Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 149
Chapter 149: Ch 149: Bury the truth
‘This is getting out of hand. At this rate. John might end up injuring another student, and it will be a bitch to cover up. It will be best to try to lower his anger for now.’
John was not often triggered to this end, and the alpha teacher wanted this situation to calm down naturally.
But instead of dealing with John (the right way), he decided to turn toward Rika and ask for her cooperation.
As a beta, her duty was to cooperate and give a blooming Alpha like John what he needed. That was what the teacher firmly believed she should do.
“Miss, this will only worsen the situation if we keep pressing like this. So how about you apologise to John here, and we can call it a day?”
The teacher asked with a slight smile, but his tone left no room for argument. He was sure that a beta like this girl would not refute him.
“Oi! I don’t need an apology or some shit. Just let me have a turn at her, and I will feel satisfied.”
John had other ideas about what would make him feel better, but the teacher somehow held him back with his core strength while smiling at Rika in a demanding manner.
It pissed Rika off a lot more than she expected.
Usually, Rika could hold off her anger and swallow her pride for the sake of what needed to be done.
This situation demanded that she do the same, but Rika did not want to.
“You want me to… apologies to Senior John? For what reason?”
Rika asked, and the teacher suddenly felt stumped by her words. He stuttered when he answered.
“W-What do you mean, why you should apologise? John is your senior and also an alpha. You should show respect when you meet him.”
The teacher looked genuinely baffled at this question.
He had never questioned his place as an alpha in the society.
Alphas were supposed to be at the top of the world, the pinnacle of humanity. That much was just common sense and should not even be refuted. Even a kid knew that much information.
“Pfhhh, this is funny. I was always taught that respect is earned, not given. And right now, I do not feel like giving any of it out to you people.”
Rika sounded bored, making the teacher feel he was not worth her time. This was the first time he had felt this way.
It irked the teacher, but he did not have much alpha pride. Since he was not dominant, he was able to calm his wounded pride down.
The teacher wanted to talk Rika down and make her understand where she was wrong when John’s dam broke, and he could not hold himself back anymore.
“Tsk, you are pissing me off so much. Fuck! If a fight is what you want, then a fight is what you will get. This is all your fault in the end.”
John’s eyes saw red as he charged toward Rika and tried to tackle him.
Unfortunately for him, his moments were too transparent, and he fumbled when Rika side-stepped him. He knocked him off balance by hitting him in the scent glands.
John’s hands immediately touched his neck to rub the aching part.
But because he was unstable enough and managed to get hit by Rika, he could not maintain his balance and fell flat on his back.
“If you are going to charge at me like that, then do it when you are sober and more in control of yourself. You are only asking to get hurt by me at this rate.”
Rika sighed as she looked at the man sitting beside her.
John’s shocked expression turned into rage, and he tried to reach for her again.
The same thing happened a second and a third time, but John’s wounded ego did not allow him to try a fourth time.

“As much fun as this is, I should return home now. Teacher, I assume you will take care of this mess for us. As you just saw, I did nothing but defend myself this whole time. If you don’t want this situation to blow up, please ensure no one finds out about it.”
Rika looked at her stunned teacher, who was standing there in silence.
She was quickly out of the auditorium, and her legs shook because of all the stress.
Rika managed to keep her composure until she found a secluded spot and let her body fall into a curled position.
“Fuck! I was supposed to keep my head down and live a normal life. This was not supposed to happen. What do I do now?”
This was the worst outcome possible for Rika.
She was sure that people would gossip about this for days to come.
“Let’s hope another accident happens so that people forget all about me and just talk about it. I don’t care what kind of accident it is, but I hope it happens.”
When most people talked like this, they were not serious about the accident happening.
Rika was different. She was serious about wanting a distraction from her life and what was happening to her.
But sometimes, it was better not to wish for something to happen, and Rika learned this the hard way when she returned to her dorm.
Everyone was sitting in the living room except Charon, who was in their room.
For some reason, Rika felt terrible when she stepped into the dorm and did not see Charon.
The female had returned to her usual self in the morning, so Rika expected to see her in the living room. That was where she usually spent most of her time socialising before.
“Rika, are you heading back to your room? Can you call Charon down for us? I want to talk to her and get her opinion about one of the dresses I want to wear for the date. Charon has the best fashion sense out of all of us, so I want her opinion.”
Fey waved at Rika as the younger walked past the living room to climb the stairs.
