Marry My Billionaire Second Husband - Chapter 272
Chapter 272: Rendezvous
“Aiden?” Matteo echoed, surprised. He raised an eyebrow before carefully looking at the phone screen that Amelia held out. All arousal and desire that he had raring to go immediately deflated and diffused.
He sat up straighter, his eyebrows furrowed tightly together as he read the text messages Aiden sent.
Aiden: Matteo, you there?
Aiden: I know you’re not asleep yet.
Aiden: There’s some stuff I think you need to know, maybe Amelia too. It’s about my mom.
Matteo and Amelia shared a glance.
“Does Aiden know about Annalise and Emmeline’s relationship?” Amelia asked, confused.
“Not that I know of,” Matteo replied. “He wasn’t there when we consulted the doctors, nor did he know about the fact that I split the blood samples to test against two subjects.”
Just then, a new message came in, prompting the couple to look down at the phone again.
Aiden: I’m at your apartment building’s parking space. Could you come down?
“That’s quick,” Amelia commented. “Do you think Catherine might have guessed what was going on? She could have sent Aiden over to check on how much we know.”
“I’ll head down and see what he wants,” Matteo said. He leaned over and pressed a kiss to Amelia’s cheek, unwillingly untangling himself from Amelia’s embrace. “I don’t suppose you want to join?”
“Not now,” Amelia said with a shake of her head. “I think… I’ll stay up here for now. Let me know what he says?”
“Of course,” Matteo said. He grabbed the t-shirt that was thrown on the floor in the heat of their passion, slipping on a gray pair of sweatpants before striding out the door.
Matteo headed down via the private elevator to the parking space within a few short minutes. When he arrived, he quickly spotted Aiden’s motorcycle parked in a discrete corner of the parking space. He was leaning against his bike, the helmet placed on the seat as he chewed on his thumb. Once he spotted Matteo emerging from the lift, his eyes lit up.
“How are you so sure that I am still awake?” Matteo asked the moment he walked over.
“You’re always up late doing some work,” Aiden said, rolling his eyes. “I might not be a business genius but even I figured that you’re behind Velorian Enterprises, and raising a new company from nothing to X’el’s current biggest competitor doesn’t happen when the CEO is catching zs.”
The corner of Matteo’s lips quirked up just the slightest.
He never had a close bond with this half-brother of his, especially considering how Catherine was always sowing discord between them, but it seemed like in recent months, Aiden was getting more and more tolerable.
“What did you want to say?” Matteo asked, folding his arms across his chest. “Your message seemed urgent.”
“I just…” Aiden started before pausing. He turned around back and forth, scanning the carpark for any possible eavesdroppers.
“Relax,” Matteo said. “No one is insane enough to be awake at this hour, especially those living in this building.” He then added under his breath, “It’s a wonder how you’re even allowed in, seeing how this is a private space.”
“I had my vehicles registered under your name,” Aiden said with a wave of his hand. “But that’s not important.”
Matteo raised an eyebrow, saying nothing.
“What’s important is that… well…” Aiden sighed. “Benjamin Hawthorne came over to our place after I got back home.”
“Benjamin Hawthorne?” Matteo echoed. His eyebrows shot up before he frowned. “Why?”
“I’m not too sure, honestly,” Aiden confessed. “My mother sent me up to my room so I wasn’t able to listen in to their conversation.”
“But you didn’t go to your room,” Matteo stated.
“I didn’t,” Aiden said. “But I wish I had.” He winced and said, “I caught my mother locking lips with fucking Benjamin Hawthorne. I think there was tongue action involved. The sounds…”
Aiden pinched his index finger and thumb together, leaving just a tiny gap in between the pads of his two fingers.

“They were this close to jumping each other’s bones right there in the living room. God, I wish I could bleach my eyes clean.”
Now there was no more hiding Matteo’s surprise. His eyes widened to the size of saucers before he finally collected himself. His lips were pinched tightly into a straight line as Aiden continued to blab.
“They exchanged some words, I couldn’t quite hear them, but after a while, Benjamin Hawthorne left. My mother… she caught me spying on them.” Aiden swallowed the bile in his throat before continuing. “I think she might’ve also confessed to having an illegitimate child with Benjamin Hawthorne.”
“How so?”
“I asked,” Aiden said. “Or well… I told her to be careful seeing as to how Dad was still in the fucking house when they were sucking each other’s faces off. And when I mentioned if she wasn’t careful, she could get pregnant, she just… went silent.”
Aiden reached up and ran his hand through his hair, tousling up the messy strands.
“Fuck,” he cursed. “I couldn’t sleep. She said to keep it a secret― how was I supposed to keep this thing a fucking secret?! She basically just said that I have yet another half-sibling. Oh, Jesus fuck―”
Aiden’s face paled as he looked at Matteo with alarm.
“What are the chances they gave birth to a daughter? How old do you think this kid might be? Holy shit, what if I… What if… Fuck!”
Aiden began to pace back and forth as Matteo’s expression got increasingly darker. The dots were starting to align and by the looks of it, Aiden was getting more of his guesses right than wrong, however unfortunate that might be.
“I’m a whore!” Aiden blurted out all of a sudden. “I’ve slept with way too many women. What are the chances one of them could be―”
He suddenly placed his hands against his lips, resisting the urge to gag.
The thought that his mother and Benjamin Hawthorne had a child no one else knew about was bad enough. Then came the chance that it might be a daughter, and said daughter could be close in age to him, considering how his mother implied they had been together for a long time.
Aiden Montgomery hadn’t the cleanest track record. It was a miracle he wasn’t laden with diseases yet, considering how he had slept his way through the city. Right now, the chances weren’t all too good.
“Why are you so quiet?” Aiden squeaked, chancing a look at Matteo to see that he was deep in thought. The aura around Matteo made him seem like a grim reaper about to bring the souls of the deceased to the afterlife.
“Aiden…” Matteo started. “There’s something you might want to know.”
