Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 106
Chapter 106: Ch 106: Feels so right
Rika’s mind was a mess at the moment. Thousands of thoughts went through her mind.
But she reached only one conclusion, even with every option she considered. That was to put some distance between herself and her friends.
No matter how much Rika wanted to be with and love them, the thought of being an omega creeped her out.
‘But I know myself. My emotions have the potential to get the better of me, and they might push me to make a stupid decision that could change my life. It would be better if I got them under control first.’
To do that, Rika would need to forget her love for her alpha friends, and she would need time for that.
“Rika, are you alright now? Did everything go fine? What about your body? Is it hurt? Do you need any help?”
When Emily noticed Rika, she sprinted to her side and reached out to check on her.
Her eyes lingered on Rika’s neck, where she had sucked a hickey, but Rika shifted around a little to force that interest away.
It worked on Emily, but Damian’s focus was laser-sharp. His silver eyes made Rika shiver with delight, and something inside her wanted to reach out and turn that interest into hunger.
These emotions and needs made Rika’s stomach flip around, and she knew this was getting dangerous. She needed to get away now, or she wouldn’t be able to get away ever.
“I…am fine. My body is sluggish, and the doctor said I need bed rest for a few days. We won’t be able to meet for some time.”
Rika tried to sound as sorry as she could at that moment.
Emily instantly seemed to understand what Rika was going through, but Damian’s look caught her breath.
His eyes looked calm on the outside, but they seemed to be asking Rika if she was running away right now.
Try as she might, Rika could not look away from him until Emily interfered.
“Hmm, staying inside and resting for a few days might be a good idea. Your body needs a lot of rest to recover after all that excitement. I know I was not gentle on you and…do you even remember what happened, Rika?”
Emily suddenly paused in her talk. She seemed to realise how quiet Rika had been all this time and felt nervous.
But Rika decided to put her worries to an end.
“I remember what happened, but let’s pack that conversation for now and have it once I feel better. You too, Dami! I will hear you out once I recover a little hit. For now, why don’t you both go home and rest? I should report back as well.”
Rika was avoiding the situation.
Even if she said that she had no intention of running away, she could not bring herself to speak about what happened.
It was too embarrassing to talk about, but more than that, Rika feared changing her relationship with her friends.
She liked what she had going with them—this ease and this care. She wanted to maintain these things to gain a new but confusing dynamic with the pair.
“Cowa-”
“We understand. We will wait for you to gather your thoughts and then have this conversation. But Rika, know that neither Dami nor I regret what happened. We would do the same thing if we were given another chance.”
Emily stopped Damian from speaking once as soon as he opened his mouth.
Her words were firm, making Rika’s stomach flip-flop with nervousness and excitement.
But as soon as these emotions passed through her mind, she calmed down.
“I see! I-I should get going now. I will contact you in a few days.”
Rika made an awkward expression before she ‘ran’ away from the confrontation.

Damian steps to go after her, but Emily stops him before he can scare Rika any more than he already has.
“No! You don’t need to go after Rika right now. Give her some time to explore herself.”
“As much as you want to force her to see things our way, we must be patient and allow Rika to come our way willingly.”
Emily spoke softly, but her words had a purpose.
This was all an act on Emily’s part to hold her dark desires at bay. She feared she would scare Rika away if she did not lie to herself.
“You are as much as a coward as always. I am getting impatient while putting up with you. But this will be the last time I listen to you.”
Thankfully, Damian did not challenge Emily this time.
The minor clash of pheromones the pair had was enough to cause the people around them to look uncomfortable.
But the alpha pair did not care for anyone but their chosen mate.
Rika could try to run all she wanted, but she would ultimately end up in their arms. Her instinct, attraction, and love all belonged to the pair.
It had been from the moment they first met until Rika died.
“Dami, we must proceed to the next part of our plan now. Now that I have tasted Rika, no one else would suffice. I want to hurry up and make a safe place for her out in the world.”
“It’s time we start tearing apart those stupid assholes who dare to look down on Rika.”
Emily’s eyes shined hauntingly. She was not going to let her prayer escape from her.
But it was nothing compared to the maniac smile on Damian’s face. It could make the bravest of people back away in fear.
“Let me take care of thighs in the background. I will do anything that is needed for Rika’s sake.”
Emily did not doubt that Damian would hold his words and dirty his hand in any way possible for Rika.
“Shit! We both are a fool for Rika. But I cannot make myself feel bad about it. My instincts tell me that what we are doing is right. So, let’s finish quickly and have a nice time with Rika.”
