Chapter 314: His Card—Swipe Freely
Jack was completely stunned.

“You don’t know?”

Logan raised a brow, not even bothering to lift his gaze.

“I’m not a doctor. Why would I know?”

“?” Jack looked like his soul left his body.

You don’t know, and you’re still drinking it? Do you even realize you’re poisoned? This could literally kill you!

Jaxon, however, glanced at the herbs and coughed lightly.

“Madam has her own reasoning. Don’t question it.”

Jaxon had spent years traveling the globe trying to find a cure, so he knew a thing or two about medicine.

And these herbs… they looked eerily similar to ones cultivated by that elusive miracle doctor.

If that was the case, the ones that got destroyed really were worth a fortune.

Meanwhile, Selina coldly dialed a video call to Gordon.

He picked up—only to be met with a view of the destroyed herbs scattered across the ground.

“…”

Gordon sucked in a sharp breath.

“Who destroyed my medicine?!”

“Nancy Nelson.”

“From the Nelson Family?” Gordon frowned.

“Heh. Just the other day their old man was begging me for a few herbs. Dream on.”

Selina’s eyes flickered.

“Then should we tell Old Mr. Nelson exactly why you turned him down?”

“Of course. But Nancy isn’t anyone important in that family. Why target you?”

Selina’s gaze darkened.

Exactly.

Why would Nancy come at her so hard when they just met for the first time today?

Which meant—

Selina raised a brow.

“Start with the small fry when hunting the boss. Even if I can’t get to the person behind her, watching Nancy suffer is enough for me.”

Gordon didn’t hesitate. He’d raise this girl—he’d back her no matter what.

“Don’t worry, Selina. I will definitely get payback for you. Oh, right—I looked into it. There’s an auction coming up. One of the items is a rare East Sea pearl. Powdered and taken as medicine, it’s said to help with your man’s eyes.”

Selina’s eyes lit up.

Gordon sighed.

“You… never mind. As long as you’re happy.”

His baby girl was grown up and in love. He wasn’t her number one anymore.

A wave of old-father bitterness hit him.

What’s so great about Logan anyway?!

Back at Sapphire Valley, Selina hung up and immediately searched for auction details.

Sure enough, it was happening in two days. Small, low-profile—but the attendees were all incredibly wealthy or powerful.

She had time. The design competition hadn’t resumed yet.

“An auction? Something catch your eye?”

Selina nodded.

Logan didn’t ask what she wanted—he just handed her a black card.

Selina blinked, stunned.

“A no-limit black card? You’re just letting me spend however I want?”

“Spend whatever you want.”

“What if I lose control and go over budget?”

Logan thought for a moment.

“What’s ‘over budget’ to Mrs. Reid?”

Selina considered.

The pearl probably wasn’t that expensive… but just to push his buttons, she tossed out a ridiculous number.

“A few hundred million?”

Logan chuckled softly.

Selina expected him to say something like “Don’t worry, I’ve got more than enough.”

But instead, his lips curved into something a little mischievous.

“It’s fine. Spend away, Mrs. Reid. After all, you’re Star—you know how to make money. I’ll just have you keep earning for me.”

“Jack always says I’m a capitalist…”

Logan smiled again.

“And a capitalist should act like one. I never invest for a loss.”

So stay with me. Always.

Selina: “?”

She was stunned.

Wait—this wasn’t how this conversation was supposed to go!

She anxiously double-checked her account.

Okay… as long as she could afford that pearl, all was well.

Two days later.

The auction was scheduled for that evening. Logan had an unmissable meeting, so he couldn’t go with her—and Selina preferred it that way. She didn’t want him to know what she was planning to buy.

Until she was sure it could actually help his vision, she didn’t want to give him false hope… and then let that hope break him.

“Selina, are you going to the auction? I was thinking of stopping by too.”

Freya called.

“What are you planning to bid on? I heard the final few items are already reserved. That’s the downside with small auctions—too many inside connections.”

“I’m after the East Sea pearl,” Selina replied.

“East Sea pearl?” Freya thought for a second.

“Oh, the one that’s mid-program. Shouldn’t be reserved—and it’s not expensive.”

Selina let out a breath of relief.

That evening, she got dressed, picked Freya up, and the two headed for the auction.

…

Meanwhile, at the venue, the auction manager was on the phone with Jack.

“Mr. Reid instructed us to look after—sorry, Jack, could you repeat that?”

Before he could finish, the call cut off due to poor signal.

From what he heard, Jack mentioned that Mr. Reid wanted him to look out for a particular woman—someone important to him. If there was anything she liked, she should get it.

The manager was just about to redial for clarification when he heard a commotion.

Turning toward the sound, his eyes lit up.

“Miss Nelson! What a surprise. Didn’t expect to see you here. Something at tonight’s auction catch your eye?”

Riley smiled gently.

“Mm. Just browsing. A few pieces caught my interest.”

The manager’s expression turned a little uneasy.

“Miss Nelson, I do apologize… some of the items are technically for show only—they’ve already been reserved privately.”

Riley pursed her lips.

“But Logan told me I could look and buy whatever I liked.”

The manager stiffened.

He’d heard whispers that Riley and Logan were… close. Now, seeing her here, he was starting to believe them.

Thinking back to Jack’s call—was the “important woman” Mr. Reid mentioned… Riley?

For the sake of reputation, the reserved listings couldn’t be adjusted, but—

He made a decision.

“Well then, Miss Nelson, if anything catches your eye, I’ll arrange for it to be gifted to you. I only ask that you put in a good word for me with Mr. Reid.”

Riley smiled, all sweetness and elegance.

…

Selina and Freya arrived at the auction hall.

To her surprise, Luke had shown up too, but he’d gone straight to his private box—she hadn’t seen him yet.

Following the number on her ticket, Selina headed to her own box—only to unexpectedly bump into someone.

Recently, Morris Family had been under heavy pressure. Kyle had come out today to find something—anything—that might lift Angelica’s spirits.

He knew the last few weeks had been brutal for her. As her brother, he couldn’t just sit around.

He heard there’d be some interesting items at the auction, so he came.

And the moment he walked in—there was Selina.

This woman had dragged Angelica through hell, and yet here she was, happily shopping at an auction?

Kyle didn’t even think.

He stepped right in front of Selina, his voice cold.

“You. Stop right there.”
