Chapter 310: Fighting Barbarism with Barbarism
Selina spun on her heel and headed straight for the backyard.

Miller Butler quickly followed behind.

The room fell into silence.

Only once Selina’s silhouette disappeared did Jack finally speak up, clearly anxious.

“Sir, did Madam give you acupuncture? Why didn’t you explain your condition to her… your body can’t handle that!”

Logan’s condition wasn’t suited for acupuncture at all.

He wasn’t just sick—he was poisoned. Acupuncture wouldn’t help. It could actually make the poison worse.

Unless it was done by that mysterious doctor who once treated Miss Anna, all standard methods would only accelerate the effects.

Logan remained calm, utterly unconcerned.

“My eyesight’s already like this. If the poison flares up again, so what? It can’t get much worse.”

Jack tried to keep pace, protesting, “But—”

“No buts.”

Logan paused, then gave a command.

“Don’t tell her.”

Selina wanted to heal his eyes.

That was enough.

Logan had long accepted his fate.

Going blind wasn’t a shock anymore. Whether it happened sooner or later didn’t matter.

He lived carrying secrets no one could know, always standing on the edge of the world, watching everything from the outside.

Until Selina came crashing into his life—light, chaotic, and warm.

She was trust, care, dependence—one of the rare good things that had ever happened to him.

So he wanted her to be happy.

Always.

But now someone had made her unhappy.

“Go to the backyard.”

Whether those herbs cured his eyes or not didn’t matter.

Selina had planted them with her own hands.

No one got to destroy that.

Jack swallowed nervously and mumbled, “Sir, just remember—murder’s illegal, okay? Stay calm.”

Logan chuckled quietly and gave him a meaningful look.

Jack suddenly felt a headache coming on.

He hadn’t expected Mr. Reid to be this love-struck.

What if he really couldn’t hold back and killed Madam Nelson?

…

In the backyard.

When Selina arrived, she immediately saw two women dressed in elegant, flashy outfits.

No surprise—Madam Nelson and Miss Nelson.

Nancy Nelson was in full-blown tantrum mode.

“All this fuss over some ugly little weeds? They really locked us out? We’re from the Nelson Family! You servants must have a death wish!”

Jaxon stood unmoved, expression flat.

“I’m sorry, Miss Nancy. You crushed the plants Madam personally planted. If you have something to say, please wait for Madam and Sir to arrive.”

Jaxon’s presence alone was enough to keep both Madam Nelson and Nancy in check.

Nancy, pissed and out of options, stomped on another herb.

“If Riley were here, no one would dare treat me like this!”

No one would dare?

Selina snorted softly and strolled over at an unhurried pace.

Madam Nelson caught sight of her immediately. Her eyes narrowed slightly before she put on a fake look of disapproval to scold Nancy.

“Nancy, you’ve been spoiled rotten. These are just weeds, but still—they were planted by Miss Clark. Apologize to her.”

She turned toward Selina with an oh-so-gentle smile.

“Miss Clark, I’m so sorry. Nancy didn’t know you planted them yourself. I mean, it’s just that most socialites and ladies of status don’t get their hands dirty in the garden… Oh dear, I didn’t mean that in a bad way! I’m just surprised, is all.”

Everything she said dripped with condescension.

Her words meant only one thing—

You’re Mrs. Reid, and yet you garden with your own hands? How humiliating.

“So Nancy really didn’t know you planted them,” she continued. “If she had, she never would’ve done it, right? But luckily they weren’t anything rare or valuable. Don’t be mad, Miss Clark.”

Selina let out a laugh.

Oh… so Madam Nelson’s logic was: yes, her herbs had been destroyed—but since they weren’t worth much, and since Nancy “didn’t know,” Selina had no right to be upset. If she was, she was just being petty.

Did she really look that easy to push around?

Who gave Madam Nelson the nerve to talk to her like this?

Nancy, used to getting her way, tossed a handful of crushed herbs to the ground and sneered from above.

“It’s just some weeds. Honestly, growing this crap in Sapphire Valley Villa cheapens the whole place. I’m doing you a favor—before people start mocking you for playing farmer’s wife.”

Selina didn’t say a word.

She just stared quietly at the ruined herbs on the ground.

Weeds?

Those herbs were rare medicinal plants, hand-cultivated by Uncle Gordon—priceless, life-saving, and impossible to buy with money.

Now they were all gone.

And Nancy acted like destroying them was some kind of gift.

Selina suddenly smiled.

“So Madam Nelson is admitting that Miss Nelson destroyed them?” she said, tone calm. “Then shouldn’t Miss Nelson pay for the damages?”

Madam Nelson’s face darkened.

Had this country bumpkin not understood a single thing she’d just said?

Nancy threw her head back in laughter.

“Compensate you?! Are you serious?! Selina, are you broke or just begging for money? How much could a handful of weeds cost—what, a hundred bucks? Two hundred?”

Selina raised an eyebrow.

A hundred? Two hundred?

Old Mr. Nelson had just recently offered a million for a single herb from Gordon. If he knew his own family had flattened an entire crop…

He might have a heart attack.

Just then, Jaxon approached, following Logan’s orders.

“If Madam needs anything,” he said coolly, “I’ll take care of it.”

Selina glanced up at him. He resembled Jack a little—this must be Logan’s assistant from overseas.

Well, if he was offering…

She nodded slowly.

“Miss Nelson crushed my herbs,” she said with a sweet smile, “and mocked them like they were worthless weeds. That made me… unhappy. So tell me—what do we do about that?”

Jaxon’s voice remained respectful as his eyes swept coldly over Nancy.

“Whatever Madam wishes to do, she can.”

“Even arson? Murder?”

Jaxon didn’t blink. “Of course. I’ll clean up everything afterward.”

Madam Nelson and Nancy both paled.

“Selina! What are you trying to do?!”

Murder and arson—those words actually came out of her mouth?!

Selina’s lips curled into a serene smile. With Jaxon backing her, her confidence skyrocketed.

“Relax,” she said. “I’m a law-abiding citizen. I wouldn’t do anything illegal. So—”

Nancy barely had time to exhale before Selina added lightly:

“So… smash her car.”

Jaxon nodded and turned around to issue the command.

In seconds, the guards had turned Nancy’s luxury vehicle into scrap metal—clean, quick, ruthless. Nancy didn’t even have time to scream.

She stood frozen in shock.

“Selina! I only destroyed a few lousy herbs, and you wrecked my car?! Do you have any idea how much that car cost?! You think you can afford to replace it?!”

“I can’t smash your car?”

Selina raised her brows in mock surprise, giving Nancy a once-over.

Then, innocently asked:

“Wait—would you rather I destroy you instead?”
