Chapter 309: Selina Reveals a Long-Held Hidden Skill
Selina’s face flushed bright red—whether from anger or embarrassment, even she couldn’t tell.
“Logan, having vivid fantasies is a medical condition!”
Logan didn’t argue. He casually rebuttoned his robe.
“I don’t need acupuncture.”
Selina turned away, her playful tone vanishing.
“Mr. Reid, did you know your blindness is caused by poisoning?”
It wasn’t night blindness.
It wasn’t temporary.
It was straight-up—poison.
Logan’s expression didn’t change. He answered plainly, “Yeah.”
Selina blinked.
“You knew?”
“You want to ask why I haven’t tried to cure it?” Logan said, completely unfazed.
“Because it’s incurable. It can only be suppressed. So acupuncture’s pointless.”
Luckily, the poison was under control.

Worst case? He’d go blind.
And in Logan’s mind, eyesight wasn’t nearly as critical as staying alive.
As long as he lived, certain people wouldn’t dare make a move.
Going blind was inevitable.
Acupuncture would be a waste of Selina’s effort—completely useless.
So… why bother?
Selina’s heart sank.
She had never seen this side of Logan before—
So calm, so resigned, as if blindness didn’t even matter to him.
As if those eyes… didn’t even belong to him.
Was he refusing treatment because he was afraid to hope?
But how did he know acupuncture wouldn’t work… unless he tried?
Her eyes shifted. Then, with a theatrical sigh, she muttered, “Ugh.”
Logan looked up.
Selina spoke with exaggerated grievance, “Logan, we’re in the same boat now, you know that, right?”
“What if you really lose your sight one day? What happens to me?”
Logan’s fingers froze.
Selina went on, tone wistful and guilt-tripping, “I mean, I’m so delicate. If you can’t even take care of yourself, how could you possibly protect me? And if your enemies can’t get to you… would they come for me instead?”
Logan: “…”
Selina turned up the drama.
“The Reid Family is eyeing you like a hawk, the Carter Family’s no better, and me? I’m just a clueless, helpless little woman—”
Logan brought a fist to his lips and gave a soft, dry cough.
Helpless?
She really had the nerve to say that?
He shut his eyes briefly.
When he opened them again, his voice was low and husky.
“Mrs. Reid, what are you waiting for? Weren’t you going to do acupuncture?”
She’d gone so far as to whine and beg just to help him.
How could he say no?
Even though he knew—
She’d probably end up disappointed.
Selina disinfected the needles and helped him remove his robe.
But when she saw his back—
Her pupils shrank in shock.
She had seen Logan shirtless before.
His body bore countless old scars—wounds from the Carter and Reid families.
But now there were new ones. Fresh marks. Tiny punctures.
Logan’s current status meant no one could touch him anymore.
So the only person who could’ve inflicted those wounds… was himself.
Selina’s nose stung.
She suddenly understood.
Before she ever offered acupuncture, Logan had already tried treatment.
Tried, and failed.
That’s why he’d given up.
A wave of heartache consumed her.
Even her breath trembled.
This man—
The all-powerful Logan.
Respected by everyone, admired from a distance.
But this power…Was built on suffering most people couldn’t even imagine.
These scars?
They were only a fraction of what he’d endured.
Selina took a deep breath.
Following the treatment notes Gordon had given her, She centered herself—And began the acupuncture, focused completely.
Two hours later.
Logan was drenched in sweat when he opened his eyes.
No more darkness—his vision had returned completely.
Selina, on the other hand, was absolutely exhausted.
She’d never felt this drained giving acupuncture before. Still, it seemed like it had worked.
Jack was on the verge of tears.
“Sir—your eyes!”
Logan wasn’t nearly as emotional. He figured the timing made sense—most of his episodes lasted two to three days. This was probably just the toxin subsiding.
But it would come back.
And it would keep coming back, more frequently and more severe each time.
Selina understood that, too. That’s why she didn’t look especially excited.
“I dried some herbs in the backyard for tea,” she said. “Drink a little every day.”
Those were from Uncle Gordon’s private notes. If Anna had been one of his patients, those herbs had to be helpful.
Logan nodded.
“I’ll have Miller Butler help—”
“Madam! Madam!”
Miller Butler’s urgent voice rang out from the hall.
The elderly man, well into his sixties, came stumbling in, clearly panicked.
“Madam, Madam Nelson and Miss Nelson arrived in a car and drove straight into the backyard. They ran over all the herbs you planted…”
Selina’s expression turned ice cold.
Her face, already not looking good, darkened instantly.
Miss Nelson? With the last name Nelson?
And they… destroyed her herbs?
Miller Butler knew exactly how much those herbs meant to her.
Besides the ones she’d dried, Selina had gone out of her way to plant seedlings herself, prepping soil and tending to them carefully.
It had taken three days just to get them to survive.
And now… all of her hard work, just gone.
Selina asked coldly, “Which Miss Nelson?”
If it’s Riley, then she…
“She’s Miss Riley’s cousin, and she came with Madam Nelson. After all, Madam Nelson is Miss Riley’s biological mother. I can’t stop her if she comes.”
Miller Butler’s voice was full of guilt.
“I’m so sorry, Madam.”
Selina shook her head.
“It’s not your fault. Where are Madam Nelson and Miss Nelson now?”
“Still in the backyard. I had someone hold them there, but… should we…”
Jack looked at Selina’s expression and swallowed hard.
He wanted to say something like “please remember murder is illegal,” but didn’t quite dare.
Selina must’ve noticed his look, because she suddenly smiled sweetly.
“Do I look that impulsive?”
Jack: “…”
You don’t?
But the herbs were meant to help with Logan’s vision—And now Nelson Family people had trampled them?
Jack was seething too.
Selina asked, “So you’ve detained Madam Nelson and Miss Nelson… What about their car?”
“Still in the backyard. I didn’t touch it without your order.”
“Good.”
Selina nodded with a slow, meaningful smirk.
“Logan, your vision just came back. Take a break—I’ll go handle something real quick.”
She walked a few steps, then paused and looked over her shoulder.
“Since it wasn’t Riley who came… I suppose doing something to slightly damage the friendship between our families wouldn’t be a problem, right?”
She couldn’t tell anyone the herbs were for Logan.
She couldn’t expose his blindness.
But that didn’t mean she’d do nothing.
Logan’s condition was already making her anxious.
And now someone had the nerve to mess with her—That was just asking for trouble.
Logan rubbed his fingers together, then smiled faintly.
“Of course. Whatever makes Mrs. Reid happy.”
