Chapter 302: Betrayed by Blood
Selina said casually, “As long as you step up and plead for Katie, I’ll let her go—no strings attached. Isn’t that kind of me?”
A spark of hope lit up in Katie’s eyes.
“Angelica…”
Angelica bit her lip hard. She didn’t believe for a second that Selina was being generous.
“What’s wrong, Angelica? Don’t want to save her?”
Selina blinked innocently, then leaned in and whispered:
“Other people might not know, but I do. Katie’s probably your real mother, right? I don’t know how you weaseled your way into the Morris family, but one thing’s clear—Katie shares your blood. And now you’re just going to give up on her? Can you really live with that?”
Angelica’s head snapped up, her face going white.
Wait—did Selina know?
Did she know that secret?
No. No way. The title of Morris family heiress could only belong to her.
She couldn’t let Selina ruin it.
Selina raised an eyebrow in surprise. She had only been speculating, but Angelica’s reaction…
Had she actually guessed right?
Angelica quickly covered, “I am part of the Morris family. But Mom raised me. I owe her for that.”

Selina didn’t press the point.
“You’re right, Angelica. And if she raised you, then you owe her even more. So how can you turn your back on her now? Just say the word, and I’ll let Katie go.”
“Sure, the Clark family might want nothing to do with her—but you’re the Morris family heiress. You can take her in. No one will stop you. Isn’t that right?”
Katie was tempted.
She didn’t have the time—or the clarity—to think through Selina’s trap.
She cried out, begging, “Angelica! Please, please help me! I’m your mom—I can’t go to prison! You’re the only one who can save me! I did it all for you!”
Angelica hesitated.
Pleading wasn’t off the table. But would Selina really let Katie go?
Right then, her phone rang.
Public backlash over the competition scandal was exploding. The bribery, the rigging, the setup—it had all gone viral.
Her agent’s voice came through, urgent and panicked.
“Angelica, what the hell is going on? Sponsors and investors are all calling! You’re about to lose your endorsements—everything!”
“I can still help spin the ‘prearranged winner’ story. But if you also helped frame Selina? If you were involved in that? Not even God can save you.”
If Angelica not only rigged the championship but also paid to ruin her own sister, her career would be over.
“Angelica, listen to me—cut ties with Katie. Now!”
Angelica’s hands clenched into fists. Her vision blurred. She nearly passed out.
It was over. Completely over.
If she didn’t make a move soon, she and the entire Clark family would be a joke in high society.
Why had everything turned out so differently from what she planned?
Selina watched her, calm and patient.
“Well, Angelica? Time’s ticking. Have you made your decision?”
Katie looked at her with desperate eyes.
“Angelica, please… save me. You’re the only one who can. Everything I did—I did for you…”
Angelica felt like she was about to snap.
If she helped Katie now, she’d go down with her.
Maybe it was better to—
She gritted her teeth, turned sharply, and—
“Mom, I can’t believe you. You were sleeping with Ellis behind my back—and framing my sister?!”
“You always said you cared about Selina, that she was the one being difficult. And I believed you…”
She turned to Selina, tears in her eyes.
“Selina, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know the truth. I didn’t want to believe my mom was hurting you. This is all my fault. Please—please forgive me.”
She dropped to her knees.
Selina gave a slow, satisfied smile.
Perfect. Mission accomplished.
She turned her gaze to Katie.
“Well, Ms. Bryant. What do you have to say for yourself?”
Katie’s eyes widened, her terrified expression frozen on her face.
Her own daughter’s betrayal was the final straw that broke her.
From this moment on, Katie would face prison. She would be reviled by the public.
And all of it… was because of Angelica.
Seeing that Katie still wouldn’t confess, Angelica panicked, afraid she’d be dragged down with her.
“Mom! How could you? Did you even think about me and Natalia before doing all this?!”
Katie snapped out of it.
Yes. Yes, she couldn’t drag her daughter down with her.
Angelica was the heiress of the Morris family. Her reputation had to stay clean. Morris must never learn the truth. As long as Angelica remained untarnished, Natalia would be safe too.
If she took all the blame herself, her daughter would walk away innocent.
But what she never expected—
Was that the person to put the knife in her back would be the daughter she loved most… the one she had sacrificed everything for.
Katie, tearful, confessed:
“Yes. It was all me. I hated Selina for being the first wife’s daughter… I wanted to ruin her, so I worked with Ellis. Angelica had nothing to do with any of it.”
“I confess… I confess…”
The room went dead silent.
Then Selina let out a small laugh.
Katie had clawed her way into the family, schemed endlessly for Angelica.
And now?
Her life was a complete joke.
Online, Katie’s recorded confession was already going viral. The truth was out.
Selina hadn’t seduced a judge. In fact, the entire competition had been rigged against her by the Clark family.
The truth completely flipped the public’s perception.
Angelica apologized.
The Clark family apologized.
It looked like the situation had been resolved.
But everyone knew—it was far from over.
As the crowd dispersed, Selina was just about to head back to the lounge with Logan when Grandpa Clark hurried up behind her.
“Selina! Just now… I was wrong about you. I didn’t know Katie was capable of such cruelty. Don’t take it to heart, we—”
Luke stepped between them in a flash, voice full of biting sarcasm.
“Oh? Who would’ve thought? Maybe everyone but the Clark family.”
Selina didn’t even bother responding.
“Luke, let’s go.”
Grandpa Clark watched her walk away, heart heavy.
Two years ago, Selina had knelt in front of him.
Why hadn’t he believed her then?
“You’re still staring after that little tramp?” James said coldly. “Good riddance. So what if she was framed? She could’ve just admitted it quietly and spared us all this mess—”
“Shut up!”
Grandpa Clark suddenly turned and roared.
James jumped. “Why are you yelling at me?!”
Grandpa Clark snapped, “You knew the truth two years ago! You knew Selina was innocent. You and Katie destroyed her together!”
James exploded, “So?! She’s a bastard child—she’s not even blood! You really think she compares to Angelica?! Can you not tell who your real granddaughter is?!”
“If Selina had just confessed back then, we wouldn’t be humiliated like this today! Everything I did was for the Clark family. She deserved what she got!”
But at those words—
“Can you not tell who your real granddaughter is?”
Grandpa Clark looked like he’d been struck by lightning.
His face went pale. He stood there, speechless.
Back in the lounge, Selina’s mood was noticeably better.
Then something hit her.
“Wait… those recordings and files—how did you get them?”
Logan raised an eyebrow. “Curious?”
Of course she was.
Some of the design competition’s internal documents were so locked down, even she couldn’t get to them. How did Logan pull it off?
Unless… he had deep ties with the competition itself?
But she’d never heard of anything like that.
Selina wracked her brain.
“To access that kind of insider information… you’d have to be someone like Rowan.”
Logan gave her a meaningful look.
“Keep guessing.”
