Chapter 140: Ch 140: The Circumstances
The tension in that home bar could be cut with a knife.
All the servants had already been returned to their rooms because Natasha did not want to be responsible for them if she snapped and did anything funny.
That left Mark and Natasha as the sole occupants of this room, and neither wanted to back down or be the ones to confront the other about what was happening.
Finally, Natasha decided to speak up first and bring up the topic she wanted to discuss.
“Mark, have you ever questioned your dynamic before? What about Suzie’s? Have you considered her anything but an omega?”
Natasha asked, but Mark made a considered face.
“Huh? Why would I question such a thing? I always knew I was going to be an alpha. The same with Suzie. She showed signs of being an omega way before she presented as one. As for Rika…it is challenging to say. There was a time I was convinced she would also become an omega.”
“Isn’t that why we got her checked out when she did not present? But the doctors said that she was okay. Is this about that time?”
Mark asked in a confused voice. Somehow, this conversation filled him with dread and told him he should not be having it.
But his curiosity was more significant than his feeling of caution. That was why Mark continued this conversation.
“Well, that was what I thought as well. Now I feel like such a fool for doing that. Why don’t you read this report?”
Natasha extended her hand toward Mark, and he grabbed her phone.
The more he read the report, the more it became a joke.
It was a cruel joke that mocked him and called him out as incompetent. He wanted to consider something other than what was written on the phone as a likely event.
“This is a good story. Is this for some new drama you are going to sponsor? But isn’t it a little unrealistic? How presents this late…. mom, you are scaring me. Hurry up and say something to me.”
Mark’s heart gave a painful lung in his chest, and his hands shook. He did not want to believe the truth of what he was reading.
“I wish it was a joke as well. But the more I read this, the more it binds me. I cannot run away since her face haunts me when I try to do that.”
Natasha did not say who she was talking about out loud, but she did not need to.
Mark understood, and he almost dropped the phone in shock.
“Can you give me a drink? I don’t think I can get through this conversation sober, either. It is too much to take in.”
Mark sounded frustrated and angry at the same time. The drink felt heavy in his hands, but Mark gulped it down one go before taking another shot.
Finally, he began feeling tipsy and was ready for this conversation.
Unfortunately, the more he heard, the more sober it made him feel.
He knew his mother was still hiding more than enough information from him, but Mark was already struggling to digest what he heard. He did not think he could handle it anymore.
“Wait! Stop a minute! I understand everything you said, but I need to take a break. Let’s say that this is all true and whatnot. Then, what made Rika awaken to her true nature as an omega? Just who could have given her enough pheromones to awaken-”
Mark stopped himself from finishing his words. He suddenly knew who the culprit was without even thinking much about it.
“I am going to kill those fuckers! They dared to tell us to stay away from my sister while they were doing god knows what with her. I won’t allow this to happen.”
Mark sounded furious, but he felt he had every right to be angry with those two alphas.
They had turned his sister’s life upside down just by existing. They even reject Suzie’s feelings, only to play with Rika instead.
“I’ll go and give those two a piece of my mind. How dare they do this to Rika? Just what do they-”

“Sit down, Mark. We will not be doing anything this time. As much as I understand your anger, I realise Rika awakened because of those two. She needs their help, and they also think for her betterment.”
The older alpha commented as she pulled her son back down to make him sit.
Mark did not feel the same as his mother, and he let her know.
“That is not true. Rika should have never awakened as a beta in the first place! We were happy with our current dynamic. Also, have you considered what impact this will have on Suzie? She will need to take this better. She used to be the only omega in this household and had all our attention. To suddenly have it split would devastate her. We cannot-”
“Then what about Rika? She never had any attention, which caused her stunned growth and late awakening. We can’t just abandon her because we are worried about Suzie. The youngest would have to learn how to share.”
Mark fell quiet.
Of course, his mother was right. That would be the right thing to do.
Newly awakened omegas needed their family’s scents to feel safe and secure. This was a necessity for the omega to grow and become self-reliant.
Since it was straightforward to take advantage of omegas at this stage of their life and make them imprint on an alpha, the families usually hid them inside.
“Mom! Isn’t Rika in her imprint stage right now? Where is she? Don’t we need to hide her? She can-”
“I know. But Rika does not want to see me or anyone from our family. I had no choice but to leave her with Emily and Damian. I can only pray they won’t take advantage of her once she awakens.”
Natasha drank another shot, and this time, Mark joined her in her intoxicating journey.
The situation had been fucked up more than one could imagine, and there seemed to be no way out.
