- Chapter 83 - Chapter 83 The Bet
Chapter 83: The Bet Chapter 83: The Bet Silence. The only sound across the racetrack was the whistling of the wind. Vivian was fuming.
That little beast had seemed so docile just moments ago-who knew it would have such a fiery temperament! To make matters worse, Selina was standing there mocking her.
Vivian’s face turned red, then white, humiliated like never before. “Vivian, are you hurt?” Dylan rushed to help her up, glaring venomously at the horse. “This beast dared to hurt you!
I’ll have someone kill it immediately to make it up to you!” The others quickly joined in, eager to appease Vivian. “Yes, yes, it’s all the horse’s fault.
It’s too temperamental to stay at the racetrack.” “Vivian is someone of high status.
It should have been an honor for the horse to carry her, and yet it acted so ungrateful.” Vivian’s anger subsided slightly as she regained her composure.
Her face still dark, she snapped, “Go ahead and kill this horse for me.” Selina’s expression turned cold. These people were completely unreasonable.
From the beginning, the manager had explained to Vivian that this horse already had an owner. It was common knowledge that a horse with a bonded owner wouldn’t accept a stranger. But not only had Vivian ignored that and used her influence to force the issue, she now wanted the horse killed for her own mistake?
Where did she get the audacity? Amid the sycophantic reassurances, Selina’s calm voice cut through the tension. “Miss Perry, if you can’t mount the horse, don’t blame the horse.
If you can’t ride any of the horses here, are you going to slaughter the entire stable?
At least leave Mr.
Carter a few horses-after all, this is his racetrack.” The crowd fell silent. Vivian’s blood boiled as her face twisted in rage.
“What did you say?!” Selina raised an eyebrow.
“I said, admit your lack of skill.” “You-!” Vivian nearly choked on her fury. Dylan, desperate to defend her honor, sneered at Selina.
“Who do you think you are, mocking Vivian’s riding skills?
You’re nothing!
If you’ve got guts, why don’t you race me?” Selina turned to him, her tone indifferent.
“You all believe I can’t ride.
Challenging me to a race is just bullying someone weaker, isn’t it?” Thinking he had finally found her weak spot, Dylan laughed loudly.
“So, what’s it going to be?
If you don’t dare, then get on your knees and apologize to Vivian!” Selina blinked slowly. What was with these people and their obsession with making others kneel? The crowd exchanged glances, their voices turning mocking. “Miss Clark, just kneel and apologize.
Young Master Dylan is one of the best riders among us.
You don’t stand a chance against him.” “Exactly.
Have you even ridden a horse before?
Save yourself the embarrassment of falling off before you even start!” Dylan smirked arrogantly.
“What’s wrong?
Too scared?
If you’re scared, crawl over and kneel!” Selina raised an eyebrow.
“Fine, I’ll race you.
If you win, I’ll kneel and apologize.

But if I win?” Vivian feigned concern, shaking her head as though she were trying to reason with a reckless child. “Selina, don’t be stubborn.
Just apologize to me, and I won’t make things difficult for you.
But if you insist on racing Dylan, I won’t be able to help you.” “Don’t try to protect her, Vivian!
She’s so arrogant-she needs to be taught a lesson!” Dylan, eager to humiliate Selina, smirked and said coldly, “If you win, I’ll give you 5% of Sanders Group’s shares.
Do you dare?” Of course, he wasn’t worried-there was no way she could win.
Someone who had supposedly never ridden a horse stood no chance against him.
That’s why he made the offer so confidently. To his surprise, Selina chuckled softly.
“Alright.
Five percent of Sanders Group.
Don’t forget your promise.” A sudden unease crept into Dylan’s heart. But he quickly brushed it aside, convinced she was bluffing to save face.
“As if I’d be scared of you!
Just make sure you don’t back out when you lose!” Dylan quickly selected a horse and, seated high on its back, mocked Selina.
“Miss Clark, where’s your horse?
The race is about to start.” Selina took a few steps forward, stopping in front of the snow-white horse.
Her expression remained calm. “This one,” she said plainly. That one?
The crowd couldn’t hold back their laughter, and even Vivian’s lips curled in amusement. Idiot! Dylan burst into laughter.
“That horse is wild and temperamental.
Vivian couldn’t even tame it, and you think you can ride it to beat me?
You’re already destined to lose!” Selina nodded, her face composed, and effortlessly mounted the horse. Everyone watched, waiting for her to fall. One second passed.
Two seconds… Selina sat firmly atop the horse, which now seemed docile as could be.
Gone was the fiery temperament that had thrown Vivian off earlier. Dylan’s confidence wavered as he took in Selina’s calm demeanor, and a sinking feeling crept into his chest. “Mr.
Sanders,” Selina said smoothly, her voice calm as she passed by him, “Vivian said I couldn’t ride a horse, and you just believed her?” She tightened her grip on the reins, giving Dylan a cool glance.
“You’re a grown man-use your brain.
And about that 5% stake in Sanders Group… I’ll take it.” With that, the crowd watched in stunned silence as Selina raced off.
Her posture was steady, her expression confident. This wasn’t someone who didn’t know how to ride-she was clearly an expert! Vivian stumbled back in shock, her face going pale. Selina could ride?
Wasn’t she supposed to be some bumpkin from the countryside? The very horse that had thrown Vivian was now galloping gracefully with Selina in control.
What would people think?
Would they believe Vivian was inferior to Selina? Wait. A more devastating thought hit Vivian. Dylan had staked 5% of Sanders Group’s shares on the race with Selina… Dylan, meanwhile, was panicking.
He clumsily tried to pursue her, but for some inexplicable reason, his horse reared back and neighed loudly.
Before he could react, he was thrown off, hitting the ground with a thud! He hadn’t even made it ten meters! The race’s outcome was clear.
Dylan lay on the ground, disbelief plastered across his face. Selina could ride?
Vivian had sworn she couldn’t!
What now?
Losing face was one thing, but losing the shares was unthinkable! “Mr.
Sanders, do you honor your bets?” Selina circled back, smoothly dismounted, and casually reminded him, “5% of the shares.” The sudden reversal of fortunes left everyone stunned-no one had expected Selina to win! Dylan’s face betrayed his panic. Vivian bit her lip hard, her eyes filled with resentment.
“Miss Clark, how could you take this seriously?
Do you think Sanders Group shares are such a trivial matter, something to just hand over like that?” Dylan quickly seized the opportunity.
“Exactly!
Shares?
What shares?
I was just joking earlier!” Selina’s expression remained calm, but her words carried an edge.
“Oh… so Mr.
Sanders intends to back out of his bet?” “You-you…” Dylan sputtered, enraged.
“You stupid bumpkin, don’t push your luck!
You actually think I’d hand over my shares?
Keep dreaming!
You’ll regret this-I’ll make sure of it!” Selina’s tone stayed light, but her words were sharp.
“What’s there to regret?
That you couldn’t match my skills and lost to a bumpkin like me?
That wouldn’t look too good if word got out, would it?” Dylan’s face twitched with rage, his muscles trembling uncontrollably. “You little-!
I’ll kill you, you-ah!” Before he could finish, someone stormed over and slapped him hard across the face. “And who exactly are you threatening to kill?” Dylan was about to curse them out, but when he turned to see the man, his words caught in his throat.
“Dad?” Selina raised an eyebrow in amusement.
The man was none other than the chairman of Sanders Group-Dylan’s father. And behind the chairman… Logan stood, his eyes meeting Selina’s with a calm, unreadable gaze.
