, pick whichever one you like.”

Selina nodded furiously and hugged the sketches like they were treasure. She planned to pick just two and ask Rowan to refine the details.

Just as she turned toward the study, Logan’s voice drifted behind her, casual and slow.

“But earlier, Mrs. Reid… you did say something wrong.”

Selina turned around, distracted. “What?”

“Nothing,” Logan said smoothly.

What she’d said earlier: I don’t like Rowan, and Rowan doesn’t like me.

That was the part she got wrong.

…

In the study, Selina poured over every design. She adored them all. But not wanting to burden Rowan, she finally settled on just two.

She was about to tell Logan when her phone rang.

Unknown number.

She declined it.

But it called again. Persistent.

Frowning, she answered.

A familiar female voice—Riley—came through, chipper as ever.

“Selina, I got your number and just had to call,” Riley said sweetly.

Selina’s gut twisted. This felt off. “Miss Nelson, can I help you?”

“I heard earlier you’re looking to have custom rings made? I know tons of designers—I could totally set you up! Logan’s probably too busy to help you pick, and I just thought, poor you, you might not have access to top-tier talent.”

Riley’s voice oozed concern, like she was doing her a favor.

“I’m super connected in the industry, so how about you let me handle your wedding ring? I’ll take care of everything.”

Selina instantly understood Riley’s game—and smiled, slow and dangerous.
