Chapter 150: Ch 150: The bad feeling
Rika walked toward the stairs, but something told her she should not head up alone. That made Rika stand before the stairs and not move for a solid minute.

She was looking up the stairs and might have zoned out, too.

Fey stood up worriedly and walked toward Rika before touching her shoulder.

“Hey, are you alright? What are you thinking about? Are you not going to head up?”

Fey’s touch finally broke Rika’s concentration, and she blinked a few times to bring herself back and gathered her thoughts as well.

She also realised that Fey had called her out a few times before getting worried and walking up to her.

“Ah, sorry! Did you want something from me? I have yet to hear you speaking since I zoned out just now. What can I do for you?”

Rika’s heart thundered in her chest as she felt a sudden surge of panic that terrified her.

Fey noticed this (she was swift to pick up such details sometimes) but wisely chose not to address it for everyone’s sanity.

“You know what? Now I am worried about you, Rika. Let me accompany you to your room, and I will talk to Charon myself. She cannot keep shutting herself up in her room constantly.”

Fey declared before she dragged Rika up the stairs and toward her room.

It was pretty, and Shuu was once again sitting outside the door. The pup had given up on staying inside, even when the door was open.

If Rika had not been in her room, Shuu would not have stayed in either.

“Shuu, you are out once again? I thought Charon wanted to play with you. Did you run away from her?”

Fey asked as she kneeled in front of the puppy and picked it up.

Shuu pretended to struggle, but Rika saw the puppy melting in Fey’s arms. After all this time, Shuu had gotten used to Fey, and Rika appreciated her for this effort and help.

But the next thing that stuck with Rika was the quietness of the hallway.

There was something eerie and unsettling about the atmosphere of this place. Rika was afraid to open the door before her and enter the room. She felt she was about to commit a massive sin if she did this.

*bark*

Shuu noticed that the second Rika was about to open her door, and the puppy began to bark.

It even struggled to be put down by Fey before biting Rika’s pants and trying to pull her away from the door.

Rika had never seen the pup behave like this and felt worried. She wanted to open the room door more than ever but no longer dared.

On the other hand, Fey did not have the Shuu restriction attached to her. So, she quickly opened the door and let out a cheerful greeting.

“Yo! Charon, we are here to talk to you. Are you in there? How weird! Is Charon not in here today? But the door was unlocked for us to enter.”

Fey complained and tried to deduce what was happening.

Rika looked toward Charon’s bed and noticed a visible lump. Charon was sleeping right now.

“Fey, I think Charon is in her bed. I don’t think we should wake her up. She looks tired with how deep she is sleeping.”

The fact that Charon had not even woken up after all this yelling and drama proved how deep of a sleeper she was.

It would make Rika feel guilty to wake her from such a good nap.

“Let’s leave her asleep and head down now. You can talk to Charon later, right?”

Rika asked as she turned her back. The more she avoided the situation, the lighter her heart felt.

But that was not the case for Fey.

While Rika looked relieved and ready to head back, Fey had a weird expression.

“Rika, I am going to wake Charon up now. You can head down if you want to. But I feel as if something is wrong here. My senses are urging me to check up on Fey.”

Fey was not the only one with the tingling sense right now. Rika had the same feeling.

But she ignored her senses and urged better than the older beta.

Still, Rika did not stop Fey from doing what she wanted.

“Hey, Charon, wake up now. It’s bad manners to sleep for this long…hey! Please stop it. I feel scared now. Just wake up.”

Fey was not just yelling now, but she was shaking Charon now.

Despite her best efforts, Charon showed no sign of waking up or even opening her eyes. Her deep sleep continued no matter what Fey or Rika did.

Rika quickly looked around her surroundings for clues about what had caused this situation.

Her eyes immediately fell on the small bottle of sleeping pills, and she had a sinking feeling she knew what happened.

“Fuck! Fey, we need to call the hospital right now. I think Charon accidentally overdosed on the sleeping medicine. We need to get professional help right now.”

Rika panicked and could not think straight.

She knew that she needed to call the medics right then and there, but her hands would not move properly no matter what she did.

Fey was not any better, and her hands were shaking.

Time was of the essence, and Shuu decided to ground Rika by barking at her and bringing her back to the present.

‘I-I need to calm down and make this call properly. Shit! I know my bad feelings meant something would happen. I should have talked with Charon and cleared the air between us.

It was not Rika’s fault, and she knew it. But it felt like it was her fault because she had seen signs of this and ignored it.

Rika did not want to make an excuse, even if she had many of them.

The voice asked on the other end, but Rika’s throat refused to make any noise. She wanted to speak but was choking to get the words out.
