Chapter 128: Ch 128: Just how little I know
It was far too quiet in the hospital. No one dared to speak because they feared becoming a victim of this new alpha’s rage.
Natasha did not blame them either.
Even she felt unsettled right now. Her emotions were running high, and her patience was depleted.
She needed answers, and she felt like she was about to explode.
None of what she heard felt real. It registered in her head but did not make sense, especially about Rika becoming an omega.
That was just not possible. This conversation should be kept from taking place.
But that was not the case.
Neither the doctor nor the three alphas in front of Natasha looked like they were joking.
*sigh*
“Looks like this will be another long and awkward talking session. For now, come to my office. I have a feeling that there is a lot we need to talk about.”
The beta doctor was firm, and she stood proud and calmly in front of the four alphas who threatened to exert pressure on her.
It was an incredible feat that not many were capable of.
Emily and Damian followed the doctor into her office without much questioning. It made Natasha curious enough to follow them as well.
As soon as they were seated, the beta doctor turned to look at them with a grave expression.
“This is my first time meeting half of you. So, for your sake, I will repeat what is happening. I hope you will keep things quiet for my patient’s safety.”
The doctor looked at the alpha pair before proceeding. She seemed to be asking them if it was right for her to share her information.
It irked Natasha’s pride and consciousness to be treated like this, especially regarding her daughter.
“Don’t you dare think of keeping any secrets from me regarding Rika? She is my precious daughter, and I want to know everything about her.”
Natasha threatened the doctor, and at this point, most doctors were too afraid of Natasha to defy her.
But this beta doctor was different.
Instead of cowering and looking afraid, she firmly held her stand. She seemed to know her importance, and she refused to make compromises.
“Frankly, you are the last person I want to involve with my patient. You might be biologically related to my patient, but to call you a parent would be a mistake on my part. Why don’t you see the report yourself if you don’t believe me?”
The doctor passed the papers to Natasha, who snatched them quickly. She wanted to know what this doctor was talking about.
As soon as Natasha read the papers, she wished she had not done so.
“N-None of this makes sense! I made sure never to neglect Rika when she was a child. Can there be a mistake? Maybe a genetic mutation or something-”
The doctor interrupted Natasha’s monologue.
“Are you serious? It looks like you require some therapy as well. One does not simply regress to be a beta unless excruciating circumstances are at play. Even if your actions might not look like neglect, that does not mean you did not unconsciously neglect your daughter for most of her life.”
“It is a relief we managed to catch this in time. From what I can see, Rika Goodwill’s health is currently in crisis. If she wants to live, it would be best for her to start her transition into an omega.”
The doctor did not give Natasha any time to make excuses. She was on point and professional about her statements.
The oldest alpha felt her stomach churn in regret and panic.

She knew the doctor was right in her heart, but her mind refused to believe it. She had worked hard to treat all her children equally. Natasha had done what she could.
But Rika had never let it be known that she was lonely or felt oppressed. She had always been a perfect child, so how was Natasha supposed to know?
‘If only Rika voiced her grievances like Mark or Suzie did, things would have surely never come to it.’
Natasha was so drowned in her neglect and wanting to run from responsibility that it never occurred to her why Rika had never asked for help before or why she felt oppressed.
And even if it had, Natasha did not have it in her to face the truth.
“I see! In simpler words, Rika needs to accept being an omega and become one if she wants to live, right? Then, I am willing to help her out. She would need a steady supply of alpha pheromones, and I am the perfect candidate.”
Everyone turned toward Andrew Tweten with a deadly, quiet glare.
The looks Emily and Damian gave him were especially vicious and stabbing.
However, Andrew did not back down despite receiving such looks filled with hostility.
“I mean, both Miss Steinz and Master Rodric are already partners, right? It would be awkward for Rika to receive pheromones from them. And Alpha Goodwill, I don’t think it would be a good idea for you to try this yourself. That leaves me as the only choice, right?”
Andrew Tweten sounded smug and also delighted when he announced this.
He knew he was the only choice and basked his knowledge on it.
“In that case, won’t Mark be the best choice? Since he’s Rika’s brother, she would feel the most comfortable with him-”
“But he’s part of the neglect problem, right? I won’t trust him with Rika.”
The argument was getting more and more heated. Nothing was getting resolved, and Natasha felt frustrated.
“Then, why don’t we try omega pheromones? Her father or Suzie would be a better choice since alphas are dangerous to Rika right now-”
“I would like to stop you there. The patient showed an adverse reaction to omega pheromones after the kidnapping. We should also get the patient’s input when she wakes up. Until then, this discussion is useless.”
The doctor concluded this, and Natasha felt even more frustrated hearing this.
Suddenly, it struck her how little she knew Rika.
