Chapter 317: Fired-Up Luke
Everyone: “…”

Madam Nelson choked on her words. Wait a second—what kind of person was Luke saying she was?

Luke looked perfectly innocent, as if he had no idea he was spilling some massive gossip:

“Didn’t Madam Nelson have her own ‘childhood sweetheart’? Even after marrying into the Nelson Family, she stayed in contact. They still exchange gifts all the time.”

“So what if you’re married? You guys still give each other presents, go shopping, see movies, hit up auctions, take yacht vacations. But you’re just friends, right? Mr. Nelson has no reason to be mad, right, Madam Nelson?”

Silence fell. A dead silence. Every jaw dropped.

Nancy froze, too stunned to say a word.

Madam Nelson’s smug expression crumbled inch by inch into sheer horror.

“…!” What the hell was Luke saying?!

And Luke, still looking like he totally understood her, turned to Selina.

“Let it go, Selina. Madam Nelson’s married but still entangled with her old flame, so her daughter getting cozy with someone else’s husband? Totally on brand.”

People in the crowd actually nodded a little.

The young master of the Reid family… kinda had a point.

If Madam Nelson was married and still flirty with other men under the “just friends” excuse, then maybe Riley really did inherit that talent. I mean, she’s flirting with a married man—same difference.

Freya backed him up.

“Exactly! Selina, don’t bother arguing logic with people who clearly don’t have any. You can’t win.”

“But for real, better steer clear of anyone from the Nelson Family. If they’re eyeing your husband today, who knows whose man they’ll be after tomorrow.”

Immediately, people began inching away from Madam Nelson like she had a contagious disease.

Madam Nelson was livid.

What were they implying? Her daughter wasn’t some random stray anyone could go after!

“Selina, you—”

Unfortunately for her, Selina didn’t even spare a glance and walked off without a word.

Madam Nelson’s rage got caught in her throat. She turned beet red and suddenly collapsed.

“Auntie!”

“Madam Nelson, are you okay?!”

…

Inside the car.

Luke was fuming. “Selina, why didn’t you say anything back there?! The Nelson Family was stepping all over you and you just stayed quiet! What would you have done if I hadn’t been there?!”

He was clearly pissed.

Selina shrugged like it was no big deal. “They’re not worth my time.”

She wasn’t lying. So Riley got the pearl—big deal. She’d find a way to get it back.

As for Madam Nelson and Nancy? They were just trying to get under her skin. If she actually got mad, they’d win.

But to Luke, it meant something totally different.

“What?! You’re seriously just letting this go? They obviously want to get close to Logan. He’s your husband! And you didn’t even speak up! What, are you just gonna let it slide?!”

“No way. I’m coming back to Sapphire Valley Villa with you!”

The more Luke ranted, the more fired up he got. And in his burst of righteous fury, he shot to his feet—forgetting he was inside a car.

Thud!

He slammed his head against the roof and collapsed back into the seat, dazed.

Freya: “…”

This young master might actually be a little unhinged.

Luke clutched the lump on his head, muttering weakly, “You can’t keep letting them walk all over you… I can’t stand it…”

Freya was silent again: “…”

Selina? Passive? Timid? Unbothered?

Those were literally the last three words anyone would ever associate with her.

Yup. No doubt about it.

This rich boy had a few screws loose.

Sapphire Valley Villa.

Logan’s poisoning had entered a dormant phase, and his vision had returned to normal.

But he knew—it wouldn’t last long.

He glanced at the time. Selina should be back soon.

He’d already told Jack to inform the auction house manager to take care of Selina, so she should be walking in with the item she wanted by now.

Creaaak—

Just then, the front door opened in the distance. Logan looked up, Adam’s apple bobbing slightly. “Se—”

Bang!

Before he could finish, Luke grabbed his arm, yanked him out of the house, and slammed the door shut behind him.

“Go outside and reflect on what you’ve done, you scumbag!”

Logan: “…”

What just happened?

Inside the villa.

Apparently, kicking Logan out wasn’t enough for Luke to calm down.

He gritted his teeth, eyes blazing. “He’s a dog. He has to be. How could he—how could he do that…”

His voice trailed off, and by the end, his eyes were red.

Freya was stunned. “…Uh, shouldn’t Selina be the one who’s mad? Why are you crying?”

“I’m not crying!” Luke barked, absolutely fuming.

“I’m gonna ask Logan straight up—how could he give Riley the thing Selina wanted? Riley’s not even his wife! If he had married Riley from the start, I wouldn’t say a word. But—but—”

But Logan’s marriage certificate said Selina, didn’t it?

Luke and Logan were both “illegitimate kids.” He knew that all the pain the Reid Family had endured—Logan, Anna, Grandma Perry, even himself—stemmed from one thing: a sleazy father who couldn’t keep it in his pants.

Luke hated cheaters. Since he was a kid, he swore he’d never be that kind of man. He thought Logan felt the same way.

So why…

The more Luke thought about it, the angrier he got. He jumped to his feet and flung the door open, staring Logan down with puffy eyes and puffed cheeks, like a betrayed puppy.

“Logan, did you forget what you used to teach me?! Now you’re out here helping someone else steal from Selina? I hate you!”

Then, furious, Luke turned to storm off—but Logan, worried he’d hurt himself, caught him quickly.

“Explain. What’s going on?” Logan said firmly.

Luke looked up at him, eyes shimmering, the world clearly crashing down around him.

Selina realized there had been a misunderstanding. “Luke…”

“I’m sorry for coming by so late, Logan.”

Riley stepped inside under Miller Butler’s guidance, surprise flickering across her face when she saw Luke.

“What happened to Luke? Oh—Logan, my brother couldn’t come himself, but he finalized the proposal. Could you take a look and sign it if it looks good?”

Selina narrowed her eyes.

Every time Riley came to Sapphire Valley Villa, it was under some official excuse.

But how exactly did she keep getting these excuses?

Logan reached out to take the folder—

Only to have Luke block it with his whole body, face tense. “No. You’re not allowed to touch anything Riley’s touched!”

The whole villa fell into stunned silence.

Riley froze, her expression faltering for a moment before shifting into innocent confusion. “Luke? What’s wrong? This is an important document. If you don’t understand, that’s fine, but don’t make trouble for Logan…”
