Chapter 431: Aura Force Field
“Ugh…”

Leon saw that his left foot reached the last tile of the tilted roof and was that close to him falling off.

It made him slightly sweat and realize just how perilous it was to fight on this treacherous roof.

“Frangor Animae Flight!”

With a lion-headed right fist, he thrust it forward and sent a roaring lion flying straight towards Aoi, who stood at the highest spot on the tilted roof.

In the tilted roof, there was a single beam that was the only even foothold for anyone to stand on, and that’s where she stood, her eyes wide as the lion hurtled towards her.

She thrust her hand forward, touched the lion’s face, and made it stop like a mirage, but then it opened its jaw, and roared louder than she had ever heard before.

It made her freeze in terror.

At that moment, Leon jumped over the lion and punched towards her, but she was able to put up her guard in time to protect herself.

However.

The punch still sent her flying off the roof, and she was hurtling down to the ground below, and from such a height, the fall was dangerous.

Luckily, there was another building across from the building where Leon was standing, and Aoi smashed through the window of the building, breaking her fall and saving her life.

“Ah!”

Aoi, still, was in much pain and felt like some of her bones may have been broken. Not because of the fall, but because of the punch.

The punch landed at her arms that weren’t strong enough to block it.

“Aoi!”

Below, in the temple grounds, screams reverberated throughout the air at the scary sight that appeared in front of them.

“Is the fight over? That punch looked dangerous!”

“She fought well till now… But I think that last attack might have been too much for her.”

“What can you even do against Leon? He can just use his Aura Fusion to overpower everyone!”

Silently watching, Kiernan looked up to the two buildings while the rest of the students panicked behind them.

They thought it was over.

“Leon is a difficult opponent for someone not used to fighting Aura Fusion opponents. After all, those kinds of opponents are rare.”

Master Arakawa said to his son-in-law.

“I don’t think Aoi made any mistake in that exchange. She just didn’t know what his Aura Fusion was capable of.

“It looks like those Aura Fusion lions have some kind of fear-inducing effect that they can use with their roars. They must have used it on her.”

Kiernan said with a frown.

“Yes, but from now on, I believe she will know how to counter that. She is a very smart girl, after all.”

Master Arakawa said.

In the hallway of the building, with broken window glass on the ground and slight moonlight shining through the empty frame.

Aoi stumbled to her feet, saw her arms trembling, but continued to grit through the pain with determination in her eyes.

As she looked through the broken window, she was able to see Leon standing on top of the tilted roof.

He was going to attack her the moment he saw her trying to jump back to the roof.

“Good…”

Aoi backed off slightly, taking as much runway as she could, and then started running.

When she reached the broken window, she jumped through it and soared through the air with her yukata flapping against the gentle winds of the night.

“It’s Aoi!”

“She is still in the match, but she is going straight back to the roof? It’s really dangerous!”

“What else could she do? She must attack Leon in order to win, and she can’t do that if she is afraid to go near him!”

Leon scoffed, and then with lion-headed fists, he punched the empty air in front of him and sent the lions soaring across the air.

They pounced straight towards Aoi with the sky-silencing roars that brought fear-inducing chills down everyone’s spine.

At that moment, Aoi pressed her hands together and closed her eyes, focusing all of her energy on summoning a protective barrier.

When the lions came at her, with their claws slashing, they clashed with an invisible force field that sent them tumbling backward.

“Whoo…”

Aoi breathed and opened her eyes with a smile on her face.

She wasn’t sure whether it would work, but she was glad that it did.

“How?!”

Leon’s eyes shook in disbelief.

“She used her aura to create a force field around her!”

Master Arakawa cried out.

“Based on your reaction, you didn’t know that she was capable of doing that?”

Kiernan asked.

“No… This is the first time I’ve seen her do that, but I suppose this is one of her trump cards that she has been keeping secret from everyone.

“However, that aura force field is not omnipotent. It can’t stop physical attacks, but it can stop the creatures of Aura Fusion!”

Master Arakawa said.

“It just so happens to be the perfect counter against Leon. I now understand Aoi’s reaction back at the martial arts festival.

“While she looked surprised, she also seemed quite thrilled. I wondered why that was the case, and now I know why.

“She knew that she had a perfect counter to his moves.”

Kiernan chuckled to himself.

Aoi landed back on the tilted roof, made her way up, and met Leon at the highest peak of Dusk Town, where they could see the entire townscape sprawling out beneath them.

Leon reacted with a sloppy straight punch, but Aoi stopped it with her gravity touch and slapped him in the chest, which sent him stumbling backwards.

“Tch!”

Leon, with a burning chest pain, lunged straight back at her and kept punching ferociously, but she circled around him effortlessly, dodging each blow with graceful ease.

It was shocking that she was able to move that way in the tilted roof, which didn’t really have any good foothold, but she seemed to have no trouble navigating it at all.

At that moment, Aoi hooked her leg around Leon’s and brought him down to his knees, then spun around and palm-struck him in the face.

SMACK!

His head got pushed back with a force that surprised him, and blood dripped from his nose.
