Chapter 315: Snatched Away
Selina looked up.

The once-bustling auction hall seemed to fall eerily quiet.

Kyle stood at the entrance, jaw clenched and expression grim. “Get out,” he spat.

Selina felt an odd flicker in her chest but kept her tone calm. “You own this auction house?”

“Selina, you’d better not push me.”

All Kyle could see was Angelica crying these past few days—refusing to eat, refusing to sleep, whispering “Mom” in her dreams. His heart ached.

Katie had indeed committed unforgivable acts, but she also raised Angelica. Her maternal role wasn’t meaningless.

And… Kyle couldn’t help but think of his own mother.

So when he saw Selina here, completely unaffected, a wave of hate surged up. “I said get out!”

People began turning to look.

Some recognized Kyle and Selina immediately, whispering among themselves. But Kyle—normally one to care about appearances—was too fixated on driving her out to notice.

Selina narrowed her eyes. Something was clearly off about Kyle tonight.

Freya was furious. “Young Master Morris, didn’t your family teach you manners? You think you can just order people around? Oh—I get it. Angelica ran to you crying again, huh? So now you want to stick up for Katie?”

Those around them started to piece things together. Katie’s imprisonment had been headline news.

It was one thing for Angelica to be heartbroken—but Kyle getting involved?

Kyle’s eyes were bloodshot. He snapped at Freya, “Shut up! Selina, you have two options. Walk out now—or stay and be the Morris Family’s enemy forever!”

The auction manager rushed over, clearly panicked—he couldn’t afford to offend either party.

Selina, however, looked at Kyle like he’d grown an extra head.

“Young Master Morris, haven’t I already offended your family enough?” she said evenly. “Pretty sure I burned that bridge a long time ago.”

So really, what was one more threat?

The manager stepped in quickly, “Mr. Morris, please—calm down. You and Miss Clark are seated in separate boxes.”

Kyle, realizing he had to stay if he wanted to get Angelica a gift, gritted his teeth. “Fine. But Selina—just wait.”

Selina didn’t spare him another glance. She and Freya walked off without a word.

Once in the private box, Freya exploded. “What the hell is wrong with him?! Katie framed you, you fought back, and Kyle thinks you’re in the wrong?”

“Guess he’d rather you sit there and let Katie screw you over. Angelica’s the beloved Morris Family princess, after all.”

Selina took a sip of tea, unbothered. “No need to be mad. The Morris Family and I have always been on opposite sides. Kyle’s words don’t matter to me.”

Still… something about Kyle tonight felt off.

The auction began soon after.

It started with smaller items—jewelry, handbags, little luxuries.

And just as Kyle had promised, every time Selina placed a bid, he outbid her.

Freya frowned. “Selina… if you’re going for that East Sea pearl, and Kyle keeps this up, he’ll definitely try to snipe it too.”

“If it goes too high, it won’t be worth it. We can’t let Kyle win.”

In the neighboring box, Kyle sat with bloodshot eyes, fixated.

Ever since Selina said she and the Morris Family were irreconcilable, his heart had pounded violently—like something irreversible had just happened.

No. No… Selina didn’t matter. Angelica was what mattered. He didn’t need to salvage anything with Selina. He didn’t.

Desperate to prove himself right, Kyle kept upping his bids, competing with Selina over everything.

It wasn’t until the final item went up for bid—and he reached for his card—that Kyle realized…

He was out of money.

Kyle threw a bitter look toward Selina’s private box—but in the end, he turned and left, full of reluctant anger.

Selina blinked. “That was probably Luke.”

Freya leaned her chin on her hand. “He’s really not what people say he is. The rumors in the Reid Family always make him sound like some spoiled playboy. He’s actually kinda cute.”

She was about to say more, but the host’s voice cut through the air—

“Next item up for auction: a century-old East Sea pearl!”

A perfect, luminous pearl, about the size of a pigeon egg. Truly top-tier quality.

But in a luxury-studded auction, it barely made a ripple.

Freya remarked, “Should go for around two million.”

Selina nodded and started bidding.

At first, things went smoothly—none of the other socialites seemed interested in a pearl. But once the bidding hit one million, someone else entered the fray.

The price climbed quickly. As it neared five million, Freya hesitated. “Selina… maybe let it go.”

Selina’s jaw tightened. She shook her head. “No.”

This pearl could be used in medicine for Logan. She had to win it.

…

In another private box—

Riley smirked, watching the bid paddle with scorn.

She’d already done her homework. The bidder for the pearl was Selina.

Of course it was Selina…

Well then—no mercy.

When the price hit eight million, Riley’s expression was smug, victorious.

And then she backed off. Deliberately.

She made a quick call to the auction manager. “Mr. Green, about that pearl…”

…

Selina finally won the bid at eight million. The host confirmed it.

Freya winced. “You’re really keeping that thing? Eight million for a pearl is insane.”

Selina shook her head. “It’s for Logan.”

Freya stared at her in horror. “Logan? What does a grown man want with a pearl? Gonna wear it as a pendant or something?”

“I better see for myself what’s so special about it. They should be delivering it now, right?”

Normally, the item would arrive within five minutes of payment.

But after ten… fifteen… there was still no sign of anyone at the door.

Selina’s eyes narrowed. She dialed the auction contact.

“Miss Clark…”

Mr. Green’s voice on the other end was uneasy. “We’ve refunded the eight million to your card. Apologies—the pearl was already reserved.”

Selina’s face darkened. “Mr. Green, what does that mean? Reserved? So the pearl was never really up for auction?”

“Well, technically… your bid was invalid.”

Selina let out a soft laugh. “Mr. Green, I know how auctions work. But I’ve never seen one revoke a winning bid after it’s finalized.”

Mr. Green had planned this well. Since Riley was allegedly the woman Mr. Reid had asked him to take care of, he figured the pearl shouldn’t have gone to auction at all. Better to quietly sell it to Riley for the base price and earn Mr. Reid’s favor in the process.

He hadn’t expected Selina to put up a fight.

His tone turned colder. “Miss Clark, I’m trying to be polite. That pearl was promised to a very important client. Someone you really don’t want to cross.”

Selina had never seen a more blatantly shady auction in her life.

“Oh? Then I’d love to know…” Her voice dropped. “Who exactly is this very important client I shouldn’t dare offend?”

Mr. Green scoffed. “I’ll be honest—it was Mr. Reid himself! Miss Clark, do yourself a favor. Don’t blow this out of proportion. Give Mr. Reid some respect, will you?”

Selina froze.

Mr. Reid?
