Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 139
Chapter 139: Ch 139: Changed minds
“Mom! Think about what you are saying. Do you want to hand over your position to Rika? You know that all your executives want Suzie to head that position. It has been heard for years now. How can you even think of doing this to her?”
Natasha looked at Mark with her dark eyes filled with alcohol.
“I know that you are saying this because you are drunk right now, but it is not a good idea to joke around like this. What if someone hears you and misunderstands your intentions by taking your words seriously? Sheesh! Stop drinking now.”
Mark complained as he reached out to grab Natasha’s alcohol bottle.
He sounded severe when reprimanding Natasha for her choices, but he was not the only one who had come to find her.
Suzie was also there, just outside the corridor, far enough away from Natasha’s pheromones.
Looking at Natasha, she had a complicated expression, but the intoxicated alpha felt nothing for Suzie.
“Mom! You are not going to do this to me, right? You cannot just hand over your position to Rika when you have me. I am a better choice overall. After all, I am an omega, while Rika is merely a beta. She will not be able to handle the pressure-”
Natasha did not know if it was the alcohol in her system or maybe it was her irrational side that made her scoff at those words and make Suzie even angrier.
“Somehow, I don’t think Rika would let her dynamic be a problem for her. She is the most level-headed of us all and also the most diplomat. I should draft a contract stating that she is my heir now.”
Natasha might be drunk, but she still knew what she was saying.
Suzie realised, and she panicked a little. She wanted her position in the company to go to something other than Rika.
‘Darn it, Rika! You take everything from me. First, you took away Emily and Damian. Then you also took away Andrew Tweten’s attention, and now you are trying to take my mother away? I will not allow that.’
Suzie felt tears well up in her eyes at the thought of what was happening.
The first wet tear she let out made Mark and her father look at her with a pitiful and sorry expression on their faces.
“S-Suzie, don’t cry! Your mother was joking when she said she would give your position to someone. R-Right, Natasha? Hurry up and tell Suzie that this was all a joke.”
The male omega panicked and quickly turned toward his mate to resolve the position.
His instincts as a parent were panicking as he looked at his crying daughter.
Mark was freaking out as well. But unlike his father, he needed to learn how to handle the situation better.
He could only stand in front of his mother with an awkward expression.
But Natasha did not seem moved by this display at all. If anything, she looked lonelier and frowned slightly.
“We spoil our youngest, don’t we? I never realised just how differently we saw all our children. This would not have happened if we treated them all equally.”
Natasha spoke these words under her breath, but everyone else heard her loud and clear.
Her husband and Mark looked too stunned to speak, but Suzie had no such problem.
“Mother, don’t say that. Both you and Father try your best for us. Rika understands that as well. If she doesn’t want to meet you, this is her problem. You should not feel guilty, especially not make the father feel guilty.”
Suzie had made a diplomatic approach to take her father’s side during this argument.
She did not know what had gotten into her mother today, but she did know that her father would come out on top later.
That was why being in his good grace was much more important than catering to her mother.
Out of everyone in the room, Mark was the only one who realised that something was wrong. Natasha Goodwill only got drunk when she felt overwhelmed and wanted to run away from reality.
He knew that which made him suspicious of what was happening.

“Father, why don’t you take Suzie up and wait there for now? I need to talk to my mother about something. Don’t worry about me, and go.”
Mark smiled at his father and Suzie.
Suzie had no intention of leaving Mark alone here with their mother, but she could not protest when her father nodded and extended his hand to her for grabbing.
‘Tsk, I can’t believe I am failing to stay here and control the situation because of my ‘good girl’ act. But I can’t break it now.’
“Alright! Suzue and I will leave it up to you from here on. Could you calm your mother down and take care of her? She looks to be quite drunk.”
Finally, the oldest omega made his way out of the room with Suzie.
Mark looked at his sister until she disappeared, then he looked frustrated at his mother.
“What are you doing, mom? You look like a mess. You made Suzie and Father worried about you. Now, what is this about? And why do you want to change your hair from Suzie to Rika? Did Rika say anything to you because she is jealous of Suzie? That girl! I swear that she needs to be whipped in shape, and I-”
Mark was lucky his instincts made him dodge the grab that was headed for his neck.
His mother was not joking around when she threatened to attack him if he did not shut up.
“Don’t speak about Rika in such a casual way if you want to live. I can’t control myself if I hear her being included anymore.”
Natasha warned her son as she fought to control her deadly instincts.
Alcohol had lowered Natasha’s power to control herself, and she was running on a mixture of emotions and instincts right now that could not be stopped.
