Martial Arts Worlds - Chapter 387
Chapter 387: Power of Technology
Kiernan tossed the phone to his bed and brought out the required materials for the ceremony from his inventory.
Just in case, he’d been keeping them in his inventory, as he’d rather not go adventuring for those items.
He drew the symbol on the desk with an easily erasable marker and placed candles at the tip of each point of the star.
Virtus! Sapientia! Honor! Fortitudo! Unitas! Spes!
The words appeared at the end of each point, and the candle’s flickering flame brightly lit them up.
At that moment, the music started playing throughout the hallways, and Kiernan pondered silently.
‘I could wait for the Silent Hour and then sneak inside Master Arakawa’s office, hoping that he is gone by then, but what if he is taking the journal with him?’
Kiernan brought out his Duelist’s Map, and saw that Master Arakawa was still inside his office.
‘I’ll wait for him to leave, and then I’ll search his office. If I don’t find anything, I’ll use Duelist’s Map to find out where Master Arakawa lives and try to somehow steal the journal from him by some miracle.’
Kiernan didn’t like his odds, but he prayed that Master Arakawa would leave the journal back in his office, but he was never that lucky.
The time moved like a snail on the treadmill. It seemed to go backwards almost, but eventually, the sound of music faded away.
And as he looked at the Duelist’s Map, Master Arakawa left his office, and shortly after, left the dojo behind to head over to his house.
‘Time to go…’
Kiernan peeked out of his room, saw that the hallway had turned dark, and with silent footsteps, he soon arrived at the fifth floor.
With steps so soft that he made no sound, he arrived at the office, and as he put his hand on the handle, it suddenly opened itself, and the door swung wide.
“?!”
Kiernan’s eyes widened in surprise, and as he stood at the doorway, he felt like a naked man standing in the center of a crowd.
‘Shit, I am caught!’
At that moment, from the office, hugging a hardcover book, a gray-eyed young woman sneaked out, trying to make no sound, and at that moment, she came across Kiernan.
If she could scream, she would have, but she remained frozen in surprise.
‘It’s her… It looks like she gave the journal to Master Arakawa unwillingly. She is here to steal it back, and she doesn’t want her grandfather to know…’
Kiernan put his hand forward and motioned for her to give it to him.
Aoi shook her head and tried to walk past him, but he moved in front of her, and she then tried to move to his left side, but he moved again to intercept her.
She pouted and tried to push him aside, but then he reached towards the journal, and she quickly yanked it out of his reach.
“I really need it. Please give it to me.”
Kiernan said in a deep voice, even though he knew that she wouldn’t be able to hear him, but maybe she could understand him with lip-reading.
She concentrated on his lips, seemed to understand few words, but she still shook her head and firmly hugged the journal against her breasts.
“What do you want to do with it?”
Kiernan asked.
“Your grandfather will find it eventually, or are you planning to return it to his office before he finds out? Therefore, you only want to read it, no?”

She looked at his lips, brought out her phone, wrote down something, and then turned it around to show it to him.
[I wasn’t able to finish the book. I want to read it and then return it to my grandfather]
Kiernan took the phone from her fragile hands and wrote a response, then gave it back to her.
[Once you’ve read it, can I get it? I’ve some use for it]
Aoi looked at it, took her phone back, and wrote something down.
[Will you return it to my grandfather’s office? If you don’t, he’ll accuse me of stealing it, and I don’t want that!]
Kiernan took the phone, scratched the back of his head, and wrote.
[Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be possible to return to him… for reasons. I can make it worth your while. I can pay for it]
Aoi looked at the phone with a frown and then wrote something back.
[What are you going to do about it?]
Kiernan took the phone and answered.
[I can’t tell you]
Aoi snatched the phone from his hands and wrote.
[If you won’t tell, I won’t give it to you!]
Kiernan took the phone, sighed, and wrote.
[It’s really hard to explain. Everything has a price. Just tell me yours]
Kiernan said.
Aoi took the phone, looked at him with a not-so-happy look, and wrote back.
[I am not such a shallow person. I’ve no need for money, as material wealth will only ruin you. Show me what you’re going to do with the journal, and then I shall allow you to do whatever you want with it]
Kiernan read through her message and crossed his arms.
‘I can’t reveal the existence of Martial Order to her. I did God’s Contract, and if I break it, I will die! Maybe revealing the existence of the Trade Ceremony is not as bad… People outside of Martial Order also know about it.’
Kiernan sighed and nodded.
Aoi smiled, walked to the end of the hallway, entered her room, and left the door open for him.
As Kiernan entered her room, the scent of young female wafted through the air.
Aoi then sat on her bed, put a pillow under her buttocks, and with softness under her, she started reading through the final pages of the journal with a smile on her face.
‘I am also quite curious about the context of the journal, but I don’t have time to read through it all… Well, thankfully I have the power of the technology on my side. I will just take pictures of every page.’
Kiernan thought to himself.
Back on Earth, he didn’t rely much on technology and was quite foreign to all that, but reincarnating into this new, young body also introduced him to the wonders of technology.
