Chapter 322: No Comparison at All
Selina’s words landed like a hammer, hitting hard and making Angelica’s face turn pale.

“Selina, that may be true… but at least I have recognition. Otherwise, why would so many companies want to work with me?”

Selina raised an eyebrow. “You really don’t know why those companies want to work with you?”

Angelica’s eyes welled up. “Selina, don’t make trouble…”

“It’s because you’re the Morris Family’s heiress. Angelica, you don’t actually think it’s your design talent they’re after, do you? No, what they’re interested in is your title.”

Selina glanced meaningfully at Kyle.

“After all, with a brainless father who spoils you and a brother who fights your battles, getting you means getting the whole Morris Family’s backing.”

“But Reid Group is already above Morris Family in status. They don’t need your family’s money. So why would they settle?”

Angelica’s throat tightened. Nonsense.

Those people liked her because of her talent—not just because of her family! Selina was clearly jealous.

Kyle frowned. “Selina, you’re still young. There’s a lot you don’t understand. Angelica has real skills. Stop making a scene. If this ruins a major collaboration, can you take responsibility?”

Angelica sighed softly, the picture of grace. “Selina, I know you don’t like me. But think about Logan. If he loses this deal—”

“I’m stopping it because I’m thinking about Logan.”

Selina blinked innocently and, before Kyle could explode, dropped a bomb that silenced the room—

“Star has already agreed to be Reid Group’s designer. If Logan breaks that deal for Angelica, what do you think people will say?”

Logan’s lips curled slightly.

Selina flipped her hair. “Angelica, surely you don’t expect Logan to push Star aside for you? Who do you think you are?”

“Star’s won countless gold awards in recent years. She’s arguably the best young designer out there. Logan finally convinced her to join Reid Group—”

Selina bragged without blinking, “When it comes to talent, Star is a rare genius. When it comes to fame, her awards are all hard-earned. And you? You got your trophy taken away.”

“So, Angelica, what makes you think you can compare?”

Angelica’s face froze. Humiliation and rage nearly spilled over.

Star? No way.

If Reid Group really partnered with Star, what would happen to her? Her press release announcing her new role as Reid Group’s lead designer had already gone out—she couldn’t afford this kind of embarrassment!

Angelica bit her lip, teary-eyed. “Logan, Selina’s making this up, right? Star said five years ago she’d never work with Reid Group.”

“Selina, don’t lie just to get under my skin…”

All eyes turned to Logan, waiting.

Selina gritted her teeth and shot him a subtle glare.

Say something! She already agreed to the deal. What was he waiting for?

Logan gave a faint smile.

Selina grew more anxious—what was he smiling for? Did he actually like Angelica? Was he blind?

Logan read her expression easily.

Alright, enough teasing.

He nodded slightly, voice calm. “It’s true. Star agreed.”

Angelica swayed on her feet, the shock hitting so hard her face turned ghostly pale—she looked like she might faint at any moment.

Kyle’s heart softened. “Mr. Reid, but what about Angelica? She’s put her whole heart into working with you. Now that you’ve signed someone else, are you really just going to leave her behind like she doesn’t matter?”

Selina couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Mr. Morris, when I didn’t let Angelica sign a contract with Logan, you accused me of ruining the deal. Now that Logan has a better partner lined up, suddenly he’s the bad guy for not prioritizing Miss Morris’s feelings?”

“What, is Logan only allowed to work with the Morris Family? Does the Morris Family control the sky, the ground, and now the internal affairs of Reid Group too?”

Kyle realized he’d gone too far. “That’s not what I meant…”

He gave Selina a conflicted look.

Why was she like this? Didn’t she understand she was part of the Morris Family? She should be helping them.

If Angelica succeeded, the Morris Family would grow stronger—Selina included. Why couldn’t she see that…?

Angelica bit her lip, forcing a strained smile. “Logan, since you’ve found a better fit, of course I won’t argue. But… I’m a student of Star’s, and I’ve never heard anything about her working with you.”

“I mean… how did you even convince her?”

She still didn’t believe it. This had to be a lie—something Selina made up just to humiliate her.

Selina raised an eyebrow, voice casual. “So Angelica, are you asking to see Star’s signed contract? Just to prove I’m not lying?”

“Star may have issues with Logan, but not with me. Isn’t that right, Logan?”

Logan caught on instantly, lips curling slightly. He played along without missing a beat, voice smooth, “Yes. I have Selina to thank for making it happen.”

Angelica’s face dropped.

No way. No. No.

There was no way Selina had any connection to Star.

This had to be a lie. Selina just wanted to save face. Fine. If Selina wanted to look good, she’d make sure Selina lost everything.

Angelica clenched her jaw, mind whirring, then suddenly smiled sweetly.

“Oh, so you and Star are good friends? Star is famously selective—she doesn’t befriend just anyone. Even I’m only worthy of being her student. So, Selina, you must have something really special to catch her eye, right?”

Angelica’s voice dripped with fake admiration. “Like maybe… some kind of unique design insight? You must be set to win this year’s design competition. I believe in Star’s taste—her friends must be excellent designers. I’m sure you’ll stand out.”

Angelica seemed like she was speaking up for Selina, but every word was a carefully laid trap.

—If Selina was truly Star’s friend, then her designs had to be amazing. But if she got eliminated, it would prove she was faking the connection.

Selina caught on instantly. She gave Angelica a look full of meaning.

“All right then, Angelica. See you at the design competition. And when the time comes, I’ll make sure to give you a surprise.”
