Chapter 311: A Failed Attempt to Sow Discord
Selina’s words dropped like a hammer—silence engulfed the entire backyard.
Jaxon: “…”
Wasn’t Mrs. Reid supposed to be gentle and mild-mannered?
She opened her mouth and it was either “kill someone” or “smash the car.” That’s gentle?
Nancy looked like she might explode. This wretched woman—what was she saying? Either Nancy’s car got totaled, or Selina was going to start committing crimes? Where did she get the nerve?!
“Stop! All of you, stop!”
Nancy trembled with rage, watching her new car get demolished.
“Selina, do you even know who I am? Do you know how close the Nelson Family is with Logan?!”
“You treat me like this, and I promise—you’ll regret it!”
Selina casually nudged a detached engine part with her toe.
“Hmm? Who are you again? Can’t say I know.”
“You don’t know and still dare to treat me this way?! Aren’t you afraid of making enemies?!”
Nancy’s voice was shaking with fury.
“I’m telling you, Riley is Logan’s close friend! And you—you smashed my car! Logan won’t let this go. Does he even know how vicious you are?!”
Just then, Madam Nelson spotted someone rounding the corner.

She gave Nancy’s sleeve a discreet tug, her eyes shifting, and sighed like a martyr.
“Nancy, let it go. You were in the wrong to begin with. Even if Clark Miss went overboard, we have to accept it. After all, she is Mrs. Reid.”
“But…” she glanced at the wrecked car, sighing even more deeply, “that car was sent back by Hunter’s people. It was meant as a gift for Logan. And now… it’s been destroyed by Clark Miss.”
Madam Nelson quickly waved her hand.
“Of course, Clark Miss, I’m not blaming you. Nancy was wrong. Don’t take her words to heart. Even if your flowers aren’t worth much, it’s still Nancy’s fault.”
“Nancy, aren’t you going to apologize to Mrs. Reid?”
Selina raised an eyebrow.
What was Madam Nelson playing at now—was she actually trying to play innocent?
They were both seasoned manipulators. Did Madam Nelson really think Selina couldn’t see through that sweet little act?
Translation: Nancy already apologized for a few cheap plants, and Selina was still unreasonable enough to smash a luxury car—one that had been a gift for Logan.
In other words, the pure and innocent Nelson Family had been wronged, while Mrs. Reid acted like a savage.
Nancy shifted her tone dramatically, her arrogance vanishing. She lowered her voice and pretended to sob.
“Clark Miss, I was wrong. I’m sorry. Boo hoo… I didn’t know those were your plants…”
Madam Nelson sighed again.
“Nancy’s just a child. She’s used to visiting Sapphire Valley Villa with Hunter and Riley. She knows the trees and flowers here by heart. She remembered there were no weeds in the backyard, so she assumed the servants were being careless and drove through.”
“Besides, Logan did tell Hunter and Riley to treat this place like their home. Nancy just thought she was at her sister’s house. That’s why she got a little too relaxed. I hope Mrs. Reid can forgive her.”
Selina nearly clapped.
Bravo. That was peak manipulative nonsense.
What were they really implying?
Oh, not much—just that Nancy considered this her sister’s home.
Simple. Because Riley was being positioned as the lady of the house.
If they were simply close to Logan, Madam Nelson could’ve said Nancy thought she was visiting her brother’s place.
But no.
It had to be “sister’s house.”
Noted.
Nancy glanced at Logan, her eyes welling up again, and suddenly burst into tears.
“Mrs. Reid, you smashed my car, I apologized… What more do you want from me?”
“Riley even told me you had a good temper—and that I should be extra patient with you!”
Nancy’s tone softened as she shifted tactics, her voice laced with trembling grievance.
“It’s a good thing it was me who came today. Even if I feel wronged, I won’t go around talking behind your back.”
“But what if it had been someone else?”
“They’d say you had no class. And that would reflect badly on Logan.”
“I grew up with Logan—he’s always treated me like a little sister. It breaks my heart…”
“How could someone like you be his wife? Do you want to drive all his friends away with your behavior?”
“Mrs. Reid, I’ll say this out of respect for Riley—Logan would never allow you to act like this.”
Selina let out a cold laugh.
What a performance.
So now she was destroying Logan’s friendships?
But when Nancy destroyed her private property—why wasn’t that considered sabotage of Logan’s marriage?
Selina opened her mouth to respond—only to be interrupted by a low, calm voice that came from directly behind her.
“Miss Nelson, who told you I didn’t approve?”
The words sent a jolt through everyone present.
Selina’s throat tightened.
Wait a second—Logan was behind her?!
When had he shown up?
No wonder the Nelson women had suddenly shifted into act-three theatrics—it was all for Logan’s benefit.
Nancy’s eyes sparkled with a touch of bashfulness.
“Logan…”
Logan didn’t even look her way.
He walked right past her—straight to Selina.
Jack arrived just then, exchanged a glance with Jaxon, and finally relaxed.
Thank god it was only a car. For a second, he thought they were going to have to clean up a body.
Nancy’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Logan, you’re ignoring me? Selina bullied me and you’re not even defending me?!”
Madam Nelson sighed as if the whole thing pained her deeply.
“Logan, I hate to say this, but you really need to get a handle on Clark Miss’s temper. What kind of lady smashes a car without a second thought? She’s going to cause so much—”
“Madam Nelson,” Logan interrupted, his voice all silk and barbs, “are you trying to teach me how to live my life?”
Madam Nelson’s confident expression froze mid-sentence.
“Logan, I—”
“You and I aren’t close. You don’t get to weigh in on my marriage.”
“Even Hunter wouldn’t interfere. Would you agree?”
The only reason the Nelson Family had gotten close to Logan at all was because of Hunter—the adopted son.
If Hunter didn’t get to meddle in Logan’s personal life, what made the Nelsons think they could?
Madam Nelson looked like she’d swallowed a lemon.
“But Clark Miss is being unreasonable—”
Logan’s eyes glinted.
“And I’m the one who lets her be unreasonable. If you have a problem, talk to me.”
That shut them up.
Both mother and daughter went pale.
Nancy looked like she might faint.
“Logan, how… how could you say that…?”
Logan didn’t so much as glance in her direction.
He just took Selina’s hand with calm certainty.
“Had enough smashing things?”
Selina winced.
“…”
Was Logan okay? Had he taken something?
Ever since he told her he was done pretending, he’d been acting like an entirely different person.
But still—
She looked from the wrecked luxury car to Nancy’s expression—one of pure murderous fury.
She smiled sweetly.
And then, in the softest, most sugary-laced, white-lotus voice she could muster—Selina struck the final blow.
“Honey… not yet.”
“I spent so much effort growing those herbs… and now they’re gone. I’m so heartbroken I can barely breathe.”
“I might pass out from the sadness.”
“Maybe smashing ten more cars would cheer me up…”
Logan indulged her without hesitation.
“Jack, look into how many cars Madam Nelson and Miss Nelson currently own.”
