Chapter 320: Utterly Foolish!
Joe looked uncomfortable.

“Mom, it’s been so many years. Why are you still holding this grudge against Victoria… Anyway, Angelica is my daughter. I won’t let her be mistreated. Once we’re back in City H, I’m putting her on the family register and making her identity public.”

“And besides, Kyle is Victoria’s son too—how come you’ve never once shown him the cold shoulder?”

Grandma Morris scoffed inwardly.

Kyle was at least a boy, and he’d been raised right under her nose. Any trace of that woman had long been erased from him. How could he and Angelica possibly be the same?

But since her son was still here, she didn’t want to cause a full-blown scene. So, she cast a lazy glance toward the so-called “Morris Family’s young lady.”

But that one glance made her eyes go wide.

She realized instantly—this woman was not Victoria’s daughter.

Joe might’ve been foolishly searching for that woman’s child for years, but Grandma Morris had known all along what Victoria’s daughter was called, and where she lived.

And this woman in front of her?

Was not Selina.

So…

Grandma Morris’s eyes flicked with thought.

“Joe, leave us for a bit. I want to speak to Angelica in private.”

Joe resisted.

“Mom, Angelica is Angelica. Victoria is Victoria. Even if you didn’t like Victoria, Angelica is still my daughter—”

“What, do you think I’m going to eat her?” Grandma Morris shot Angelica a glance.

“Come.”

Angelica put on her most gentle smile.

“Dad, Grandma’s a good person. She won’t do anything to me, I’ll be right back.”

She followed Grandma Morris into the study.

Before Angelica could say anything, Grandma Morris sat down with a smug, superior look on her face.

“I know you’re not Victoria Hill’s daughter.”

Angelica stiffened instantly.

Wait—Victoria Hill? Wasn’t her last name Adams?

“Grandma, you must be mistaken. I’m my father’s—”

Grandma Morris cut her off, scoffing.

“Drop the act. I’ve known for years that Victoria’s daughter is named Selina. You’re impersonating her to get close to Joe, aren’t you?”

Angelica’s eyes filled with tears.

“I just—”

“I know you’re not his biological daughter,” Grandma Morris said, completely uninterested in her act, “But…”

“I can make you one.”

“When that woman Victoria was alive, she had my son wrapped around her little finger. Now that she’s dead, she’s still causing problems.”

Her eyes grew cold, her voice chilling.

“Her daughter suffering out there? Serves her right.”

Angelica’s eyes flickered. She hadn’t expected Grandma Morris to hate Victoria this much.

Oh, Selina… don’t blame me for this.

Even if you made it back to the Morris Family, you’d only be rejected. You weren’t born for this kind of life. Might as well let me enjoy it in your place.

…

Outside the door, Kyle stood frozen—completely stunned. He stumbled backward, panic rising, and ran off in a daze.

Angelica… wasn’t his real sister.

She had taken the identity of his real sister.

And his real sister was… the same woman he’d humiliated in public at the auction today—Selina.

It was over.

How had it all gone so wrong?

Because of Angelica, a massive rift now stood between him and his real sister.

Selina had even said… she and the Morris Family were enemies.

No!

What the hell was he doing?

He’d taken the side of a stranger and turned against his own blood. Against Selina.

Kyle smacked himself twice in the head, rage and regret crashing over him in waves.

How was he supposed to explain this to Joe?

Kyle knew exactly how his father felt about that daughter—how all his love and guilt for Victoria had been poured into her.

And now…

He’d mistaken someone else for her.

He’d pushed his real sister further and further away.

If Joe ever found out—he’d be kicked out of the Morris Family for sure. Joe didn’t love him the most. It was always her.

It was always Selina.

Kyle shuddered from head to toe, unable to think any further.

No—he couldn’t let this go there.

A flicker of something dark crossed his eyes.

If he’d already made the mistake, then he might as well see it through.

He would still be the loving older brother. He’d find a way to make it up to Selina… but Angelica’s lie—her identity—could not be exposed.

Kyle told himself, half in guilt, that everything he was doing was for the sake of the Morris Family.

Even if Selina found out the truth one day… she couldn’t blame him for it. Right?

“Kyle, Kyle! I’m talking to you—did you hear a word I said?” Joe’s voice cut in, impatient.

Kyle snapped out of it, startled to find Joe right in front of him.

“Huh? What did you say, Dad?”

Joe sighed.

“I said, now that Angelica is home, we’ll let her handle the fashion side of the business. She wants to collaborate with Logan. Go with her in a few days and help her out.”

Kyle opened his mouth, but… couldn’t find a single word to say.

…

A few days later.

The design competition was finally resuming. All contestants were required to report to the designated venue within two days.

Inside Reid Group’s office—

Selina reread the official notice again and again.

“This competition’s been on and off so many times. Tons of sponsors already pulled out. Can it even move forward?”

She was banking on this award ceremony to publicly expose Angelica’s plagiarism. The competition absolutely couldn’t collapse.

Logan glanced through a stack of documents.

”

It’ll happen.”

Selina blinked.

“How can you be so sure? Did you invest?”

His fingers paused.

“Rowan invested a lot.”

Technically, Logan hadn’t made any investments under his name. It was all done under “Rowan.”

“For real?!” Selina visibly lit up and grabbed her phone.

“I need to properly thank him.”

Logan: “…”

Why did that feel so annoying?

Sure, he and Rowan were the same person. But Mrs. Reid was about to throw herself at Rowan in gratitude while ignoring him. It left a weird taste in his mouth.

“Mrs. Reid, take a look at this.” Logan slid a folder across the desk.

Selina leaned in curiously—then froze.

Back when she was still going by Star, she’d rejected Reid Group twice. Since then, everyone knew Star and Logan stayed in their own lanes.

Even now that her identity was out in the open, she’d never once considered collaborating again.

Because… well, Star had pride!

She’d publicly sworn never to work with Reid Group—and she was sticking to it.

Signing now? That’d be slapping her past self in the face.

Selina muttered under her breath, “Not signing.”

Logan chuckled, amused.

“Mrs. Reid, you sure about that? If I remember correctly, you once promised that if I ever caught you, you’d work for Reid Group free of charge for a full year.”

Selina was instantly filled with regret.

Why had she ever made such a stupid bet? Why did Past Selina have water in her brain?

Logan, seeing her speechless, added with a serious tone,

“I’m not forcing you to be my exclusive designer. This is just a partnership—one that would benefit you far more than it would hurt.”

Selina knew that.

Of course she knew. The partnership would be mutually beneficial. But still…

Just then, a knock came at the door.

“Sir,” Jack said, stepping in, “Kyle Morris and Angelica are downstairs. They’re asking to discuss a potential collaboration with you.”
