- Chapter 90 - Chapter 90 I'm Jealous
Chapter 90: I’m Jealous Chapter 90: I’m Jealous The man standing before her was none other than Mr.
Carter, the one who had helped her at LS Square.
Selina was about to ask why he was here, but then she stopped herself, mentally smacking her forehead.
Wasn’t it obvious?
He shared the same last name, Carter.
Of course, he would be attending the Carter Family’s banquet. However… Selina cleared her throat.
“The banquet’s already over.
You’re late.” Jacob nodded with a slight smile.
“To be honest, Miss Clark, I came late on purpose.
Ending it works just fine for me-saves me the trouble of going inside.” Selina was stunned by his reply, her curiosity about his identity growing even stronger. “Are you part of the Carter Family’s branch?” she asked. It made sense-only a peripheral member of the family would show such indifference to Old Mr.
Carter’s banquet. Jacob didn’t answer directly.
“You could say that.
I’m not particularly interested in the Carter Family, so I avoid events like this when I can.” Oh, so this Mr.
Carter was really just a marginal figure in the family. Still, if even Logan, the Carter Family heir, hadn’t shown up… “Miss Clark seems very concerned about the Carter Family,” Jacob commented with a faint smile.
“Can I ask why?” Selina froze for a moment.
This Mr.
Carter already knew about her connection to Logan, so why even ask? -Her husband was part of the Carter Family.
Wasn’t it natural for her to care? Jacob’s tone turned meaningful.
“Miss Clark, have you ever considered that maybe you…” “Mrs.
Reid.” A low male voice abruptly interrupted their conversation. Selina’s expression stiffened as she slowly turned her head, meeting Logan’s deeply displeased gaze. “…” Why did she feel like she’d just been caught doing something she shouldn’t? For the record, she and Mr.
Carter had only bumped into each other by chance! Logan’s expression remained cold.
“How much longer were you planning to chat?
Get in the car.” Selina instantly abandoned Jacob, hurrying to Logan’s car.
“Didn’t you say Jack was coming to pick me up?
Why are you here?” “If I hadn’t come, how else would I witness Mrs.
Reid enjoying a pleasant conversation with another man?” Logan reached out, brushing his fingers lightly over her temple.
“Was it a delightful chat?” “No, no, not delightful at all!” Selina quickly stammered, guilt creeping into her voice as she slipped into the car.
“Well then, Mr.
Carter, I’ll be leaving now.” Jacob didn’t seem fazed by the interruption.
Instead, he turned to Logan and offered a knowing smile before walking away. Inside the car, Logan asked casually, “What were you talking about?” “N-nothing much,” Selina stuttered. Logan glanced at her briefly before leaning in, his warm breath brushing against her skin. “Mrs.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Reid,” he murmured, his voice low and deliberate, “I’ve been thinking.
Maybe we should make our marriage public sooner rather than later, just to prevent certain people from deliberately approaching you.
Don’t you agree?” Selina blinked, her mind processing his words for a full thirty seconds before her eyes widened in shock. “Logan, you… you’re not jealous, are you?!” The very idea was so outrageous that she immediately denied it.
“No, that’s impossible!
I mean, Mr.
Carter and I were just-“Â “You’re right, Mrs.
Reid,” Logan interrupted smoothly, his voice unreadable.
“I am jealous.” Selina nearly choked on her own spit. She hadn’t expected Logan to admit it outright!
Jealous?
Was this what jealousy looked like? “So, Mrs.
Reid,” Logan continued, his tone calm but firm, “please avoid getting too close to other men in the future, especially anyone else from the Carter Family.” He glanced at his watch.
“The driver will take you home.
I need to head to the office.” The car stopped outside the Reid Group’s building, leaving Selina in a daze as she watched Logan walk away. Wait a second-hadn’t he been injured?
Why was he going to the office? … Inside the elevator, Logan’s vision suddenly went dark. Jack caught him just in time, his voice laced with worry.
“Sir!
I’ll call Dr.
Drake to come get you immediately!” Pain exploded behind Logan’s eyes like a firecracker, making his head throb.
“No need to make a scene,” he muttered through gritted teeth. “Sir,” Jack protested, “I could’ve picked up Mrs.
Reid.
There was no need for you to personally-“Â Logan calmly interrupted, “Picking her up isn’t a big deal.
Keep an eye on the Clark Family’s movements.
Also…” Jack straightened up, expecting an important directive. Then he heard Logan’s unhurried voice: “Keep Jacob away from her.
He’s an eyesore.” … Meanwhile, back at the Carter Family estate: Inside the banquet hall, Ryan frowned.
“Natalia, what’s going on?!
The bracelet was in your bag-why are you blaming Selina?” Natalia sobbed dramatically, “Ryan, I swear I didn’t know!
My bag was completely empty earlier.
Oh, wait-it must have been Avery…” Her eyes lit up, and without hesitation, she shifted the blame to Avery. “Avery touched my bag earlier!
Avery, tell the truth-did you steal the bracelet and frame my sister on purpose?” Avery froze, utterly dumbfounded.
Before she could defend herself, she caught Natalia’s venomous glare and involuntarily shivered. Natalia continued crying, “How could you do this?
I trusted you!
Now how am I supposed to face my sister after this shame?” Ryan’s expression twisted in disgust.
“So it was you stirring up trouble?
Get her out of here!” Avery, unable to explain, turned red with fury.
For the first time, resentment toward Natalia bloomed in her heart. It was clear to her: Natalia had tried to sabotage Selina out of jealousy, and now she was pushing all the blame onto her. Natalia, however, didn’t care about Avery’s feelings at all. Her attention had been captured by something else-a watch on Selina’s wrist.
It was identical to Logan’s couple’s watch. The thought crept back into Natalia’s mind, and her expression darkened. Selina and Logan… No, it couldn’t be.
Logan wouldn’t possibly fall for someone like her! But just to be safe, Natalia needed to seize control of Selina’s marriage. Her eyes flickered with calculation as she made a quiet phone call.
“Mr.
Taylor?
It’s Natalia.
I have good news for you.
My sister has decided to accept your proposal.
Pick a date and visit the Clark Family to propose, won’t you?” Outside the banquet hall, Jacob overheard Natalia’s words, his expression shifting faintly. … A week later, at City A University: Logan had been absent for days, and Selina was about to call Jack when she noticed a few lingering gazes directed her way. Frowning slightly, she realized a group of people nearby was discussing something with their backs turned to her. “Selina’s getting married?
Are you serious?” “It must be true.
The news is already out-her fiancé is going to the Clark Group to propose today.” “I heard the guy’s a total scumbag who’s ruined countless women.
How could Selina even stomach him?
Gross…” “Shh, stop!
She can hear us!” When the group turned around, they raised their voices as if to cover their guilt. “So what if she hears us?
We’re not lying.
Selling her body for money-what a shameless gold digger!” “Exactly!
She doesn’t deserve to be our classmate.” Selina narrowed her eyes.
Married?
That was news to her. Just then, her phone buzzed.
It was Manager Green from the Clark Group. “Selina, the whole company’s buzzing with talk about you marrying Mr.
Taylor.
What’s going on?” Selina’s tone turned icy.
“Mr.
Taylor?” “Yes!
Mr.
Clark is about to hold a meeting to formally announce it.
You’d better get here fast!” Selina instantly saw through Natalia’s scheme.
No wonder the school was abuzz-she’d been “forced” into a marriage. It was obvious that Natalia wouldn’t feel secure until she saw her married off, so she’d conveniently chosen a notorious playboy from a wealthy family for her. If Selina were single, resisting might have been difficult. But unfortunately for Natalia… Selina calmly called her driver and headed back to Sapphire Valley Villa to retrieve her marriage certificate.
Holding it up with a smile, she told the driver, “Take me to the Clark Group, please.” Forcing a married woman into a second marriage?
That’s illegal. Did Natalia know that?
